Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die! -
Chapter 1220: Two Flower Cards
Chapter 1220: Chapter 1220: Two Flower Cards
The two people who were hindered simultaneously turned their gaze toward Xu Huo, who stood nearby.
Xu Huo smiled and mediated, "Since it’s a game, wouldn’t it be fair if you drew once and I drew once? The countdown is about to end, so let’s not waste time."
"Who the hell are you, and what does this have to do with you?" The braided-haired player retorted coldly, "Go find somewhere else to die; I don’t have time to deal with you right now!"
With that said, he tried to use his prop again, but was once again stopped by Xu Huo.
Ignoring the other’s anger, Xu Huo said indifferently, "Missing two players isn’t a big problem, but missing one would require the game to re-calibrate, redraw cards, and restart. I think this unnecessary game doesn’t need a second round, don’t you agree?"
Not waiting for the two to reply, he continued, "Losing just one person might be inconvenient, but losing two would still be manageable."
The implication of his words was clear: regardless of who among the two survived in the end, Xu Huo would help finish them off to conclude the card-draw game in one round.
Neither player knew Xu Huo’s strength, but neither wanted to fight to the end only to have him reap the benefits.
"I don’t want a second round either," Mu Yan voiced her stance at this moment. "If everyone keeps breaking the rules, wouldn’t the card-draw game drag on endlessly? How many people would even survive in the end? Rather than squabbling here over one or two cards, why not save some time and go outside to search for cards?"
The remaining female player kept silent, but sometimes silence is also a form of attitude.
Weighing the pros and cons, the two reluctantly yielded, allowing the braided-haired player to draw his second card.
After successfully resolving the second group’s turn, it was Mu Yan and the female player’s turn next.
Mu Yan owned only two cards, with one of them being a Trap Card, so no matter how she picked, she would still come out ahead. She didn’t waste time observing others and casually pointed to a card.
The female player, unsurprisingly, drew an empty card. Keeping her composure far better than the previous male player, she generously let Mu Yan draw a second card.
"The card-exchange game is finished."
With the maze’s announcement, Xu Huo and Mu Yan returned to their original corridor as if nothing had happened. Once back, Mu Yan said first, "I only drew one Trap Card: Black Card 19. The second one is an empty card."
Xu Huo gestured for her not to be so nervous, saying, "The number cards 5 and 19 you hold are both Trap Cards. Likewise, the number cards 12 and 9 are also Trap Cards."
Beyond that, he had also acquired a few other types of cards, though Trap Cards made up the majority.
So far, he had seen or learned about quite a number of cards, but encountered very few players. Honestly speaking, fifty-four cards were far from enough for everyone, even if six cards were sufficient to trigger randomization.
Could it be that this instance really had multiple sets of cards?
"How many cards do you have now?" Mu Yan asked. "I only have three cards, and two of them are Trap Cards—I can’t even discard them."
"What’s the content of Black Card 19?"
"My first-path card will disappear during the instance," Mu Yan shrugged, her attitude indifferent. "I’ve already used it once, and there’s no way to turn back now anyway, so this card is basically useless."
Xu Huo nodded, "I currently have five cards."
Previously, he had six cards—Black Card 11 had been randomized away, White Card 12 was drawn, and he had gained an additional White Flower Card. Now, his current cards were:
The first card, Black Number Card 1; Black Flower Card Flower Scepter; Dissipation Card White Number Card 8; Position-Hint Flower Card White Number Card 6; and White Flower Card Gemstone Cloak.
The Dissipation Card not only cancels another card but also ceases to occupy a slot itself, so he still had room for three more cards.
"It’s getting dark; let’s find a place to stay for the night," Mu Yan suggested. "Ideally, near a dead-end or wrong path close to the correct corridor. That way, other players are less likely to wander over."
While dusk had not fully settled in, the maze began to fill with mist, which was even denser than the previous night’s fog.
"Does such heavy fog have any effect on mutant plants?" Xu Huo asked casually as they searched for a location.
"Mutant plants are quite sensitive to the environment—some don’t like excessively humid air and become less active. However, others thrive in this weather, especially those with hallucinatory effects." Mu Yan paused briefly before adding, "Thanks for the reminder. When resting, we should wear protective gear; people often fall victim without realizing it."
Eventually, they settled on a wrong path slightly deviated from the correct direction. Surprisingly, they weren’t the only players there.
Opposite them, three people sat around a furnace, cooking with their own ingredients. Upon seeing Xu Huo and Mu Yan, one of them, a man wearing glasses, waved and greeted, "Meeting is fate. Come join us for some food."
"Want to pick another spot?" Mu Yan asked Xu Huo. Xu Huo slightly shook his head and joined the group.
The three were quite talkative, cheerfully making space for them. Another man, sporting mutton chop beards, took a sip of his drink, wiped his mouth, and said, "If mutant plants weren’t so sensitive to strong odors, I’d have roasted a whole lamb here."
"That’s not a big deal. Just buy a deodorizing prop and a special barbecue cabin," suggested the third player, who seemed about forty years old. His belly protruded noticeably, and his thick black hair was carefully combed as he spoke.
The bespectacled man, scholarly in appearance, interjected, "Better safe than sorry. In an instance, it’s always wiser not to take risks—nothing is off the table outside anyway."
"It’s only because we’re weak," grumbled Mutton Chop Beards. "Rumor has it that the Artifact Maker who created this maze instance intentionally designed it this way, afraid that players would dirty his maze."
"I don’t get it. It’s just food—how’s that worse than those gut-spilling grotesque things? The maker tolerates those without complaint yet despises us normal diners."
"Maybe he hates it all, but Cannibal Players simply can’t be avoided," Mu Yan pointed out.
Mutton Chop Beards paused mid-drink, then slapped his forehead and laughed, "You’re right, but that’s revolting enough as it is!"
"Little miss, you’re from District 001?" Big Belly eyed Mu Yan with a smile. "People from District 001 are easy to spot, especially those from Flower City. I hear that the city is covered in flowers, with overpowering fragrances. Live there for six months and you’ll come out smelling like perfume—for a long time, too."
"Apparently, it was designed to please an important member of a large clan—so it’s not much different from a feudal lord’s whims," he added.
Mu Yan merely smiled without replying.
"I visited Flower City once," the bespectacled man chimed in, "The environment there is exceptional. Even the Game Government Base relocated a branch there, elevating the city’s resource allocation to a whole new level. Apart from Central City, no other city can compete; many people dream of settling there."
He spoke with a hint of envy, looking at Mu Yan, "Living there must come with great perks. I heard many players work for the Game Government Base."
