"What are your plans?"

The celestial Sect Leader looked at Wang Yang.

Wang Yang shook his head, he had never intended to establish any connection with the Heavenly Demon’s calamity.

However, according to the system, if he could change, there were also benefits to be had.

"It doesn’t matter, this has nothing to do with you. Since that’s the case, Fellow Daoist, please feel free to proceed, I will take my leave first!"

The figure of the celestial Sect Leader flashed as he headed towards the Thirty-Three Heavens.

Wang Yang watched the celestial Sect Leader leave.

Wang Yang had initially wanted to go to Mount Huaguo, but after some thought, he decided to head to Great Tang instead.

Like an ordinary person, he blended into the crowd, listening to Xuanzang preaching above.

The aquatic and land grand gathering lasted for a total of seventy-seven days, but ultimately, mere mortals were in attendance, and they dispersed on their own come evening.

Tang Sanzang, along with a few disciples after the first day,

resided outside the Imperial Palace and later settled down in the Great Ci’en Temple.

Wang Yang walked in, looking at Xuanzang meditating in the main hall at Panxi.

Xuanzang seemed to sense something as he opened his eyes and looked towards Wang Yang.

At this time, he had long recalled various past lifetimes and had also recalled Wang Yang’s few questions. If not for Wang Yang, he wouldn’t have easily understood the false practices within Buddhism that treated living beings as mere ants.

Everything was merely a plot they crafted to flourish Buddhism.

"Sir, we meet again!"

Xuanzang rose to his feet, bringing his hands together in greeting, and smiled as he spoke.

"Brother!"

Sun Wukong also stood up and looked towards Wang Yang.

Zhu Bajie looked at Wang Yang with surprise, not expecting Brother Monkey to have a senior brother.

At this moment, Sha Wujing’s face was filled with gloom, his head shrouded in the corner.

He had thought that after completing the task of seeking scriptures, he could return to the celestial Court, but unbeknownst to him, the Jade Emperor denied it, outright refusing to let him return.

Wang Yang nodded slightly.

Then Xuanzang invited Wang Yang inside.

The two talked about the past, with Xuanzang expressing gratitude to Wang Yang for helping him see everything clearly.

"Today, you return from seeking the scriptures, and the Buddhist law has essentially formed its own sect. In the future, you may establish a new sect in Southern Continent Jambudvipa, leading people towards Buddhism, liberating the hungry ghosts from this world; by then, there will be merit for you."

Wang Yang thought for a moment before saying to Xuanzang.

Xuanzang’s original wish was indeed to let sentient beings see a true form of Buddhism.

This proposal naturally tempted Xuanzang as well.

Wang Yang suggested this because he didn’t want Xuanzang to be involved in the Heavenly Demon’s calamity.

"Sun Wukong once said to this poor monk that from prosperity to decline is the major calamity of the Three Realms, and with Buddhism now flourishing, it is also the moment of their decline."

"And in such a calamity, no one can survive in isolation!"

Xuanzang gave a faint smile, he was not naive; he knew Wang Yang wished to fulfill his heartfelt desires, and that the great calamity of the Three Realms was why he didn’t want him to be involved.

However, such matters weren’t simply avoided if he didn’t wish to be involved.

"So be it, everything is predestined."

Wang Yang thought no more, for when the great calamity of the Three Realms came, he would have his own ways to deal with it.

"Master, are you going to establish a religion?"

Zhu Bajie, eavesdropping on the side, couldn’t help but ask after hearing Wang Yang’s words.

Xuanzang nodded. His own Buddhist teachings were unique, not belonging to Mahayana nor conforming to Hinayana, thus,

he would now preach in Southern Continent Jambudvipa and establish his own Buddhist sect.

During the aquatic and land gathering, the scriptures Xuanzang explained were not only those retrieved from the Mount Ling of the Western Paradise, but many were also his own insights.

He also requested the King of Tang to build a temple for him, a temple named after the Buddha, venerating only a single Buddha statue, which was Xuanzang himself.

"Those who seek and believe in Buddhism, having Buddha in their hearts, should all attain Buddhahood and work towards dissolving their past actions and accumulating merit; if human hearts turn to goodness, any place can venerate the Buddha and even attain Buddhahood!"

"All beings are born from the mind, and those with unchanging good thoughts will meet the true Buddha."

"Only those who are not evil can eternally ascend to Ultimate Bliss."

During the seventy-seven days of the aquatic and land gathering, every day, people traveled to Chang’an; by the end, the entire city was filled with believers, all standing or sitting, listening to Mage Xuanzang preaching.

The King of Tang issued a decree, opening the national treasury, ensuring that those who came to listen to the scriptures wouldn’t have to sleep on the streets or go unaware of hunger.

Xuanzang also used his mana to send his words far and wide.

"Xuanzang, after the aquatic and land gathering, you may establish a religion in Southern Continent Jambudvipa and preach the Buddhist teachings; surely no one will stop you."

Wang Yang beamed, looking at Xuanzang returning to write the scriptures.

"Haha, if the master establishes a religion, then aren’t we the first generation of disciples?"

Zhu Bajie was quick to speak, restless thoughts flowing out without contemplation.

With Xuanzang establishing New Buddhism, they, as disciples of Xuanzang, would also be venerated by believers.

