Chapter 12: The Flood Dragon King Is Defeated

With a thunderous roar, the Roc Demon King suddenly burst out from the mountain, reappearing in full view. This Roc’s body was imposing, as if forged from dark iron, pitch-black like ink, seemingly born from the deepest depths of the Nine Nether Abyss.

His wings spread wide, blotting out the sky, the aura of a demon king sweeping across the land with overwhelming force. His eyes shone like lightning as he locked his gaze onto Qin Chuan, and roared.

“Damn it! I was careless just now—I failed to dodge!”

The Roc Demon King was deeply frustrated—who could have guessed that a mere Golden Immortal could wield such overwhelming strength?

Floating in midair, Qin Chuan looked at him with interest and said, “At the dawn of chaos, when Heaven and Earth first formed, all things were born from their union. The phoenix, infused with this primal energy, gave birth to both the peacock and the roc. But that was a Golden-Winged Roc. I never expected that this world would harbor a rare variant like you—a black roc—and one who has cultivated all the way to the Great Firmament Golden Immortal realm.”

This confirmed it: the Golden-Winged Roc who appears on the Journey to the West was not the Roc Demon King before him.

The Roc Demon King snorted coldly upon hearing this—he clearly understood who Qin Chuan was referring to.

“That one was born of the phoenix—not of the roc race. I have no interest in impersonating him.”

Qin Chuan didn’t press the issue. Throughout the Journey to the West, there were three beings who could truly make the Monkey King feel helpless:

  1. Zhenyuan Daxian of Wuzhuang Temple, an ancient sage from the primordial era—ancestor of all Earth Immortals.
  2. A Nine-Headed Lion named Jiuling Yuansheng, once the mount of the Eastern Pole Azure Emperor, one of the Six Royals of Heaven.
  3. And the Golden-Winged Roc, brother of the Peacock King and maternal uncle to the Buddha.

Qin Chuan speculated that both Jiuling Yuansheng and the Golden-Winged Roc had likely reached the Da Luo Golden Immortal realm.

Returning to the moment, Qin Chuan pointed his Ice Snow Dragon Cry Spear, radiating freezing energy, directly at the Roc Demon King:

“So? Do you still wish to fight?”

The Roc Demon King returned to his humanoid form—roc-headed with a human body, a pair of black wings behind him. He looked at Qin Chuan and said, “Human, you do have some skill. But if I go all out, I’m not necessarily afraid of you.”

Qin Chuan nodded. The Seven Demon Saints of the demon race were no slouches. He himself had yet to break through to Great Firmament Golden Immortal, and was still a full level beneath them.

The Roc Demon King continued, “Second Brother wants to kill you. Seventh Brother wants to protect you. If you were weak, we’d have captured you and decided what to do with you afterward.”

“But now things are more complicated. My brothers aren’t of one mind. I have no desire to fight to the death with you. Every debt has its source—go settle yours with Second Brother.”

The Roc Demon King waved to the others to stand down. The Bull Demon King, Lion Camel King, Macaque King, and Gibbon King had no objections.

The Monkey King cast a spell and arrived beside Qin Chuan. Seeing the Roc Demon King, he raised his staff to strike—but the Roc blocked with a black spear.

“Seventh Brother, our demon clan respects the strong. This human you protect has great skill. Let him clash with Second Brother.”

“Stop, Monkey!” Qin Chuan halted the agitated Monkey King and flew upward, eyes sweeping over the gathered demon kings.

He paused only a moment longer on the Bull Demon King and Macaque King—the former with a grand reputation, and the latter, like the Roc Demon King, had a somewhat controversial background.

Then he pointed his spear at the Flood Dragon King and asked, “Dare you face me one-on-one?”

The Ice Snow Dragon Cry Spear shone with a cold light. Earlier, the Roc Demon King had underestimated him—now was the perfect time to test his might against the Flood Dragon King.

The Flood Dragon King roared, “You think I fear you?!”

