Chapter 729: Chapter 552 The Hunter with His Own Agenda

"Master, why do we have to return to Qingcheng Mountain Village every ten years?"

A boy with two buns on his head asked out of curiosity.

The boy’s companion was a Daoist whose hair had already turned snow-white, and his beard nearly reached the ground.

"Oh, you are still young and probably unaware that over two hundred years ago, I left my hometown to learn the arts of a True One in the outside world, enduring untold hardships before finally mastering them. Having followed the Dao, it is natural to give back to the village."

The True Person of Qingcheng Mountain said with some emotion.

As the two walked along, their shadows slowly lengthening, his gaze turned towards the sky as if reflecting on something.

The difficult days appeared in the True Person of Qingcheng Mountain’s eyes, and the hardships he suffered were truly understood only by him. It was those pains that made him think of giving Qingcheng Mountain Village a chance.

After all, the saddest thing in the world isn’t the lack of talent to become an Exorcist, but possessing the talent and yet not being accepted by any sect.

The True Person of Qingcheng Mountain, relying on his own efforts, rose from being a Menial Worker step by step, ultimately forging his own path—a journey fraught with countless difficulties.

He naturally cared deeply for his village. The old friends were all gone, which filled him with melancholy—the mountains and rivers remained the same, but the people by his side had changed several times over.

This made the True Person of Qingcheng Mountain feel nostalgic, as if each return to Qingcheng Mountain Village caused him to reminisce about his bygone days.

The playmates of his childhood were now but a handful of yellow earth.

How could this not stir emotions in the True Person of Qingcheng Mountain, but with a Daoist Heart like his, such feelings were not enough to shake him.

When he felt he could no longer advance further, the True Person of Qingcheng Mountain decided to establish a sect, not for any other reason but to provide a chance for disciples with Exorcist talent who were not accepted elsewhere.

The boy by the True Person of Qingcheng Mountain’s side was his favorite disciple. Despite being female, she was naturally attuned to Moonlight, able to practice absorbing Moonlight into her body.

She possessed exceptional talent, and in this world, a good aptitude could allow a child to unconsciously accumulate a significant amount of Mana at an early age—a huge advantage.

It was such talent that led to the emergence of numerous Exorcists in the world. The True Person of Qingcheng Mountain believed that under his guidance, she would one day surpass him and reach the Peak.

Meanwhile, as the True Person of Qingcheng Mountain was still on the road, Wu Mo had already spotted the Big Python that was about to turn into a Demon—an entity not to be taken lightly.

Thus, upon sighting the Big Python, Wu Mo couldn’t help but regret his decision. The creature was at least thirty feet long, with a triangular head—likely venomous.

It is known that the more venomous a snake is, usually the smaller it is.

A serpent like this one was apparently only a step away from reaching the Realm of the evil spirits mentioned in legends.

"Hurry up, the evil spirit is right before us! Regardless of whether it is a Monster or not, as long as a sharp weapon pierces its body, it will bleed!"

Su Ding waved his left hand, motioning for the hunters behind him to advance, with Wu Mo naturally among them.

Wu Mo watched intently, his fear slightly abating.

Indeed, however you looked at it, the creature was just an evil spirit. Once a weapon pierced its body, even if the creature were a Demon, decapitation meant death.

The Big Python seemed unaware of the hunters’ ambush, solely focused on chasing a hare in front of it. But the hare was no match for the python, which, with a shake of its body in the underbrush, surged forward.

It bit the hare in its mouth, and Wu Mo inwardly gasped—as normally, snakes first wrap around their prey, suffocating it.

But this one killed directly, which didn’t align with his knowledge at all.

However, since it was a Monster, some differences were to be expected.

Without further thought, Su Ding threw his dagger at the Big Python, which heard the sound of it cutting through the air.

Turning its head, the python saw the dagger in mid-air. Letting go of its prey, the python tried to dodge. Although it was not a large dagger, the force behind it was considerable.

Meat-eaters are brave, and Su Ding, being one himself, ensured the power behind the throw was not small. However, the Big Python’s spiritual light flashed in its eyes as it deliberately avoided its vitals. The dagger plunged into its body, slicing open a wound from which blood flowed momentarily before the python’s muscles constricted, stopping the bleeding.

The strike did not cause a fatal injury to the Big Python but instead enraged it. Without hesitation, it immediately lunged at Su Ding.

"Su Ding!"

One of the hunters cried out, his machete aimed at the head of the Big Python. But the creature, now with awakened intelligence, dodged the blow with a swift turn.

The hunter cursed under his breath, realizing that he had now become the python’s target of vengeance. The python moved incredibly fast, but Su Ding was quick to react.

He threw a fishing net towards the hunter, and seeing this, the other hunters and Wu Mo seized their opportunity. A fishing net wasn’t a shield after all.

The net, being resilient, enveloped the hunter, and as the Big Python charged, it headed straight for him.

The hunter fell backward stiffly, and just as the Big Python was about to bite, Wu Mo and Su Ding pulled the net tight.
