Chapter 1274: Chapter 1275 Special Ore Vein
"They’ll find me soon," said the man wielding the sword. "Staying at the Eternal Star Hotel is far from enough."
Xu Huo’s face darkened, "Are you dragging me into this?"
"No need to put it so harshly," the other replied. "Outside Radiance Clubhouse, only you and I acted to save people; this shows we’re the same kind of people. Since we are, it means you and I are destined to meet."
"Finding a scapegoat and making it sound so refined is rare indeed," Xu Huo snorted, "But I have another choice."
"Reporting me to Flower City won’t help; as soon as you’re involved, Feld’s retainers won’t let you go," said the man wielding the sword.
"Then I don’t quite understand why you’re following me," Xu Huo said, wondering why he was moved to the Eternal Star Hotel if not expecting him to save lives when he knew it was impossible to avoid the pursuit of Flower City players.
"I want to ask you for a favor," the other said. "I’ve checked into the Eternal Star Hotel early. Kairo Field’s men can’t directly enter and capture me. The District Government might not give them face, so they’ll need to report to the higher-ranking Game Government. Clearing the field to catch me would take at least two hours after both sides have communicated."
"I need to stay here for these two hours to draw attention, so I need someone to help me with something."
"You’re very suitable, you almost eluded my tracking, your spirit evolution isn’t bad, so you’re the right choice for this job."
"I refuse." Xu Huo said bluntly.
The severely injured Rank-A Player wasn’t surprised, but smiled instead, "Won’t you hear what it is? Perhaps you’ll find it interesting."
Xu Huo waited in silence for him to continue.
"The long-haired man surnamed Han beside Kairo in Radiance Clubhouse, the Han Family is practically the only rising star involved in controlling Flower City’s lifeline besides several century-old family businesses."
"Zone 001 has many cities of the same level or even better than Flower City. Why did Kairo Field choose to position the central government here?"
"That’s because Flower City has a special ore vein. The extracted ore is transparent, without impurities, and looks like diamond, but isn’t. The entire ore vein is excellent material for making props, especially space-time items."
Xu Huo’s expression turned serious. Usually, ores capable of crafting space-time items are secondary stones influenced by special primeval stones and are extremely scarce. If Flower City had such a highly productive ore vein, it would’ve become the target of other Wormhole Points long ago, and Kairo Field wouldn’t need to go out of his way.
"I’m not talking about those common space-time props," the man wrapped his reopened wound with the cloth again and continued, "but about a kind of space-time prop that can predict certain events within a small range."
Xu Huo raised an eyebrow, "Before crafting, the final effect of props made from stones with special attributes may not be determined. Even the most skilled artifact makers can’t always predict accurately. Flower City’s veins can achieve such results?"
"Of course not all can be successful, but among the ores exported from Flower City, one or two out of ten used as prop materials would have this attribute."
One or two out of ten, this ratio is quite significant, meaning that almost one-tenth of the entire ore vein could become such props.
"Predict a specific event within a small range... is it predicting the future?"
So far, Xu Huo has encountered events related to predicting the future barely three times.
The first time, of course, was at Rose Castle. He Pu’s will stated that he was waiting for an heir, and coincidentally, the lighter purposely left on the scene by him before hiding became a game reward prop in his hands—this kind of connection seemed like He Pu foresaw it and deliberately waited at Rose Castle.
The second time was meeting a Paper Servant Master in Clown City, who also mentioned the word "fate" and knew he carried a part of Feld’s Battle Angel. However, he didn’t seem very interested in that part but hinted about the future.
The most precise encounter was with the painter Jiang Jiang in Zone 009, who could draw the deaths of people around her in advance and predicted she would die in Zone 009 by his hand, sooner or later.
Before this, she must have validated it, so she was confident about her future death.
Xu Huo wasn’t clear about the situations of He Pu and the Paper Servant Master, but Jiang Jiang’s case was very obvious. She indeed foresaw the future in some way, and the time span was quite long.
"Can you really predict the future?" Xu Huo couldn’t help but doubt. "Isn’t that contrary to existing science?"
"I only went to school for three years," the man admitted, implying he didn’t have the knowledge for theoretical discussions. "But predictive props do exist. Of course, their effectiveness varies. I once got a few that could only predict my breakfast for the next morning or the shoes I’d wear when going out in the evening—utterly useless."
How could it be useless?
Xu Huo was speechless. If these props weren’t results based on the player’s daily habits or psychological suggestions for players, it would mean that time items, in a certain sense, surpassed existing scientific achievements, impacting the game world significantly.
"The truth is they’re just useless," the man wielding the sword said. "Even the Advanced Wormhole Site couldn’t figure them out, otherwise, why do you think Kairo Field would appear here?"
Xu Huo was equally unskilled in this area, so he switched the topic, "Does the Han Family have the mining rights to this vein?"
"Joint mining rights, shared with a few other small partners, once every five years," said the man wielding the sword as he noticed Xu Huo’s growing interest, speeding up his explanation. "The ore vein is beneath Flower City, and those tunnels underground aren’t for transporting people."
"Can you enter the vein from the underground rail?"
"Only one entrance," the man replied. "But it’s sealed off. In a zone directly controlled by the government, besides the few with mining rights, no one can enter... unfortunately, my last two companions died there."
Xu Huo didn’t think he intended for him to force his way into the ore vein entrance. "What’s your goal?"
"It’s simple," the man wielding the sword sneered, "Pollute the vein, so Kairo Field doesn’t get what he wants."
A tragic and stirring "love triangle."
But Xu Huo understood, "You want me to suggest to the Han Family people to have their insiders pollute the vein themselves?"
"If that’s your plan, then I’m sorry, I’m not good at hypnotic suggestions."
The man showed disappointment in his eyes but said, "Can’t you learn? Having spirit evolution but not even knowing hypnosis, such a waste!"
"So that’s your plan?" Returning to the topic’s beginning, Xu Huo said, "In my view, the probability of success is lower than strapping a bomb and going all-in."
