Chapter 728: Chapter 551 Execution of the Python-turned-Spirit_2

As a hunter who had lived here for many years, Wu Mo naturally knew these circumstances like the back of his hand.

Wang Yang, since childhood, had never wandered more than a hundred meters from his little cabin.

"Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s go to bed. If we stay outside any longer, we’ll be feeding the mosquitoes!"

Wu Mo affectionately touched Wang Yang’s head, then stood up and carried the bamboo chair back inside the wooden hut.

Wang Yang was naturally very well-behaved, following Wu Mo into the house. The interior was simply furnished: a kang bed-stove, a wooden table, and a few bamboo chairs.

All were handcrafted by Wu Mo himself. Over the past seven years, he had learned much. At the very least, he had learned to cook well and take care of a child.

Wu Mo went to bed first, and normally Wang Yang would be by Wu Mo’s side because there was only one kang bed-stove and for his safety—after all, this was deep within the mountains.

Even if there were no monsters, one still had to fear the likes of jackals, wolves, tigers, and leopards. Therefore, Wu Mo always slept with Wang Yang by his side, protecting him steadfastly.

Wang Yang, however, found it difficult to fall asleep—not just because of what Wu Mo had said during the day, but also because his spirit was better than that of an average adult. He didn’t need much sleep—a mere two hours were enough.

It was probably because of the Power of a Saint within him. Wang Yang pondered about the world he had descended into: how long had it been eroded by darkness, or in what form had the darkness appeared?

He could only hope that it wasn’t like the Three Kingdoms world. In this world, the Demon Clan could exert greater strength, even with the presence of Exorcists.

Exorcists were called such because they exorcised Demons and Ghosts. If it came to the Demon Clan from within the darkness, they would probably still find themselves lacking.

These were all Wang Yang’s speculations. He needed to meet an Exorcist to verify his thoughts. At the least, this world hadn’t been completely eroded by darkness and hadn’t even detected it.

Without any abnormalities surfacing, Wang Yang currently had no lead on how to progress. Each encounter with darkness was a life-or-death challenge, and he would have been at a disadvantage against the Demon, Yan Xiang, if he hadn’t merged with the world’s origin.

After becoming familiar with this world, he found that it was even more complex than he had imagined.

Wang Yang also sensed something extraordinary about Wu Mo, like the hidden compartment within the wall at home, containing a jade pendant and a piece of silk, which made him faintly aware of something.

Eventually, when Wang Yang could recognize some of the characters of this world’s language with the guidance of Wu Mo, he identified the two characters on the jade pendant—his own name, which puzzled him greatly.

Additionally, considering the background of this world, which seemed similar to an ancient feudal society, he didn’t share the same surname as Wu Mo in such circumstances.

This made the inquiry into his birth all the more interesting. Wang Yang wasn’t oblivious to this, but it was insignificant compared to the darkness.

Moreover, his existence was already peculiar; it was normal for his origins to be special too.

Lying there, Wang Yang saw a sliver of moonlight shining on him. It seemed as though strands of the Power of a Saint within the moonlight were being absorbed by his body.

The Power of a Saint within Wang Yang passed through his flesh, permeating into his body, circulating through his Dantian before settling silently within it.

After feeling this sensation, Wang Yang couldn’t help but sigh. For some reason, even though the Power of a Saint within him was increasing, it hid within his Dantian like still water.

In this way, Wang Yang closed his eyes to rest his spirit, lying quietly by Wu Mo’s side.

Wang Yang’s body moved minimally, careful not to disturb Wu Mo, who was a sound sleeper, lying on his side and snoring thunderously.

If Wang Yang were any ordinary child, he would have been intolerant of it by now. And so, the night passed.

The outside world was as quiet as ever, dark outside the window.

Wang Yang saw nothing but darkness, unable to discern anything.

"Hey, Old Wu, there’s a huge python up the mountain. They say it’s about to turn into a demon. Why don’t we take advantage of today and eliminate that evil spirit before it gets too cunning!"

A man dressed as a hunter, with a longbow on his back and a rough dagger at his waist, named Su Ding, called out to Wu Mo as he approached the vicinity.