As for the Altar Cleanser bestowed by the Western Paradise, Zhu Bajie, who was once Marshal Tianpeng, really looked down on it.

"Master, does our establishment of religion have a name?"

Sun Wukong also harbored anticipation. Although there were only a few of them, the force of destiny encompassed in establishing the religion was not the same.

"It remains Buddhism, as for us..."

Xuanzang was momentarily at a loss for words, not having settled on a name for their own Buddhism.

Xuanzang, since it is still Buddhism, being called Sandalwood Merit Buddha is not inadmissible. One Buddha and three Dharmas can coexist in the world," Wang Yang enlightened Xuanzang. Since it was all Buddhism, there was no need to fuss over the title.

However, Zhu Bajie was somewhat unhappy, as he was still dreaming of being honored as a Buddha Ancestor.

Subsequently, Wang Yang stayed in Chang’an until the end of the Water and Land Assembly.

Xuanzang submitted a decree to the King of Tang, bringing the entire journey to the West to a satisfying conclusion.

...

"May everyone possess a Buddha Mind, may all Buddhas have human nature!"

"May there be no suffering in the world, may all evils dissipate!"

"Join our Buddhism, achieve Ultimate Bliss, witness the suffering of the world, and let the Buddha Mind persist forever!"

In the newly built temple, Xuanzang, looking at the monks below, sat cross-legged.

Today was the day he established the religion.

"We disciples wish to take refuge in Buddhism!"

The monks below spoke in unison.

When they had first arrived and saw only Xuanzang’s Buddha statue in the great hall, they were a bit surprised.

But after listening to Xuanzang expound on the Buddhist Law and set forth four vows for a while, each of them harbored the intention of conversion.

This included venerable monks from famous temples in Chang’an as well as itinerant monks who had traveled a thousand miles, but only now did they understand what Buddha is and what it means to cultivate Buddhahood.

Xuanzang nodded in satisfaction. These people would be the first followers of his Buddhism.

"In the coming seven days, the Venerable One will expound on the Buddhist Law here. Anyone wishing to convert to our Buddhism may attend the lectures!"

Having said this, Xuanzang took out a scripture he had written during this period and started to preach, with all the monks listening solemnly and attentively.

"Quick, they say the Holy Monk is recruiting disciples at the East City Buddhist Temple. Let’s hurry over!"

"Mother, thy child wishes to take refuge in Buddhism and become a disciple of the Holy Monk. I hope you will allow it!"

"I feel I am truly a Buddha’s Disciple, and I must become a disciple of the Holy Monk."

...

Suddenly, the entire city of Chang’an was swept up in a wave of tonsure enthusiasm. The temple, initially built large enough, now seemed somewhat insufficient. The King of Tang issued a decree to expand its surrounding area.

Helpless, the forty-nine days of the Water and Land Assembly undoubtedly pushed Xuanzang’s prestige among the monks to the pinnacle, coupled with the fact that he had met the Tathagata and received a title in Buddhism, naturally aroused the aspiration of common people.

"People are ignorant, they need this teaching," Wang Yang commented, watching the converging force of destiny and telekinesis gradually forming above the temple.

"Brother, if our master establishes a religion, I fear that Buddhism might not agree," said Sun Wukong, somewhat worried.

Wang Yang smiled faintly and replied, "Don’t worry. Some people might disagree, but there are others who truly support it!"

Sun Wukong, hearing this, scratched his head, puzzled.

Meanwhile, the force of destiny above Chang’an City’s Buddhist temple caught the attention of All Saints.

After all, since the Primordial Continent, Nuwa had received the Heavenly Dao’s decree to create the Human Race, and the force of destiny had been harnessed by the saints.

Now that Xuanzang had established Buddhism gathering fate, naturally others felt that their religion’s destiny was being diminished.

In the Western Mount Meru, the fate of Buddhism did not decrease, but rather increased.

But Zhun Ti and Jieyin were far from happy.

"How dare Xuanzang independently establish Buddhism! Truly against the heavenly laws, against the heavenly laws!" Ananda complained, unable to release the frustration building within him.

"Is the World-honored One in seclusion, and neither the Ancient Buddha Ran Deng nor the Future Buddha managing this matter?" Kasyapa and Ananda stood aside, naturally arrogant as close saints of the Ancestor Buddha Tathagata, and now they were genuinely enraged.

And their words also resonated with the Buddhas in the grand hall, as after all, Xuanzang had obtained their scriptures from Mount Ling, yet he had established his own religion in the Great Tang.

Originally, Mount Ling had distinctions between Mahayana and Hinayana Dharma. Now, with one religion and three Dharmas, especially one established by someone who had endured hardships to seek scriptures, it caused discontent among the Buddhas.

"We need not discuss this matter further!"

Zhunti and Jieyin, along with Ancient Buddha Ran Deng and Guanyin Bodhisattva emerged in the grand hall.

"Greetings to Amitabha Buddha, greetings to Mother Buddha Zhunti!"

All the Buddhas in the hall stood up to greet them.

"Xuanzang’s establishment of a religion has its own cosmic will, aligned with the heavens and must not be resisted," they declared.

Upon hearing this, the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas all were momentarily startled.
