Chapter 642: Chapter 642: Pet Expert
The Girl in the Painting sneakily wanted to pat him on the shoulder, but at that moment, Xu Huo turned around and stared at her.
The Girl in the Painting sheepishly withdrew her hand, took out her cellphone, and started typing rapidly, "I’m here to work part-time."
Xu Huo ignored the helicopter hovering in the sky and took out Shelter 101, gesturing for the Girl in the Painting to follow him inside.
After closing the door, he took out the Nüwa Stone and fetched the mycelium he had planted in the nutrient tube beforehand, allowing the roots of the mycelium to touch the stone’s surface.
The mycelium of the King Fungus grew faster on the Nüwa Stone, continually branching out and soon forming a layer of white frost-like network on the stone’s surface.
He placed the Nüwa Stone along with the mycelium into the "Bandit’s Treasure Box" and said to the Girl in the Painting, "Take this box to the depths of the depression. If you find an artifact down there, place the box beside it and create a slit to let the mycelium grow out."
"Of course, it would be better if you could bring the artifact back, but it’s not a problem if you can’t. Just let the mycelium spread underwater."
The Girl in the Painting had changed; she was no longer the tool who barely understood language. She nodded and asked with her phone, "Can I make an excessive request?"
"If you know it’s excessive, don’t ask." Xu Huo was cold in both tone and demeanor, rejecting her without hesitation.
The Girl in the Painting looked at him with a pitiful expression, "Can you listen before rejecting me?"
"Go ahead."
"I also want this stone..."
"No," Xu Huo refused her, "You’re here to work. Workers can’t haggle with their boss. The pay I’m offering isn’t low, and you need to have professional ethics."
The Girl in the Painting pursed her lips. Judging by her expression, her desire for the Nüwa Stone was not as strong as for the Medal of the Radiant Gentleman.
As an enlightened tool, the Girl in the Painting was certainly not as stubbornly principled as Mr. Dong. Xu Huo had hesitated before she arrived, considering whether to entrust the Nüwa Stone to her. However, he had no better solution to swiftly reverse the situation caused by the black rain. Sending the Girl in the Painting was the quickest way.
But now, it seemed all right.
"However, if there’s another medal in the future, I can give you priority," he proposed, adding a condition.
Only then did the Girl in the Painting seem a bit happier. She picked up the box with one hand and lifted her phone with the other, "If I bring back an artifact, does that count as completing the task beyond expectations?"
"Yes, and there will be an additional bonus!"
The Girl in the Painting gave a gesture of encouragement and once again turned into a slip of paper, wrapping around the artifact box and flying out. She knew to avoid crowded places, deliberately detouring from the side before diving headlong into the water!
The box caused a large splash on the water’s surface, drawing the attention of players on the opposite shore and the helicopter above. Codename B moved out from the forest and had just reached the edge of the depression when he suddenly saw a pitch-black figure standing next to a tree!
"Bang, bang," two shots were fired, and the figure vanished with a slight delay.
B’s expression changed instantly as he turned and moved to a different spot, only to have several snakes pounce on him from different directions—not even his camouflage clothing, which was essentially just a piece of cloth and not fully enclosed, could save him. Instinctively, he leaped upwards, only to realize too late that a multitude of colorful snakes were raining down on his face!
"Two-point swap!" B clapped his hands in mid-air, and his figure suddenly flashed to a position five meters away, immediately throwing a miniature bomb towards a certain direction in the woods!
As the explosion and the sound of falling trees echoed, a not-so-tall man ran out from behind the trees, blowing a whistle and pointing at codename B, "Only obedient kitties are good kitties!"
B’s expression changed drastically, not because of the somewhat shameful remark, but because he sensed something striking towards him from all around. Drawing out a Defense Prop to shield himself, the thing, agile as it was, stepped on the prop and pounced atop his head, viciously clawing at him!
"Meow!" The feral cry of the wild cats echoed through the night. Codename B fired repeatedly, killing several wild cats before noticing more cats, snakes, and small animals wriggling in the grass encircling him. He then sped up and broke out of the encirclement, charging straight towards the whistle-blowing player.
The whistle player was none other than Zeng Tai, who had previously quarreled with Wang Chaoqing. He ripped off an earring and threw it, "Dinnertime!"
The earring was shaped like a miniature cat bowl, obviously a prop, because as soon as it was thrown, every cat nearby went berserk, howling and lunging at B.
Codename B fired continuously and used several props, but none were effective against the agile animals. Even as he fought, a hedgehog somehow made its way to his face and stuck onto his protective mask.
"Simple prison!" Zeng Tai threw out a set of handcuffs.
B instinctively dodged to the side, but somehow his prop coat got trampled underfoot, and the instant his clothes were torn off, several wild cats clawed viciously from behind, puncturing his protective suit!
"Fuck!" He cursed, pulling out a new defensive coat to wear, but when he tried to pick up his prop coat, he found it pinned down by the handcuffs, impossible to retrieve.
Meanwhile, Zeng Tai fired his gun in pursuit, forcing codename B to abandon his prop and take cover behind a tree.
The two men entangled in the woods. Initially, Zeng Tai, assisted by small animals, had the upper hand, but as the props became ineffective and the animals were no longer compelled by him, B gradually took control.
"Damn it, this foreign devil is too tenacious!" Zeng Tai called out to his companions for help.
Codename B had more than just one cloak for concealment; he repeatedly hid his presence and ambushed Zeng Tai. In a few short minutes, he not only breached his protective suit but also inflicted several knife wounds that turned black.
"You’ll soon taste the poison of the Alien." B looked at him triumphantly, "By the time you do, you won’t need me to kill you. The companions rushing to your aid will clean house first."
"I don’t understand your fucking language!" Zeng Tai, irate, swung a watermelon knife around wildly in the woods, "I’ll cut down all the trees, let’s see where you can hide then!"
The agitated Zeng Tai was no longer a concern; he hadn’t noticed that B had already moved away.
"Idiot." B looked back at the wildly swinging Zeng Tai and pulled out a tubular cloth prop, slipping it over his head, then slowly stepped into a depression.
The cloth prop isolated him from the poisonous water and mud in the depression. He walked straight to its center and slowly sank his body down and then placed a blue, glowing, circular device underwater, pressing down on it.
After waiting a few seconds, the depression remained calm. Sensing something was wrong, B reached for the device again, only to find himself involuntarily falling forward as all his props disappeared and he was faced with the same white revolving staircase he had seen before!
Just as he was holding the green "Emergency Exit," his arms were severed. Twisting his head around, he saw countless Large Scissors opening and closing on the approaching wall!