Having witnessed the Roc being slammed into a mountain, even he had grown cautious. One held the Ice Snow Dragon Cry Spear; the other, the Sea-Overturning Trident. They flew into the skies above Flower-Fruit Mountain, their magical powers clashing fiercely.

Qin Chuan’s eyes shone bright like clear autumn water beneath the moon. His movements were graceful as floating clouds and flowing streams. The spear in his hand transformed into a white dragon, coiling through the sky.

Each strike was as swift and elusive as snow in the wind. As the spear met the trident, the two fought with incredible speed and strength. The monkeys of Flower-Fruit Mountain beat their drums and cheered loudly.

“Great King Qin is mighty!”

Qin Chuan moved like a dragon, soaring with the wind. In midair, he shouted:

“Boundless Ice!”

In an instant, cold surged across the heavens, freezing the void itself. The space around the Flood Dragon King turned into a world of snow and frost.

Yet the Flood Dragon King remained calm. With a wave of his hands, the Sea-Overturning Trident turned into a vast ocean, waves crashing with fury. A surge of demonic energy erupted from it, seemingly capable of swallowing the sky.

With a thunderous roar, he shouted, “Turn the rivers and seas!”

At once, fierce winds howled and dark clouds churned. The ocean conjured by the trident surged into the heavens, dissolving all of Qin Chuan’s icy assault.

Qin Chuan showed no fear. Twisting through the sky, his spear techniques grew even fiercer. He roared:

“Heaven-Shattering Ice Break!”

Cold air as sharp as blades and swords slashed down toward the Flood Dragon King. The battle escalated—“Heaven-Shattering Strike!”

In an instant, the Sea-Overturning Trident transformed into countless phantom strikes, like a torrential rainstorm surging towards Qin Chuan.

The Ice Snow Dragon Cry Spear danced like a dragon, weaving through the sky, clashing with the barrage of trident shadows. Every collision echoed with a thunderous boom that shook the heavens and the earth.

Nearby, the Monkey King scratched his ears impatiently, gripping his Golden-Hooped Staff, eager to join the fray. But he was stopped again and again by the other five demon kings.

The Bull Demon King’s ox eyes gleamed as he observed the fierce battle. He muttered in a deep voice.

“In martial skill, Second Brother is slightly inferior; but in magical power, he holds the advantage. This battle… it’s hard to say who will win.”

The Flood Dragon King grew more and more alarmed as they fought. He thought, Why does this human fight as if he knows what move I’ll make next?

[In his battle with the Flood Dragon King, Qin Chuan comprehends the 20th Great Heaven-Defying Divine Ability — “Subjugate Dragon, Tame Tiger”].

This was a divine power of overwhelming might, a supreme technique of immense force.

Qin Chuan’s mana surged like a boundless river, unending and powerful. Wielding his spear, he struck forward with full force toward the Flood Dragon King.

With a single blow, the spear pierced the Flood Dragon King’s shoulder, and pain twisted across his face.

Suddenly, a deafening boom erupted—frost exploded outward. In an instant, the Flood Dragon King was engulfed in ice and snow, his entire form frozen into a towering ice sculpture.

Moments later, the sculpture shattered open, and the Flood Dragon King revealed his true form—a colossal flood dragon, with blood-red eyes glowing with rage.

His voice boomed like thunder:

“Human! Today is not the day. I shall settle this with you another time!”

Without waiting for a reply from Qin Chuan or bidding farewell to the other demon kings, the Flood Dragon King turned into a streak of light and shot off into the distance.

Thus, the feast of the day came to an end. The gathering dispersed in good spirits. The Bull Demon King, Roc Demon King, Lion Camel King, Macaque King, and Gibbon King all stepped forward to bid farewell. Qin Chuan and the Monkey King returned their farewells with courtesy.

The Monkey King asked, “Why didn’t you keep the Second Brother here?”

Qin Chuan shook his head, “Defeating him is easy. Killing him is not. I looked at him with my Heavenly Eye, and I’m sure—he carries some kind of mysterious treasure on him. A serious threat.”
