Chapter 11: Chaos in Battle
The celestial anomaly faded. From a cave on the southern side of Flower Fruit Mountain, Qin Chuan stepped out, frowning slightly.
“Ao Xue, why has the demonic aura around Flower Fruit Mountain become so dense?”
During his recent closed-door cultivation, his powers had broken through to the peak of the Golden Immortal realm. Now, he was preparing for the next step—advancing to the Taiyi Golden Immortal level.
That, however, was not something achievable through simple seclusion and training.
Ao Xue respectfully replied, “Master, while you were in seclusion, King Sun (the Monkey King) invited many friends to visit Flower Fruit Mountain. Among them are quite a few powerful demon immortals.”
Qin Chuan suddenly understood. Ever since his return from the Dragon Palace, he had been focused on cultivation and had completely forgotten about the Monkey King’s six mighty sworn brothers.
In the original tale, aside from the powerful Bull Demon King, the other five demon saints barely made appearances. But to form a sworn brotherhood with both the Bull Demon King and the Monkey King, they must all be formidable beings.
Speaking of which, the Bull Demon King didn’t end up too well. On the journey to the West, the Monkey King alone couldn’t subdue him. It took the combined forces of the Heavenly Kings and Guardian Vajras to capture him and send him westward.
The Monkey King didn’t act very honorably in that matter—but perhaps, at that point, he no longer had much control over his own choices.
The Buddhist sects were truly bold. After all, the Bull Demon King was backed by that person. They merely put him under house arrest—not execution—and weren’t even worried about future consequences?
As this crossed Qin Chuan’s mind, he suddenly thought of the many “mounts” of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas encountered on the journey west. He shook his head. The sect had already made plenty of enemies; offending one more, like the Bull Demon King, made no difference.
Just as he was about to head toward the Water Curtain Cave, he stopped in his tracks and looked skyward. A towering tidal wave surged toward the cave he had established. Standing atop the waves was a creature with the head of a flood dragon and the body of a man.
The demon wore a black obsidian iron helm, frost-scale black armor, and a belt made from the sinews of a giant beast. His eyes were like deep-sea whirlpools—dark, bottomless, and devouring all light.
His eyebrows were like undercurrents in the ocean, cold and unfeeling. His teeth were like reef stones—sharp and unyielding. He roared with fury:
“Human! Return the life of my grandson!”
“Flood Dragon King!”
Ao Xue’s expression changed dramatically, crying out in alarm.
“Master, be careful! This is a giant demon of the Northern Sea! A flood dragon who once suppressed the entire Northern Sea Dragon Palace single-handedly!”
Qin Chuan raised his hand, and the temperature of the entire cave plummeted to freezing. The Ice Dragon Roaring Spear appeared in his grasp.
At the sight of the Flood Dragon King, Qin Chuan instantly understood. So that black flood dragon causing havoc outside Linchuan City had been one of his descendants.
But even if he had known beforehand, he would’ve still killed him without hesitation. Today was the perfect opportunity to test the strength of this future Sea-Flipping Saint.
In the blink of an eye, the Flood Dragon King charged in, wielding his Sea-Flipping Halberd.
Qin Chuan moved to shield Ao Xue and was about to counter with his spear—when suddenly, the Ruyi Jingu Bang (Golden Cudgel) streaked in from the side and blocked the attack.
The halberd and cudgel clashed, unleashing sparks and shockwaves that made the earth tremble and the heavens roar.
The Monkey King leapt from the void, pointing his cudgel at the Flood Dragon King, shouting:
“Old Second! I’ve treated you with sincerity and invited you as my guest—how dare you act so wildly on my Flower Fruit Mountain?!”
The Flood Dragon King glared, fury in his eyes, his halberd shrouded in black mist, as if a yaksha had emerged from hell:
“Old Seventh! This villain killed my grandson and slaughtered my kin! His crimes are unforgivable! Step aside, and once I’ve taken his life, I’ll offer you an apology!”
His voice thundered with rage. The Monkey King frowned deeply, but stood firmly in front of Qin Chuan, refusing to yield.