Wu Mo was plucking a wild chicken at the time and just smiled without agreeing to join. He was generally cautious by nature. Other hunters would bring back a few small deer or similar game.

But Wu Mo’s catch, like the wild chickens, was nothing compared to the larger game. They were hardly worth mentioning.

Yet, even in these circumstances, Wu Mo remained cautious because Wang Yang was alone at home, and Wu Mo knew that without him, Wang Yang’s future would be difficult.

"Old Wu, you say your archery skills are all passable, but it’s just this timidness that sets you back. If only you were like Zhang Qiang from the neighboring village, it wouldn’t have to be this way,"

The Zhang Qiang mentioned by Su Ding was known to be very bold; it was said that he would dare to probe even into a dragon’s den and a tiger’s lair. Compared to such a character, Wu Mo naturally fell short.

"That can’t be. That python is two zhang long and as thick around as a bowl, even a brush could leave a wound, which would undoubtedly require a few months’ bedrest at home."

Of course, Wu Mo knew the weight of that great python; he had no desire to provoke such spirits and monsters, as they were all capable of transforming into demons.

If he didn’t kill it this time, and it came back for revenge later, how could ordinary villagers withstand it?

This issue was naturally within the scope of Wu Mo’s considerations.

Apart from exorcists, no one can kill a demon. This was universally acknowledged, because these monsters were not like ordinary wild chickens and hares, not every hunter could kill them.

"How can this be good? You must know that after some time, the True Person of Qingcheng Mountain will come to our village to take on disciples!"

"By that time, since you have a son, if you could offer the inner gall of that great python, he might directly be taken in,"

Su Ding said.

And at the mention of Wang Yang, Wu Mo’s hands hesitated in their action as both men sat in the bustling marketplace within Qingcheng Mountain Village.

This scene made Wu Mo suddenly understand something. He was aware of Wang Yang’s extraordinariness, and he also understood that Wang Yang would certainly not stay in the village like him forever.

At the very least, Wang Yang’s future accomplishments would surely be something he could only look up to.

Understanding this, Wu Mo, reluctant as he was, knew that he couldn’t keep the child by his side forever.

"There’s only one inner gall. If I take it, what will your child use?"

Wu Mo bit his lip, seemingly ready to agree if what Su Ding said made sense, and if he indeed offered the inner gall, Wu Mo would accept.

Becoming an exorcist was every villager’s desire, and Wu Mo didn’t want Wang Yang to miss out on his own life because of him and grow old living in the village.

Moreover, Wu Mo could sense that Wang Yang was extremely interested in ghosts and evil spirits, and he would most likely become an exorcist in the future.

If he could follow the True Person of Qingcheng Mountain, that would be the best outcome.

"So, Old Wu, you agree, that’s great, with your archery skills, this is more than half settled!"

Su Jian slapped his thigh, as if Wu Mo had already agreed.

Wu Mo was indeed tempted.

"Old Wu, listen, I’m looking for people to kill that giant python now, and the inner gall will definitely be yours..."

Su Jian rambled on as if the decision was already made. If Wang Yang were here, he would probably be disdainful of Su Jian.

Such a person probably only dreamed big. The effort he put forth was nothing more than canvassing around, and on top of that, he could get the game and snake meat for free.

Although this could secure more benefits, Wang Yang considered it beneath him.

While Wu Mo might be straightforward, he was also someone who had his share of experience in the city and understood the twists and turns involved, yet he didn’t delve deeper.

Because as long as he could get that inner gall, it was practically a done deal for Wang Yang with his unique talents to be admitted into the Qingcheng Mountain Sect.

And so the matter was settled.

Without objections, Wu Mo naturally agreed.

He then quickly processed the wild chicken in his hand, traded it for some bushels of rice, and carried it up the mountain.

When Su Ding, having arranged for hunter companions, came looking for Wu Mo the next day, under the anxious gaze of Wang Yang, Wu Mo didn’t look back.

However, for some reason, there was a persistent feeling that Wu Mo was going to leave him.
