Chapter 295: Chapter 295 Atmosphere Peaks

"No more joking, can you get out of bed and walk now?" Chen Wei always felt that Li Feier’s attitude was so different from before that if they continued talking, the conversation could veer off anywhere.

"Let me try." Li Feier propped herself up with her hands, bent her knees, and pressed her feet against the bed, wanting to test how much weight her feet could bear.

But as soon as she put a little pressure downwards, her legs started to ache uncontrollably, and she had to give up, "Looks like it’s not possible."

"Then you’ll probably have to stay in the hotel for tonight and we can see how well you’ve recovered tomorrow morning." Chen Wei could carry Li Feier out of the hotel, get her in the car and take her home, but there was no need.

There was no need to trouble Li Feier; she needed rest and quiet to recover.

"Hmm, I was already staying outside for the convenience of songwriting, so there’s no need to worry about my parents," Li Feier said with an "I can manage" attitude.

"Do you want to eat anything else, or do something to pass the boring time? You can tell me anything."

"No need, I just had such a big pot of soup, how can I drink more?" Li Feier glanced at the casserole on the bedside table and touched her slightly bulging belly.

"Then I’ll turn on the TV for you, watch some programs to kill time." Chen Wei picked up the remote, pressed it towards the TV, and found an entertainment channel.

"Okay," Li Feier agreed.

She then turned to look out the window, "It’s so late already, if you don’t go back now, that sister from earlier will probably be worried, right?"

"Don’t worry about her." Chen Wei knew that the sister mentioned by Li Feier was Leng Qianqian, "Besides, I wasn’t planning on going back today."

"Not planning to go back? Are you planning to stay with me in the hotel overnight?" Li Feier wasn’t particular about the impropriety of a man and a woman sharing a room; she was simply surprised by Chen Wei’s decision.

"Yes," Chen Wei confirmed, "You’ve just been out of life-threatening danger, and you’re still weak. We need to keep an eye on you to make sure everything is fine, in case something happens, I’ll be here to deal with it promptly."

"I see," Li Feier had nothing to say, as Chen Wei was ultimately considering her safety.

For the next two hours, Chen Wei and Li Feier sat quietly, one on the bed and one on the bedside, watching TV.

The show ended, and it was nine o’clock in the evening.

"Ah..." Li Feier, feeling sleepy, covered half of her face with her hand and yawned, as she was used to going to bed early.

"Where are you going?" she asked immediately as Chen Wei stood up.

"I’m going to book a room next to yours. Once I’m sure you’re stable, I’ll head over there to sleep," Chen Wei answered.

"Isn’t there an extra bed here?" Li Feier pointed with her hand.

"The bed got all wet when I carried you out of the bathtub and wiped you down, so it’s not fit for sleeping," Chen Wei explained.

"Okay," Li Feier didn’t insist.

Seven or eight minutes later.

The door lock beeped open.

Chen Wei returned to the hotel room.

Li Feier asked immediately, "Did you get a room?"

"No, there’s a company event nearby today, and they’ve booked all the rooms," Chen Wei said with a bitter smile. It looked like he would have to make do with the small sofa near the balcony for the night.

"Is that so? That’s really unlucky," Li Feier felt the atmosphere was somewhat awkward, unsure of what to say while staying with Chen Wei in such a small room.

After calming down and clearing her thoughts, Li Feier’s heart became even more chaotic.

"By the way, you... are you really the Heavenly God of Protecting the Country? I thought I heard the names of the White Tiger War God and Wei Shuyang just now." Li Feier knew wisdom didn’t necessarily come with age, yet she couldn’t help but be astonished.

The Heavenly God of Protecting the Country was the Guardian God of Great Xia, who had slain countless enemies in battle, driving invaders from other countries who wished to breach Great Xia’s borders into disarray, to the point where they fled in panic and signed treaties agreeing not to attack for a hundred years...

Such a figure, in Li Feier’s imagination, already had graying temples.

Yet, she hadn’t anticipated that he would be so young, or one might even say, too young.

After all, Chen Wei had never appeared on television news, and his image had always been tightly under wraps.

"You might not believe it, but I really am him," Chen Wei nodded.

"If that’s the case, why would they want to kill you? Isn’t peace and prosperity a good thing? What’s the point in being a traitor to one’s own country?" Li Feier asked, puzzled.

"I had disappeared for three years; during that time, many responsibilities that I was in charge of were taken over by others. Officially, they were acting as proxies, but now that I am back, it’s inevitable that some people don’t want to give up that power."

Upon hearing Chen Wei’s explanation, Li Feier had a sudden revelation. "Power is indeed a terrifying thing."

The power to rival the Heavenly God of Protecting the Country—who could willingly give it up and resist the temptation?

"Alright, let’s not talk about this. It’s getting late, and you should rest now. It’ll help your body heal," Chen Wei walked towards the area near the balcony and plunked down on the sofa.

"Why don’t... you come sleep on the bed?" Li Feier hesitated before finally voicing her suggestion.

"Uh, you mean share a bed with you?" Chen Wei asked uncertainly.

"The single beds in this hotel are pretty big. They should be enough for two people," Li Feier said as she scooted over a bit to make space for Chen Wei.

"Isn’t that a bit inappropriate?" Chen Wei didn’t hurry to stand up.

"It’s even more inappropriate to let someone who saved my life sleep on the sofa. If it really comes down to it, I’ll sleep on the sofa, and you take the bed."

Seeing that Li Feier indeed intended to get out of bed, Chen Wei had no choice but to get up. "Don’t! Let’s just sleep together then."

Feeling the subtle movements next to her, Li Feier didn’t have the courage to look.

As she opened the comforter, a gust of cool air made her instantly remember—she wasn’t wearing a single piece of clothing!

Chen Wei also realized this after he drew back the comforter and saw a flash of white.

Hastily, he climbed into bed and pulled the comforter tightly around himself. "It seems like the hotel is quite busy today; I’m guessing the clothes won’t be dried and returned until tomorrow."

"It’s fine, let’s just sleep. I’m going to turn off the light," Li Feier reached out and turned off the bedside lamp.

Then she covered herself with the comforter, lay down on the bed, and quietly stared at the ceiling.

She could have never dreamed that one day she would find herself in such a state, lying in bed with a man she hadn’t known for even half a week.

And to top it off, this man was not only a musical prodigy and a genius, but also the Guardian God of Great Xia!

Wasn’t it her fortune to be sharing a bed with such a man?

Li Feier’s mind was in turmoil at the moment, and she couldn’t quite make heads or tails of it.

If by chance Chen Wei really couldn’t hold back later and did something to her... should she refuse? Or tacitly agree?

If she were to refuse, what would her reason be?

Chen Wei perfectly matched the image of the dream lover Li Feier had in mind, and even surpassed it!
