Chapter 63: Lucien Rivero part 3
Chapter 63: Lucien Rivero part 3
[BEEP]
[The Jyera Apocalypse begins in 7 days!]
[New Missions Have Been Issued!]
"Are you okay, Lucien?" Nina asked as she grabbed his arm and helped him recover from his stumble.
Lucien stopped paying attention to the missions and focused on spending time with his friends... He still didn’t believe there would be an apocalypse in 7 days, so it was best not to tell his friends yet.
William paid for his lunch again, and this time Lucien wasn’t too worried about being seen. If he could run like he did this morning, he wouldn’t have to worry about Kurt and his gang of bullies.
"I’m sorry your father forgot about your appointment... My mom and dad are always like that, too," William said with a sad look as he ate his lunch.
"At least they’re still together. Since my parents divorced, I’ve only been living with my mom, and since she got a new boyfriend, she barely has time to do anything with me..." This time, it was Nina who shared her home situation.
"Let’s not talk about sad things, let’s do something together this weekend?" Lucien asked.
"We can go to the movies on Saturday to watch a movie, how about that?" William asked excitedly.
"Only if it’s a romantic comedy!" Nina affirmed.
"No, that’s too boring... I want to see the new Aliens movie!"
"You picked the movie last time!" Nina retorted, frowning.
"We have plenty of time on Saturday, we can watch both, how about that?" Lucien asked, smiling as he calmed his friends. And they both answered together:
"Yes..."

Afternoon classes went well, but Lucien didn’t pay attention to them again. He took the opportunity to test the only skill that seemed available and normal at the moment, and that also wasn’t strange or required anything like using corpses... The whole thing was so strange it almost seemed like a necromancer’s skills...
Just as the description showed, Lucien had a space the size of a garage, which was currently empty. It was basically like an inventory in one of his many games. He just had to think the word inventory, and it would appear in his mind, showing an empty space...
Unbeknownst to William, sitting next to him, Lucien placed several school supplies inside this "space" and quickly understood how it worked. It was easy to put something in and take it out with just a single thought, and he did this several times to get used to it... Now all that was left was to test the food more to make sure it didn’t spoil...
As soon as the bell rang, Lucien said goodbye to his friends and left via his usual route, while William took a more distant route, exiting through the back of the school. It didn’t take long for him to spot the group of bullies waiting for him in the same spot...
But just as Lucien saw them, they saw him too.
"Quickly, surround him, and don’t let him get away this time!" shouted an angry Kurt.
But instead of heading in the direction they were surrounding him, Lucien turned and ran as if he were going back to school. Instead, he took a side street, running around a parallel block until he returned to where the boys had initially ambushed him.
For Lucien, running so fast while circling the block was nothing, but for Kurt and the boys, it was too much, and they were already starting to get out of breath. He also didn’t run at his current fastest speed, always giving the illusion that he was very close to being caught by them.
"Quickly, don’t stop, he must be tired already, and his house is still far away!" Kurt said, not wanting to give up.
But again, Lucien just toyed with them, running, stopping, pretending to rest... He did this to ensure they stayed tired and away from the path to William’s house. And of course, he also did it to irritate Kurt and the others to the point where they hated him more than their friend...
But Lucien underestimated Kurt’s anger... During one of his fake "rest" breaks, Kurt picked up a rock from a nearby lawn and threw it, nearly hitting Lucien’s head...
Lucien’s eyes widened as he saw the huge rock graze his head, and he became furious. Without thinking twice, he picked up another rock of similar size and threw it back, but unconsciously, his kinder side reduced the force of his throw and switched to aiming for Kurt’s leg. Otherwise, with his good aim, he would have easily hit him in the head.
"Punch"
"AHHH"
Lucien’s eyes widened as he saw Kurt fall to the ground screaming, clutching his knee where the rock had hit. Desperate, he turned and ran home at top speed, only occasionally glancing back...
It was the first time Lucien had hurt someone, and he was worried Kurt would call the police or something...
Trying to calm himself, he went into the house.
"Dad, I’m home!"
"Dad?"
When he arrived at the apartment, Lucien called for his father, but got no answer. So he went to his father’s room to check if he was better. But he was startled to find his father lying on the floor. He was pale, sweaty, and his body was shaking as if he were having chills.
"DAD!"
"DAD? WAKE UP!"
Lucien screamed repeatedly, trying to wake his father up, but to no avail.
"Wait, Dad, I’m calling a doctor!"
He then reached for the phone on the dresser and started dialing 911.
But suddenly, his father’s hand, which had been trembling before, grabbed his hand and the phone, and said in a serious, whispered tone:
"No hospitals!"
"What?"
Lucien looked at his father in disbelief. After saying those words, his arm lost strength, and he fell unconscious again.
"Why?"
Lucien asked, mumbling, trying to understand why he didn’t want to go to a hospital, even when he was so sick. But hearing his father’s voice for a moment made him lessen his concern for his well-being. He struggled to get him onto the bed and covered him with the blanket. It was only then that he realized he had single-handedly lifted a grown man off the floor.
Even though he had done it in parts, placing his torso first, then his legs, he still proved the system was working again. He did have some kind of power related to being a Mutant...
"Meow."
Returning to the living room, Mr. Mustache came up to Lucien and rubbed against his legs as if welcoming him.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Mustache, no fast food for us today... Come, I’ll give you your food..."
While putting out food for his cat, he took out a meal in a glass dish and put it in the microwave to heat up. It was the food Dona Yolanda had left half-prepared for him and his father for dinner. Lucien then finally went to check the many missions the system was asking him to complete. But he was interrupted again.
"Ding-dong."
"Who could it be at this hour?"
It was already dark, and he couldn’t remember anyone coming to visit.
When Lucien opened the door, he saw a middle-aged man. He was dark-skinned, bald, and had a full mustache and beard. Lucien didn’t recognize him, so he kept his guard up, quickly glancing at his clothes. He wore pants and a simple dress shirt, with a suit jacket over it without a tie—a common outfit in the city, typically worn by white-collar workers.
"Good evening, my name is Harrison, and I’m a detective with the Kaelor police. Excuse me for coming so late. Is this Miss Katherine Rivero’s residence?" the man asked politely, flashing his badge.
Lucien froze. Kurt had indeed gone to the police. He swallowed a few times and remained silent for more than ten seconds, unable to answer the officer.
"You kid, there’s no need to be scared. Is there an adult I can talk to inside the house?"
"I-I... Am I in trouble? They were the ones who chased me and threw rocks at me first..."
The officer raised an eyebrow and stifled a laugh... "I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I didn’t come here for you..."
"Ahem."
Lucien cleared his throat, realizing he’d almost confessed something he shouldn’t have. He then regained his composure and remembered the proper etiquette before responding clearly and directly:
"Good evening, Detective. I’m Lucien Rivero, and yes, this is Katherine’s house. She’s my mother. But there aren’t any adults home right now."
The detective took a card from his pocket and handed it to Lucien.
"There’s been an unusual incident in the city of Aethoria, and we want to ask your mother or father some questions. Give them the card when they get home and ask them to call me, okay?"
"Okay..."
"Excuse me..."
After saying goodbye, the police officer returned to the elevator and left. Inside the apartment, Lucien went to the phone and tried to contact his mother, but to no avail...
