Chapter 651: Chapter 651: Beauty Is Lethal
"Hehe!" Another sound came from ahead, and everyone turned their guns only to discover that the path they had taken had turned into a long corridor that didn’t exist at all, where the lights flickered, and the figure of the toy rabbit constantly shifted positions amidst the changing light, as if luring them forward.
"Damn rabbit!" A player, impatient, raised his gun to shoot, but someone lifted the barrel, and all the bullets hit the ceiling.
"What are you doing!" Several nearby players pointed their guns at Xu Huo, who had lifted the gun, and the team leader even came over to yank his mask, "Which group were you transferred from? State your identification number!"
Xu Huo pushed his hand away, "Rather than that... Count carefully how many people we have now."
The player at the back said, "Captain, the number of people is correct."
Players on a mission were often grouped, and even when transferred from different groups, they would know each other’s identities in advance. However, today was different; to rescue the hostages, the Special Defense Department had arranged several players who were responsible for the security of the secret area. With uniform uniforms and masks, they didn’t fully know what their counterparts looked like. However, the uniform was unique, with special markings on it.
But Xu Huo had stopped his teammates from taking action, and now the captain suspected someone from outside had infiltrated their team.
"Is it really matching up?" Xu Huo took out a lighting prop, and strangely, the corridor under the light returned to its previous state. A teammate was standing right in front of where that person’s gun barrel had been, noticing the light the other turned his head, "Captain?"
The captain’s voice deepened, "We’ve been disturbed by props in both sight and hearing!"
Swoosh, all guns were aimed at Xu Huo.
"We have an extra person here, who are you? I have never heard of your prop," the captain kept his distance, "When did you sneak in?"
"I’m also a player from the Special Defense Department, specially dispatched by Chief Wu," Xu Huo said. "You can verify this with him, and you can trust me. If I were a player from Country Y, I wouldn’t have saved that person just now. You don’t even know when I followed you, what I could do would be very easy."
He was telling the truth, but the captain still gestured to his teammates to verify Xu Huo’s identity.
"Captain, communication has been lost." After trying, one player reported, "We’ve lost contact with the outside."
Xu Huo took a step back, "If you’re really afraid, I can act alone."
After weighing his options, the captain then said, "You will travel with us, but you must not leave my sight, or I will take action."
"No problem, I’m here to save people," Xu Huo agreed very readily.
With him leading the way, the group successfully left the cinema and went up to the third floor.
Meanwhile, the player who had escaped from the toy reached the ninth floor. This level was full of small rooms; he pushed open a door with a skull hanging on it and went inside to say, "Among the players who came in, there’s a particularly powerful one, unaffected by my props, with strong spiritual power."
Several players gathered around a box-shaped table playing cards; Bald Head, with a cigarette in his mouth, said, "Your trick only works on some novices. Any player with a bit of experience wouldn’t fall for it, don’t underestimate the elites of the Special Defense Department."
The toy player took off his shirt and joined the card game, "It’s just that one, the rest are nothing to worry about. The Special Defense Department simply relies on numbers. Speaking of which, if you really thought the folks from the Special Defense Department were so tough, you wouldn’t be here playing cards."
The players laughed at varying volumes; the man with the blonde buzz cut and a scar at the corner of his mouth interrupted them, "Leave the Special Defense Department to Cui Xi. Our target is Xu Huo... Has he arrived?"
"Thump, thump!" A knocking sound came from beneath the small table, shaking it slightly.
"The cards are a mess, little bunny, behave!" The old player with a hat, struggling to sort his cards, kicked the box impatiently.
It was quiet under the table, and only then did the toy player say, "The information mentioned Xu Huo was good with fire; no player who has come in uses fire."
"Fire is but one characteristic," Blonde Buzz Cut said. "That information hasn’t been updated in a while. As one of the top players in Country X, he must have accumulated a number of high-level props. Bo’en hasn’t returned yet and may already be dead; the man should be here by now."
As he spoke, he tossed his cards, "Keep an eye on the kid; I’m going out for a walk."
The others waved their hands nonchalantly. Blonde Buzz Cut pulled open the door, passed through three secret rooms, and after confirming that his nearby comrades were safe, he walked along a narrow corridor to other rooms. Unlocking one with a code, he suddenly felt a faint current of air behind him!
As he turned around, a pebble fell to the ground, and a red arc of light sprang from beneath Blonde Buzz Cut’s feet, expanding at high speed around him to create a protective barrier that not only shielded him but also smashed everything in the corridor’s vicinity!
"What’s happened?" came an inquiry through the earpiece; Blonde Buzz Cut looked at the sticker of the white female ghost that had landed on the floor, then stepped into another room, "Nothing."
After he had gone some distance, the sticker on the ground slowly drifted up and slid through the gap under the door of the room he had just left.
On several necessary routes, players were on guard. The Girl in the Painting landed in one corridor, her body materializing from her feet up, changing dramatically in height, clothing, and appearance. When the upward-moving glow faded, she had become a seductive blonde in sexy attire.
Rubbing her cheeks red, she walked to the corner in her high heels, her half-exposed snow-white arm twisting a beckoning finger at the player several meters away.
"Cui Xi?" He recognized the accessory on her wrist and called out his comrade’s name, then cautiously approached, but when he saw the Girl in the Painting leaning against the wall, he couldn’t resist closing the distance between them.
The Girl in the Painting hurled herself around his neck with a bewitching smile.
The man bent down to kiss her, but the hands moving behind his neck seemed increasingly odd, ending up with crossed fingers clutched at his Adam’s apple...
The man’s face suddenly changed, but the next second, Girl in the Painting’s hands turned into a thin layer of paper that kept growing, and soon, she wrapped around him with the rolling sheets!
"Burst!" In a deep voice, the man gave the command; the paper around his neck exploded into shreds, yet instead of disintegrating, the scraps turned into thousands of blades that defied the direction of the explosion and buried themselves into his body!
The man’s eyes widened in shock as he stumbled forward, pouring out blood from his mouth.
The Girl in the Painting emerged from behind and caught his hand reaching for his chest, steadying him and leaning him against the wall, then, under his gaze, she pulled off the button transmitter from his chest, twirled it in front of his eyes, and pointed to herself, indicating: Mine.
