Chapter 750: Flanking the Monster

Chapter 750: Chapter 750: Flanking the Monster

In the dimly lit hotel hallway, a bald, hairy beast leisurely strolled, swinging its tail as it scrutinized each door it passed. Nonchalantly, it ignored the closed doors, only entering the open rooms to investigate. Occasionally, it would bite into any blood-stained items it found, leaving behind its bite marks before moving on.

After patrolling this floor, the beast was ready to take the elevator to another level, but at that moment, music emanated from the direction of the stairs:

"Xiao Ming has a secret, which he shared with his friend Xiao Hua. Xiao Hua, upon hearing the secret, told her friend Xiao Liang. Xiao Liang, having heard the secret, he told..."

The music, incongruous in the silence of the hotel, plainly agitated the creature that had been calmly surveilling its domain. It bellowed and dashed up the stairs, reaching the upper floor in just a few strides, charging toward the source of the sound!

A music player dangled in mid-air not far from the stairwell; as the monster lunged toward the hanging source of the noise with all its might, Xu Huo and Lin Zhenhuai burst out from rooms on either side. Sword Qi slashed towards the hind legs of the beast that hadn’t yet left the ground while a spring-loaded boxing glove shot towards its head, able to extend two to three meters with each punch!

However, to their surprise, the massive beast was incredibly agile. It swatted away Lin Zhenhuai’s boxing glove with one claw, then leaped upwards as the Sword Qi grazed its feet and hit the wall at the end of the hallway.

The likelihood of a successful strike was minimal, and Xu Huo and his team had prepared for this before making their move. But before the arc of light from the Sword Qi completely vanished, the creature’s claw, bringing with it a gust of wind, swiped at Xu Huo!

"Bang!" Xu Huo narrowly dodged the attack, but the beast’s large body blocked his path with its two front paws. In a rush, he protected himself with "Severance Gate," but the force of the claw sent both him and the prop flying several meters!

Xu Huo stumbled backward, and the already cracked "Severance Gate" looked ready to fall apart while the beast took another leap towards him—the distance it had closed not even matching the creature’s full jump. He could almost predict that before he could steady himself, the beast would likely tear him to shreds!

"Explode!" A lighter was used in conjunction with "Aesthetic of Explosion" at the same time, turning the shadow enveloping him instantly into a fireball!

This attack was quite effective. The monster, which a second ago was in hot pursuit, now collided with the wall, frantically trying to rub the flames off its body. Lin Zhenhuai and Gao Xiaoyue, who followed up, acted swiftly: one threw a steel cable around the beast’s neck, while the other spun a small pulley in her hand. The steel cable rapidly tightened on its own and, with the help of a fixed defense prop in the room, quickly pulled the beast into the room!

They had set up the mechanism in advance hoping to possibly throw the beast out of the window, but to everyone’s astonishment, the burning creature slammed its claws into the floor, carving deep grooves, and managed to stop itself right at the edge of the window!

The steel cable was taut, but no matter how much the pulley turned, it couldn’t move the beast’s forcefully raised head—by now, the creature’s neck was bent at an almost impossible angle backward, a position that would have broken the neck of a normal animal.

The beast’s hairless head hadn’t caught fire like the rest of its fur-covered body, so even though its neck had been grotesquely twisted, its eyes could still be seen moving ceaselessly.

This wouldn’t be enough to inflict a fatal wound.

At that moment, Peng Fengnian, lying in wait in the room, hurled a short knife, breaking the nails the beast had buried into the ground. Seizing the opportunity during its momentary loosening, Xiao Ling deployed a toy car to tip it over!

The steel cable came alive once more, and this time the beast hit the window, its massive body tumbling out through the opening!

The steel wire had a moment of slack and then tightened, Gao Xiaoyue stood her ground without moving, but her expression revealed she was anything but relaxed, "Quick!"

Xu Huo took a huge stride into the room and leaped onto the window before gesturing towards the rear!

The steel wire vanished in an instant, and the monster that had been hanging was now rapidly falling. Xu Huo, gripping the piano wire, jumped out as well, fending off the monster with his sword every time it tried to climb in through the windows it fell past!

"Accelerate the fall!" Sun Bo’s voice came from above, and immediately the falling monster, like a cannonball, sped up and smashed onto the ground floor of the hotel!

The creature was truly troublesome; despite the high fall, it quickly got up and tried to run into the hotel.

Apart from Xu Huo, three others jumped down from above—Yu Guangnan and Peng Fengnian, along with another two whose names had not been revealed. The two unnamed companions spread a large electrified net on the ground to the left and right, the hissing current occasionally sparking to the sides, and it shocked the monster back whenever it tried to break through!

"Whizz...!" Just then, a piercing whistle came from Yu Guangnan’s direction. The peculiar sound immediately caught the monster’s attention, and as an object resembling a whistle flew across the air towards the outside of the hotel, the beast lunged after it!

The streets in front and back of the hotel looked like the outside, but in reality, there was an invisible barrier at the edge of the street that players couldn’t pass through—and likewise, the object thrown by Yu Guangnan also fell down upon touching it, with the pursuing monster stopping just in front of the barrier without touching it.

Seeing this, Yu Guangnan couldn’t hide his disappointment and looked towards the other two.

The two worked well together, immediately shrinking the net’s range to force the monster closer to the barrier. However, the monster, which had just bitten the whistle to pieces, suddenly turned viciously and lunged at the net, ripping it apart with its teeth and claws before pouncing directly at the player on the right!

The monster, already burnt bald and charred from electricity, looked like a skinned monkey, but its speed and strength remained undiminished. It accelerated fiercely, slamming into the player’s defense prop!

With an unimaginable force, that player was sent crashing into the hotel’s exterior wall, and since he landed right in the beast’s path, the rampaging monster tore open his lower back with its hands and feet before he had a chance to climb out from the rubble!

Xu Huo and the others, who were close behind, were drenched by the blood that had been flung out, and upon looking inside the wall, the monster was already gone!

Yu Guangnan and another player stayed behind to rescue the wounded, while Xu Huo, not even stopping for half a second, chased into the hotel and followed the trail of blood straight to a room with an open door...

However, just as he approached the doorway, the monster hiding inside suddenly lunged out!

"Concentrated Air!" He quickly set up an air barrier in front of him but hit the wall behind him, and as he watched the monster snarling on top of the barrier, he shook off the gravity and flashed to the other end of the corridor, pulling something out of his pocket and throwing it directly into the gaping, bloodthirsty maw that was chasing him!