He bellowed again:
“It was just a little mudfish. So what if it was killed? In your lair, you have wives and concubines by the dozen, and your snake and dragon descendants are everywhere! Today, while I’m here, you will not touch my sworn brother!”
The Flood Dragon King flew into a rage. “Am I not also your sworn brother?”
His killing intent surged as he swung the Sea-Flipping Halberd, summoning a wave of black seawater that crashed towards the Monkey King and Qin Chuan.
The Monkey King bared his teeth and let out a fierce laugh. His divine power burst forth as he raised the golden cudgel and smashed it down upon the incoming wave, roaring:
“Sworn brothers can never compare to one of blood!”
His voice shook the skies, and his aura pierced the clouds. The black wave shattered instantly under the force of the golden cudgel.
The Flood Dragon King twirled his halberd into a gleaming flower shape and pointed it at the Monkey King. His ferocity surged.
“If that’s how it is, then don’t blame me for forgetting our oath! I’ll finish you first, then kill him!”
The Monkey King, not backing down, roared in return.
“You damn fish—eat my cudgel!”
Thus, the Flood Dragon King wielded his halberd, and the Monkey King swung his cudgel. The clash of these two mighty warriors made heaven and earth change color.
The shadows of the halberd raged like a tempest, threatening to overturn the world. The cudgel struck like thunder and lightning, aiming to tear open the heavens.
It could be said:
Two kings clash, shaking the heavens, each displaying their divine might and transformations.
The Flood Dragon King stirs the rivers and seas with raging waves, while the Monkey King splits into countless shadows.
Wind and thunder quake the world, moves ever-changing in the void.
The wild dragon flips the seas and skies, the divine monkey swings his staff to shatter the firmament. At that moment, five streaks of light flew in from the distance.
The Bull Demon King, seeing the two brothers had truly entered into a heated battle, quickly stepped forward to mediate:
“Brothers, what matter cannot be settled with words? Do not let this harm the peace between us.”
But the Flood Dragon King and the Monkey King were locked in fierce combat and ignored him completely.
On the side, the Roc Demon King narrowed his sharp gaze toward Qin Chuan and said coldly.
“This human is the cause of all this trouble. Let me capture him first. You four, go and stop Second and Seventh Brother.”
The Lion Camel King, Monkey King of the Macaques, and Gibbon King all turned to look at the Bull Demon King. After all, he was nominally the eldest among them—he needed to make a decision.
The Bull Demon King hesitated for a moment, then nodded. However, he still cautioned the Roc Demon King.
“It seems that this human means a great deal to Old Seventh. Third Brother, capture him if you must, but under no circumstances may you harm him.”
The Roc Demon King nodded.
“I understand!”
With that, he unleashed his legendary Roc Speed, flying straight toward Qin Chuan.
Seeing this, the Bull Demon King pulled out his Iron Staff, and together with the Lion Camel King, moved to block the raging Flood Dragon King.
The Monkey King of the Macaques and the Gibbon King exchanged glances, then drew their weapons and stood in the Monkey King’s path.
The Monkey King, sharp-eyed, saw the Roc Demon King flying toward Qin Chuan. His face twisted in fury.
“Feathered bastard—how dare you!”
He had always assumed Qin Chuan was merely at the Golden Immortal level. While his escape arts were impressive, he had never seen him in a real fight. He immediately tried to rush to help.
But the two demon kings—Macaque and Gibbon—were no amateurs. They joined forces to stop him, and for the moment, he was unable to break free.
Boom—!
A loud explosion drew the attention of all the demon kings. Looking up, they saw black feathers falling from the sky, like a chaotic dance of night crows.
The Roc Demon King had already revealed his true form, a massive winged beast, and had been smashed into a mountain, causing the entire peak to collapse, rocks shattering and dust billowing everywhere.
Even the Flood Dragon King and Monkey King were left stunned, along with the rest of the demon lords—only the Bull Demon King cried out in shock.
“Third Brother!”
