Chapter 1222: Chapter 1222: Six Types of Cards or Seven Types of Cards
No one spoke among the people present, and Xu Huo slowly continued after asking the question, "I think Flower City isn’t bad. Maybe if we scatter petals from above, the residents below would think it’s a celebration."
"Indiscriminate attacks, affecting anyone, including players, are possible. Even if players manage to escape, their family members might still take a hit or two. It’s both intimidating and theatrical. Whether it’s the 001 Government, the base, or Hengxing Group, even if no one sustains casualties, they’ll still feel the threat from the players."
After a long while, Mu Yan finally spoke, "Are you serious?"
Xu Huo’s gaze swept over the faces of the three men with glasses, then he relaxed his expression and smiled, "Not at all, I’m just talking nonsense."
The three players looked a bit awkward. After a few seconds, the man with glasses spoke, "This method might actually be feasible."
Xu Huo lowered his head and chuckled, saying nothing further. Beside him, Mu Yan finally couldn’t help herself, "The E27 Central Government is located in District 001. Card City and Flower City are both relatively important cities. Every player steps into the surveillance zone as soon as they get off the transport. Unless someone can disguise their appearance, body shape, and behavioral habits in extreme short order, the instruments can easily identify player identities."
"Even if you can achieve a complete makeover, if someone suddenly disappears in a particular area, the instruments will first rule out the possibility of leaving via tickets, then proceed to screen nearby areas. For instance, suddenly appearing individuals or unfamiliar faces. If none of those are detected, it then starts inspecting surrounding facilities. Important locations go without saying, but nearby shops, small stores, restrooms, and underground pipes are all on the inspection list..."
"Honestly, if someone decided to rob a flying vehicle, they might instantly be flagged on the danger list upon approach. With the slightest odd movement, Rank-A Players will immediately confront you. And if Rank-A Players aren’t enough, there are always Super Players stationed there."
"The Feld Family heir is here, and since it’s the E27 Central Government, there might be more than one Super Player."
It’s widely known that the Game Government itself has Super Players, and these players are unranked during their training period.
If someone could cause a disturbance in District 001, it would actually be impressive.
And even if they narrowly escape, in the end, they may still become fugitives.
"Hey," the man with mutton chop beards stroked his chin, "We were just bullshitting, joking around, no need to be so serious."
This time Mu Yan felt a bit embarrassed.
"Perhaps we should change topics back to this instance," Big Belly eased the atmosphere, "Do you guys know how many categories the numbered cards belong to?"
"Aside from Trap Cards, Clue Cards, and Counter Cards, are there other types of cards?" Mu Yan quickly followed up.
"There are also Location Cards," said the man with glasses, "Some numbered cards specifically designate the location of the Flower Cards."
"Among numbered cards, Trap Cards seem to be especially abundant," Xu Huo added, "On the way here, Trap Cards were what we encountered the most."
Big Belly raised a finger and wagged it, "The numbered cards have an equal quantity for each type."
Xu Huo tilted his head slightly; this was very important information.
"This is the first time I’m hearing about this," the man with mutton chop beards said, his demeanor becoming more serious. "Has this been verified?"
"At least I haven’t confirmed it myself," Big Belly replied. "But this information was purchased from acquaintances on the District 001 player forums. It’s reliable. They’ve obtained it through internal channels. The data is from Advanced Players personally grinding instances, with 99% accuracy."
Everyone silently calculated the card categories. After a while, the man with glasses said, "If that’s the case, 42 cards definitely wouldn’t divide evenly."
"Trap Cards, Clue Cards, Counter Cards, Location Cards—four types in total."
"It shouldn’t just be four types," the man with mutton chop beards argued. "If we assume there’s a minimum of four types, to evenly distribute all 42 cards except the Flower Cards, there should be at least six types."
Based on the information Xu Huo had obtained, in addition to the four types already mentioned, there was a Drawing Card. Plus, the "Caller" player who appeared last night might have held a numbered card, rather than activating a special effect from the maze wall.
However, if that were true, the quantity for each card type would be odd. From what he knew about numbered cards, only the number 12 had clearly defined effects for both black and white versions. The numbered card 12, regardless of black or white, was a Trap Card.
If the contents of the same numbered card were classified identically, then odd quantities wouldn’t exist. The card types would need to increase to at least seven categories to ensure each type has three pairs.
Of course, odd quantities couldn’t be entirely ruled out. After all, the content of numbered cards changes, and during gameplay, the nature of the cards isn’t necessarily fixed.
"There are still two card types we don’t know," Big Belly said. "If we could meet more players, we might be able to figure it out."
"Speak of Cao Cao, and Cao Cao arrives," the man with glasses suddenly looked toward one end of the corridor, "Isn’t someone coming from over there?"
He was looking behind Xu Huo, but Xu Huo didn’t need to turn around to know there was nobody behind him.
"You’re seeing things—there’s no one there," said the man with mutton chop beards, following the gaze.
"The fog is too thick," the man with glasses said. "Isn’t there someone standing in the mist?"
As he spoke, he stood up and waved at the figure, "Hey, buddy, come over and warm up with us!"
The man with mutton chop beards and Big Belly exchanged glances. The latter said, "There’s definitely no one there. Are you poisoned?"
Upon hearing that, the man with glasses immediately took out a detector. Mu Yan interrupted, "If it’s a hallucination caused by mutant plants, your device might not pick it up. Use mine instead."
She handed him a blood detector that was clearly more advanced.
The man with glasses glanced at it, then accepted without hesitation, pressing it against his finger. After detection, a figure of 2.6 popped up.
"If the hallucinogenic substance in your blood exceeds 2, you’re poisoned," Mu Yan quickly explained. "But it’s not serious. Just drink two bottles of antitoxin. I’ll tell you the names, and you buy them yourself."
Following her instructions, the man with glasses purchased antitoxin, consumed it, then looked into the dense fog again. He smiled slyly at Mu Yan, "You seem to know this maze very well."
"I just know something about the habits of mutant plants," Mu Yan replied. "It’s related to my previous occupation."
"That’s a good profession," the man with glasses praised. "It’ll be easier to find work in District Government—perhaps even gain Grey Player status or escape the game entirely."
Mu Yan likewise avoided this topic, steering the conversation elsewhere, "How should we arrange the night watch?"
"I’m a night owl. I can stay up; you guys decide," the man with glasses shrugged.
Xu Huo glanced at him, "I can take the second half of the night."
"I’m old, so let me take the easy shift," Big Belly said with a smiling face. "Little lady can join me."
The man with mutton chop beards didn’t object, nodding his head—but his head suddenly fell off his neck!
