Chapter 450: Chapter 416 Fake Princess and Zhu Bajie_2

Sun Wukong smiled and said, "Master, now that you’ve taken on Bajie’s appearance, with such a large frame, yet eating so little at each meal, anyone with a discerning eye would immediately spot the flaw. If our ruse gets exposed, wouldn’t our plan be completely ruined?"

Upon hearing this, Xuanzang also felt somewhat helpless.

"It’s all that damn Bajie’s fault, causing so much suffering for this poor monk!"

At that moment, Sand Monk approached Sun Wukong and said with a smile, "Big Brother, the Posthouse Manager must have been acting on the Princess’s orders, coming to probe for information."

Sun Wukong smiled and responded, "How could I not see through that? That’s why I had him prepare so much food."

"Don’t just stand there dawdling. Hurry out and purchase supplies, and remember, be selective when buying. We’re not in a rush. Take your time," he instructed.

Laughing, Sand Monk agreed, "Alright! Got it."

After that, Sand Monk went out to buy items, obediently purchasing items from the eastern market, then the western, the northern, and the southern.

He practically toured the entire Tianzhu Royal City, and it wasn’t until evening that he returned high-spirited, with his arms full of large and small packages.

Seeing that it was getting late and these people showed no signs of leaving, the Posthouse Manager hurriedly informed the people sent by the Princess, and that person immediately returned to the palace to report this to the Fake Princess.

This Fake Princess couldn’t help but worry and promptly ordered her people to continue monitoring Sun Wukong and the others.

However, by the next morning, she received news that Sun Wukong and company had already left the Posthouse and headed out of the west gate. Only after getting this information did the Fake Princess finally feel at ease.

Indeed, Xuanzang, Sun Wukong and Sand Monk had left the Posthouse the next day, and after walking a few dozen li out of the west gate, it was already midday. The group arrived at a village and found a place to rest temporarily, waiting until the evening.

Suddenly, Sun Wukong stood up and said, "According to the time, Bajie should be entering the bridal chamber by now. Sand Monk, you stay here to protect Master. As for me, Old Sun, I’ll head back now and take this opportunity to subdue the monster."

"Go ahead with confidence, Big Brother. Just be careful that Second Senior Brother doesn’t get angry with you for ruining his big moment," Sand Monk replied.

...

Today was the Princess’s grand wedding day, and the Tianzhu Country’s Royal City was decked out in festivity, with the whole city celebrating.

Such a grand royal wedding was naturally not like those of commoners, and the lively scene needed no further description.

The wedding was both lively and complicated, with all sorts of traditions and etiquettes to follow.

On this happy occasion, Zhu Bajie, however, was vexed to no end by all these tedious traditions and formalities.

Nevertheless, the Imperial Family cared about face, and these traditions and etiquettes were essential, and even more intricate than those of common folk.

Zhu Bajie, now the Prince Consort, couldn’t just do whatever he pleased, and had to endure, meticulously following each one. After being busy all day, he was completely exhausted.

But at last, the evening came, and it was finally time to enter the bridal chamber. Zhu Bajie thought he could finally find relief.

Having drunk to a slight buzz, an exhilarated Zhu Bajie burst into the bridal room, only to be shocked upon entry: it wasn’t just the bride inside, but also a group of maids and chaperones.

It turned out there were many rules to entering the bridal chamber, like how to lift the bride’s veil, all with strict procedures to adhere to systematically.

Zhu Bajie couldn’t help but complain, "Isn’t it just getting married and taking a wife? Why all these irritating formalities?"

Annoyed, he sat down and gulped down a cup of tea from the table.

The Princess, upon hearing Zhu Bajie’s words, thought that the auspicious hour was almost upon them. Wasting any more time might cause her to miss the best moment for absorbing the Yang Essence. With this in mind, the Princess said, "Since the Prince Consort dislikes these cumbersome rites, let’s dispense with them. You all may leave now."

"Your Highness, these are age-old traditions. Breaking them would be inauspicious," a Court Lady nearby reminded her.

The Princess responded, "It’s alright. The Prince Consort and I are a match made in heaven, blessed by the gods. Even without all this pomp, we will have great fortune. Everyone, please leave."

Hearing this, an impatient Zhu Bajie jumped up and shouted, "Did you not hear? The Princess herself said we can forego it. Stop your chatter and get out! If you annoy Her Highness, can you women bear the consequences?"

Zhu Bajie had transformed to look like Tang Monk, but his behavior bore no resemblance to that of a venerable high monk.

The people could do nothing but obediently withdraw.

Zhu Bajie, like shooing flies, hurried them all out and then locked the door behind them. Turning to look at the Princess seated on the bed, he let out a sly chuckle, straightened his clothes, bowed slightly, and said, "My lady, I pay my respects."

Zhu Bajie looked around, hoping to catch sight of Sun Wukong and the others.

But to his dismay, he didn’t see Sun Wukong at all.

"Pilgrim wouldn’t really have left Old Pig behind and run away, would he?" he grumbled to himself.

As Zhu Bajie muttered, the Princess seemed to notice that Zhu Bajie had yet to come over and impatiently said, "Why hasn’t the Prince Consort come to lift my veil?"

"Right away, Old Pig is coming now!" Zhu Bajie replied.

Upon hearing this, the Princess’s brows furrowed as she asked, "What did the Prince Consort just say?"

Zhu Bajie’s face changed slightly, realizing he had misspoken.
