Chapter 406: Chapter 394 Unfortunately, You’re Seeking Death_2
Sun Wukong chuckled and said, "That blockhead, having played the thief himself, insists on dragging everyone else into it. Old Sun has been right here guarding Master the whole time, not stepping away in the slightest. When did I ever help you subdue demons?"
Xuanzang nodded and added, "Wukong has indeed been here all along, never leaving."
Zhu Bajie wasn’t stupid and hastily said, "Master doesn’t know, but this monkey can use the Clone Technique."
Xuanzang, no longer paying attention to the blockhead, turned to Sun Wukong and asked, "Wukong, are there really monsters in these mountains?"
"There are a couple of monsters, but these creatures don’t have much skill. Master, rest assured, they wouldn’t dare to provoke us. Just focus on our journey with ease; should any monster be so blind as to court death, it would be a fine chance for Old Sun to eliminate the threat,"
Sun Wukong said nonchalantly.
Upon hearing this, Xuanzang also nodded.
At this point, Sun Wukong called Zhu Bajie over, smiling as he said, "While we still have daylight, let’s make haste and try to get over this mountain before darkness falls."
"Bajie, since you have fought with that demon, you shall take the lead and clear the path ahead."
"If that monster doesn’t show up, then so be it; but if the demon dares to appear, just casually take it out, and that will count as a merit for you."
Zhu Bajie had previously clashed with the demon, and guessed that the creature’s skills were mediocre, so he happily agreed, "Brother Monkey, rest assured, even if it costs old Zhu’s life, I will surely protect Master and ensure his safe passage."
Zhu Bajie was all talk but hardly one to risk his life. Should the demon prove formidable, the fool would run faster than anyone.
Satisfied, Sun Wukong nodded and declared, "If that’s the case, then let’s hurry on our way!"
So, they helped Xuanzang onto the horse, and the party continued along the mountain path.
Zhu Bajie led the way, and the group went on their trek to the West.
After a while, a monster suddenly leaped out from the side of the road; it was none other than the self-proclaimed South Mountain King, the Argyi Flower Leopard Demon, wielding an iron rod without a word, striking towards Zhu Bajie.
Zhu Bajie roared furiously, "What audacity you have, monster, to actually appear! Take this rake from old Zhu!"
As he spoke, he swung his rake to meet the attack.
Unexpectedly, upon seeing Zhu Bajie’s ferocity, the demon dared not engage and turned to flee.
Zhu Bajie, with his morale boosted, bellowed, "Don’t think you can escape, demon!"
With that, he grabbed his rake and gave chase.
Xuanzang saw from a distance that Zhu Bajie was pursuing the demon and couldn’t help but worry. He said to Sun Wukong, "Wukong, Bajie alone might not be able to subdue that demon. If he falls for the demon’s tricks and gets captured, that would be dreadful. Why don’t you go and give him a hand?"
Sun Wukong laughed and responded, "Master always shows favoritism. Whenever Old Sun vanquishes demons and monsters, I’ve never seen Master so worried."
Xuanzang smiled and replied, "That’s because I know you have great abilities and boundless mana, so you won’t be in danger."
Sun Wukong chuckled, "When did Master become such a smooth talker? Rest assured, Master, that demon is no match for Bajie; he will be fine."
As they spoke, suddenly from a nearby thicket, another demon burst out.
This demon was none other than the Argyi Flower Leopard Demon, flourishing an iron rod and charging forth. Sun Wukong couldn’t help frowning and said, "That blockhead Bajie has his eyes tricked; he let this demon sneak by. Let Old Sun go and slay him."
When the demon saw Sun Wukong approaching, it didn’t dare to fight and instead slipped into the woods, fleeing along a small path. Annoyed and ashamed, Sun Wukong quickly followed, and in a moment, both had vanished into the forest.
And at that moment, another demon appeared, making a beeline for Xuanzang. Sand Monk shouted, "How did this demon jump out from here? What’s with my elder brothers today, letting their guard down and letting the demon slip through?"
While saying this, Sand Monk also swung up his Demon-Subduing Pestle to meet the challenge. But the demon didn’t dare to fight and instead dove into the woods, escaping in another direction.
