Chapter 270: Magnetic Levitation Magic Cube Maze

Chapter 270: Chapter 270: Magnetic Levitation Magic Cube Maze

He casually set the map aside. Xu Huo asked about Yan Jiayu’s preferences, flipped through the menu, and ordered some dishes. When the plush bunny brought the meal, he also asked if he could tour the castle.

After receiving a handful of candy from him, the plush bunny gladly agreed to show him around.

"I’m going to have a look." After the meal, Xu Huo told Yan Jiayu, then followed the plush bunny out.

Only about a third of the castle’s rooms were occupied because of the game’s rules. Many players were walking around inside the castle, not interfering with one another.

"Dong! Dong! Dong!" The bell rang from above the castle, and the little bunny got excited and shouted, "It’s nine o’clock, time for the fireworks show!"

"Isn’t it raining outside?" Xu Huo turned around, only to realize that the dense curtain of rain had thinned moments ago, and he glanced at his personal panel, which showed eight o’clock, "Is this clock wrong?"

"How could it be wrong?" The little bunny looked back at him, "The castle’s big clock and the C9 Wormhole Point Clock Tower are perfectly synchronized. They show the most accurate time in the game."

Xu Huo paused, then said, "I’ve never been to the C9 Wormhole Point, nor have I seen the Clock Tower. Is it very big?"

"Of course, it’s huge! The Clock Tower is the most famous spot in C9. Lots of people go there to synchronize their time, it’s even more crowded than the amusement park." The little bunny said longingly, "I hear they have a lot of delicious candies there."

"Are they tastier than jar candy?" Xu Huo asked.

"Jar candy is still a bit tastier... but how could a little kid refuse candy?" the little bunny said matter-of-factly.

Right then, fireworks burst open in the sky outside the castle. The little bunny clapped its paws happily, then pulled Xu Huo over to the window to watch. It hopped onto the windowsill, swinging its legs and occasionally letting out a sound of amazement.

After watching the fireworks in various playful and dessert shapes for a while, Xu Huo returned to the room.

Yan Jiayu had fallen asleep, so he went over to the sofa.

After resting for the night, the two of them headed straight for the third game point the next morning.

The amusement park games weren’t difficult, so by noon, they had completed three game points and arrived at the second quiz game location—Magic Cube Maze.

The camping ground of the Magic Cube Maze was much larger than the previous Mirror Tent. Looking across the wide grassland, there were Giant Magic Cubes scattered about, some on the ground, some floating in mid-air, each with its unique shape. Some were laid flat, some were teetering on their corners, and there were ladders made of Magic Cubes for the plushies to climb up and down.

"The Magic Cubes really are floating." Yan Jiayu stood under a Giant Magic Cube, reached out to touch the spinning corner, but angered the plush pig inside it, who yelled, "Don’t you know you shouldn’t touch floating things?"

No sooner had it spoken than the Magic Cube toppled over due to the pig’s forward tilt, and the plush pig also flopped onto the ground. At the same time, not far away, a Magic Cube on the ground began to rise slowly; once it was two meters above the ground, it slanted and hovered mid-air.

The plush pig got up, hugged Yan Jiayu’s leg, and said, "I don’t care, you pay up!"

Yan Jiayu apologized with a guilty expression, "I didn’t do it on purpose, but why does touching the Magic Cube cause it to fall? Can you rise back up after falling?"

"Because you blocked the magnetism spots." The plush pig stamped its feet, "How can it possibly rise again when all the magnetism here is gone, pay up!"

Xu Huo crouched down, picked up a Metal Mini Cube that had fallen out, and gently pushed it forward. To his surprise, the mini cube wobbled and then floated up as well.

"This is magnetic levitation."

Magnetic levitation wasn’t anything mysterious in Zone 014; magnetic levitation trains had been in use for several years now. The Magic Cubes in this campsite rose and fell over a wide area, their movements erratic—apparently naturally formed. However, for them to erupt so regularly in one direction was quite a spectacle.

Glancing at the trembling needle on his watch, he put down the Magic Cube, stood up, and turned back to the mascot pig, "Give me a discount, your stuff isn’t even broken."

The mascot clinging to Yan Jiayu finally relented. After taking the money, it even gave them each a Metal Mini Cube, "Here, play with these."

Yan Jiayu held the Magic Cube, her eyes fixed on the mascot pig, "I think I overpaid."

The mascot pig didn’t care about its stall anymore and turned to run.

"Even the mascots in the amusement park are scam artists!" Yan Jiayu indignantly gathered up the scattered Mini Cubes from the ground, carrying them in her pocket as she walked away—if only the Giant Magic Cube weren’t so unwieldy, she had been tempted to haul away the entire stall.

"Those things are useless to hold onto," laughed Xu Huo.

"They can be useful as stones," she replied, picking up one and weighing it in her hand before hurling it toward an open space. At that moment, a Giant Magic Cube just happened to rise up in front, causing it to wobble and hit another Magic Cube. Several Giant Magic Cubes rolled onto the ground. To make matters worse, the Mini Cube she threw veered off in another direction. After a couple of loud bangs, more Magic Cubes toppled down. The cascading effect of Magic Cubes hitting each other seemed unstoppable!

Yan Jiayu was dumbfounded as a swath of Magic Cubes fell. She no longer cared about her pocket and frantically waved at Xu Huo, "We’ve caused trouble, run, run!"

Having no choice, Xu Huo had to follow her as they ran towards the center of the maze. Soon, a Giant Magic Cube appeared in front of them.

"That should be where the quiz is," he called out to Yan Jiayu, signaling her to stop running.

Yan Jiayu glanced back at the mascots charging towards them and kept moving her feet, looking around the Giant Magic Cube, "Where’s the entrance to this thing?"

The map had recorded this Magic Cube Maze, and Xu Huo was about to speak when a section of Magic Cube on the bottom right began to rotate. Yan Jiayu dashed through the door, startling two players exiting from within.

Seeing the two players take up combat stances, Xu Huo gestured with his hand and then pushed through the Magic Cube section to follow her in.

Yan Jiayu hid next to the door, asking anxiously, "Did those mascots come in?"

Xu Huo gave her a glance, "You can’t run away, you’ll still have to compensate if you go out."

Yan Jiayu made a face, "How would they know it was me, especially since no mascot saw it... I’m out of money."

"All the mascots belong to the amusement park. If one mascot sees something, the rest will know too," Xu Huo explained.

Yan Jiayu paused for a moment, "Are you suggesting the amusement park’s mascots can share vision?"

"It’s possible that the same person is inside all the costumes," Xu Huo had guessed this before and was now a bit more certain. The rabbit, bear, and pig they had seen yesterday seemed to have different personalities on the surface, but some of their minor movements and habits were very similar, including the rabbit that told him about the Clock Tower last night.

If shared vision was a capability of the amusement park clone boss, and assuming this function was valid, then there might be loopholes to exploit in some of the instance’s rules.

"Let’s get through the trivia game first," he said.
