Chapter 605: Chapter 605: Shen Junlan: I Will Be Sad

Upon hearing this, Jiang Fangzheng’s face instantly turned dark.

A vein on his forehead bulged like the gnarled roots of an old tree, large and ominous, creating a rather terrifying sight.

Bang!

Immediately after, he raised his hand and heavily slapped it down on the ceramic tabletop.

The ceramic surface shattered violently, splintering like a spiderweb with numerous fragments flying in all directions.

It even managed to scrape the faces of those subordinates who were unfortunate enough to be standing too close.

Even so, they remained kneeling on the ground, daring not to move an inch.

Having failed the mission, they were worried that further angering Jiang Fangzheng would cost them their lives.

Although startled, they merely shivered and did not dare to do anything more, waiting for Jiang Fangzheng’s further orders.

"That guy! That guy is utterly detestable! How dare he show such disregard for me, Jiang Fangzheng!"

Before becoming a Warlord, let alone after, who did not show him some modicum of respect when they met?

Even those of War God Level would at least treat him with enough respect not to embarrass him publicly, extending courtesy on both sides.

But what about Chen Wei?

Jiang Fangzheng genuinely wanted to grab Chen Wei by the neck, pull him close, and demand, "What makes you say that I can’t afford to offend you? Who gave you the audacity? Who gave you the courage? Huh!"

"Zhao Hui!" Jiang Fangzheng shouted, hands on his hips.

"Yes! Warlord!" A man walked in from outside, turning away from the wall.

His name was Zhao Hui, one of the Four Great War Generals under Jiang Fangzheng, and could be considered a confidant.

Jiang Fangzheng had always valued Zhao Hui and had promoted him numerous times.

There’s a saying: train your soldiers for a thousand days to use them for one moment.

Jiang Fangzheng felt that this was the time to send out Zhao Hui.

As for why not take action himself?

The reason was simple: it wasn’t out of fear, but because, Jiang Fangzheng considered himself a Warlord now, and should not stoop to the level of a commoner, nor personally deal with him.

If word got out, it would be a laughingstock!

In plain terms, Jiang Fangzheng felt that doing so would be giving Chen Wei too much credit and demeaning his own status, which was not worthwhile.

Having Zhao Hui take care of it should suffice; he could easily accomplish the task and return with good news.

After all, Zhao Hui was officially recognized by the Hawk Faction as a powerful general capable of taking on a hundred foes by himself!

To deal with a trifling Chen Wei should surely be a piece of cake.

"This matter, I entrust to you. Don’t let me down," Jiang Fangzheng said as he approached Zhao Hui and lightly patted his shoulder a few times.

"Rest assured, Warlord, my work will never disappoint you, not once!" Zhao Hui solemnly assured.

Jiang Fangzheng did not doubt this.

Indeed, the fact was that from their first meeting up to now, Zhao Hui had always perfectly, if not exceedingly, completed all of his orders.

If that were not the case, Jiang Fangzheng would not have promoted him to be one of his Four Great War Generals.

"Good, go then. I’ll be waiting to celebrate with a drink; I’ve just received two bottles of fine liquor," said Jiang Fangzheng, withdrawing his hand and giving the instruction.

"Yes!" Zhao Hui turned and left.

He did not bring anyone else with him.

He preferred solo operations over working with a team, for there were few whom he truly esteemed.

Jiang Fangzheng was one, and the other three War Generals were three more.

Those he looked down upon were naturally a burden.

Why bother bringing hindrances that only get in the way?

To deal with Chen Wei, there was no need for a second War General; he alone was more than enough to decimate the man!

Zhao Hui was also thinking he should quickly dispose of Chen Wei and return to share the victory and enjoy a drink with Jiang Fangzheng.

No sooner had Zhao Hui left the premises than Jiang Fangzheng’s phone started to ring.

Picking it up, he saw it was an email.

After entering the password and decoding it.

A piece of text, accompanied by a photo.

The text read: This person is the killer who murdered your brother.

The man in the photo was all too familiar to Jiang Fangzheng, "Him again!"

Grinding his teeth, he crushed the photo in his hand, Jiang Fangzheng had never imagined that right after Chen Wei had murdered his brother, he dared to lay a hand on his woman.

This guy, he has no reason not to die! He must die!

With that thought, Jiang Fangzheng sent a message to Zhao Hui. It contained only one sentence: Alive, I want to see the person; dead, I want to see the body!

Upon seeing the message, Zhao Hui quickly replied with a simple "OK".

Following the satellite positioning, he quickly set off toward the location of Chen Wei and Shen Junlan.

Meanwhile, looking at Chen Wei and Shen Junlan.

The two were still eating barbecue and drinking.

Perhaps it was because she couldn’t think of how to persuade Chen Wei to leave River City, to leave Great Xia.

In desperation, Shen Junlan simply gave up trying and drowned her sorrows in alcohol, drinking more and more.

Her tolerance was never that strong, and at this moment, her face was flushed with red.

She looked, a bit more seductive.

In such a state, few other men could resist having impure thoughts if they saw her.

The hotel was quite close.

With just a turn of the head, you could see the colorful variety of signs.

"Come on, Mr. Chen, let’s drink up!" Shen Junlan raised the bottle of beer in her hand, not even bothering with a glass.

Chen Wei, however, was completely sober, merely accompanying Shen Junlan in her drinking.

If he could stay sober drinking Chinese liquor, let alone this low-alcohol-content beer.

Drinking it felt almost like water.

With a slight scent of malt fermentation.

It could only be said that it wasn’t hard to drink, nor particularly delicious.

He was entirely drinking in the atmosphere.

The owners of the barbecue shop didn’t dare to say much. As long as Chen Wei and Shen Junlan said a word, they would immediately come up and serve enthusiastically.

Only because they knew that their identities were not simple and they couldn’t afford to offend them.

Joking aside, their status couldn’t be simple if they dared to disregard the Warlord. How simple could it be?

Moreover, it was not just a matter of disregarding the Warlord, they had also physically beaten and chased away dozens of his people.

This gained even more respect from the couple.

After all, better safe than sorry; being polite was always right.

"Mr. Chen, why won’t you just agree to leave? Don’t you know if you get hurt, I would feel very guilty, very sad?"

"Why do you have to be such a worry?"

Hearing this, Chen Wei could be sure that Shen Junlan was, eight or nine out of ten, drunk.

She wouldn’t speak to him in that tone and manner under normal circumstances.

It wasn’t their first day of acquaintance.

"Why feel guilty and sad? This is my own choice; it has nothing to do with you," Chen Wei responded offhandedly.

He intended to make Shen Junlan worry less and not to feel so burdened with guilt.

He wasn’t considering that aspect at all; she was just thinking too much.

"Because of me! I ..." Her momentum suddenly softened.

It was as if the words at the tip of her tongue were swallowed back due to timidity.

"What?" Chen Wei asked with curiosity.

"Of course, because we’re friends, partners in business! Yes, friends! And important partners!" Shen Junlan affirmed to herself.

Seeing her like this, Chen Wei didn’t give it much thought.

He didn’t notice that for a brief moment, a glimmer of lucidity returned to Shen Junlan’s eyes.

Her blush was not entirely due to the beer.