At this, Xuanzang couldn’t help but frown with concern, "Who would have thought this demon could be so cunning to trick Bajie and Wukong one after another."
"Not just them, I’m afraid even Junior Brother Sand has been deceived now," said a voice suddenly, belonging to Sun Wukong.
Xuanzang started at the sound, realizing that the one who had dashed off earlier might have been Sun Wukong’s clone.
"Wukong, what do you mean by that?"
Xuanzang asked with some surprise.
Sun Wukong said with a smile, "Master, just look over there and you will know!"
Xuanzang looked in the direction indicated, but there was no one around; however, at that moment, there was some rustling in the bushes.
Xuanzang hurriedly looked over.
He saw another monster emerging from the bushes, identical to the previous three, wielding an iron rod and loudly charging over.
When Xuanzang witnessed this scene, his expression remained unchanged, and Buddhist chanting could be heard from his mouth, spreading in all directions.
A force of Universal Salvation radiated outward.
The monster had not yet drawn close when it was enveloped by this force, showing a look of regret on its face.
Seeing the monster’s expression of regret, Xuanzang breathed a sigh of relief, just as a surge of Monster Energy shot from the sky towards him.
Although Xuanzang could bestow Universal Salvation on demons and monsters, he was after all not yet able to recover the full realm of his previous lives, and this Monster Energy was inherently powerful, not something ordinary people could withstand.
As the Monster Energy pressed down, it directly suppressed Xuanzang’s power within his body.
While Xuanzang’s power was suppressed, the monster that was being redeemed reverted to its original form, revealing it was not the Demon King but a little demon.
It turned out that the previous four monsters were actually all little demons in disguise. The real Argyi Flower Leopard Demon had been hiding in mid-air all along, concealed among the clouds, watching as Zhu Bajie, Sun Wukong, and Sand Monk were lured away one after another. Then, using its powerful Monster Energy unexpectedly, it indeed managed to suppress Xuanzang.
Thinking its plan had succeeded, the monster revealed its Divine Skills, stretching a hand from mid-air towards Xuanzang to grasp him.
The monster caught Xuanzang and yanked him into the air.
Xuanzang’s face changed color, although he had already encountered many monsters, being captured by one again prevented him from remaining calm.
It was at this moment that a voice sounded.
"Good monster, you’ve finally shown your true form!"
Sun Wukong appeared on the side, transformed, and leaped up, charging directly at the monster.
The monster, caught off guard, had its great hand directly smashed by the Jingu Bang.
In an instant, the hand was split open, skin torn, flesh burst, with blood spilling from it.
A rain of blood fell from the sky in an instant.
"Ah!"
The monster couldn’t help but let out a wail of pain, hurriedly releasing Xuanzang.
It quickly retracted its hand, which was now mangled and broken, profusely bleeding; the pain caused the Leopard Demon to grimace and bare its teeth.
As the monster let go, Xuanzang also fell from mid-air.
Sun Wukong came to a stop, waved his hand, and a bank of Auspicious Clouds spontaneously appeared, catching the falling Tang Monk and gently lowering Xuanzang to the ground.
Seeing Sun Wukong, the monster’s complexion changed dramatically in fear.
"Sun Wukong, how could you be here? Aren’t you supposed to..."
"Aren’t I supposed to be chasing after your little demons? You have the Art of Transformation, but does Old Sun not have his own techniques?"
Sun Wukong chuckled with a ’heh heh’.
Knowing it was no match for Sun Wukong, and now injured, the monster dared not engage in battle, turning into a cloud of black smoke, it swiftly fled towards the mountains.
"Hmph! Think you can escape? Can you really?"
Sun Wukong snorted coldly, instantly turned into a beam of light, and swiftly gave chase.
In the blink of an eye, Sun Wukong caught up with the cloud of black smoke, piercing through it and a piercing scream resounded from within the smoke, followed by the sight of something plummeting from the sky and crashing to the ground, turning into a mass of flesh. However, it was faintly discernible as a leopard.
Sun Wukong looked down at the corpse below, shook his head, and said, "I wanted to let Xuanzang offer you salvation, but alas, you did not seize the chance and instead sought your own demise."
