Chapter 403: Chapter 393: I, Old Pig, Am Indeed a Pig
The sky was still dark, and everyone in the Imperial Palace was still asleep.
After leaving the cupboard, Sun Wukong plucked a strand of Monkey Fur, blew on it, and instantly, it turned into countless little sleeping bugs.
In the blink of an eye, these little sleeping bugs scattered in all directions, crawling into the noses of everyone in the Imperial Palace, plunging them into deep sleep.
Then, Sun Wukong transformed himself into countless Sun Wukongs.
These Sun Wukongs spread out, found every corner of the palace, and began to shave the heads of those who were fast asleep.
Want to kill monks, huh?
If everyone is a monk, let’s see if this Emperor will kill his own.
After confirming that even the concubines in the Inner Palace had their heads shaved, Sun Wukong retracted his fur.
He then made his way to the General Military Mansion and returned there in just a moment.
Once again, he slipped through the gap in the cupboard and back inside it.
"Big Brother is back, why didn’t you rescue us?"
Sand Monk asked, a bit puzzled.
He had thought that Sun Wukong had gone out to rescue them, but apparently, that wasn’t the case.
"Yeah, Brother Monkey, you were gone for so long, why didn’t you rescue us? You just came back instead!"
Zhu Bajie also couldn’t help but complain.
If he didn’t want to upset Sun Wukong, he might have started spouting nonsense again.
"Hehe, just wait and see!"
Although Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk didn’t know what Sun Wukong was up to, they could only wait.
The next day, it was not until noon that the people in the Imperial Palace gradually awoke.
However, as the palace maids and eunuchs got out of bed and washed up, they all screamed upon seeing themselves in the mirror.
And, looking at each other, after exchanging a glance, they screamed even louder, more intensely shocked.
Such sounds inadvertently rose from all over the Imperial Palace.
Meanwhile, the Empress got up as usual, but when she saw herself in the mirror, she couldn’t help but scream frantically, seeing that there was not a single hair left on her head.
Panicked, she called her servants to smash the mirror.
She rushed to call the King, only to find out that the King also had a shaved head.
The King, upon realizing he had become bald, was also thrown into a panic.
For so many years of killing monks, he never expected that he himself would become a monk one day!
Still, as the King, he soon calmed down.
He ordered everyone in the palace to keep the fact that they had all become bald a secret, with the threat of death for those who disobeyed.
During court, the civil and military officials each in turn presented to the King the matter of their heads being shaved at night.
With tears in their eyes, they said, "From now on, we will no longer dare to kill monks, please forgive us!"
The King, seeing this situation, furrowed his brows, uncertain of what had happened, becoming somewhat irate and feeling a bit strange.
At that moment, the Patrol General rushed into the palace to report to the Emperor about the previous night’s arrest of thieves and the seizure of a cupboard.
The King immediately ordered the cupboard to be brought in front of Wufeng Tower and exclaimed, "Open the cupboard and let’s see what’s inside!"
As the lid of the cupboard was opened, Zhu Bajie couldn’t help but be the first to jump out. Seeing the Patrol General holding the White Horse, he shouted, "That’s my horse, give it back to me!"
Xuanzang, Sun Wukong, and Sand Monk then slowly made their way out of the cupboard.
The King was startled to see four monks and, connecting it with his years of killing so many monks, realized that he was probably suffering retribution.
Otherwise, neither he nor his civil and military officials would have all been shaved bald.
He quickly left his throne to greet them and inquired about their origins.
After Xuanzang explained everything, he also recounted their experience in the cupboard to the King.
"We heard that the King wanted to kill monks, which is why we did this, but may I ask why the King does such things?"
Xuanzang pressed his palms together and chanted a Buddha’s name.
Hearing this, the King dared not neglect to reply, "Once, a monk slandered me, and since then, I have sworn to kill ten thousand monks."
"I never imagined that last night I would become a monk myself, turning all of my civil and military officials into monks as well, presumably as retribution!"
"I sincerely apologize to you! Please, Elder, take me as your disciple!"
Hearing the King’s words, Sun Wukong and the others exchanged glances.
Sun Wukong, with a smile brightening his face, said, "Haha! We appreciate your sentiment! But we can’t take you as a disciple, you should just continue to be the Emperor honestly! Just change our official document, send us out of the city, and we guarantee your country will prosper!"
Overjoyed, the King arranged a grand banquet and asked Xuanzang to give his country a new name. Xuanzang then changed "Annihilation Country" to "Luanfa Country."
After Zhu Bajie had his fill once more, they all bid farewell to the King and set out from his country.
The group continued their Journey to the West, on the road once again.
One day, as they traveled, joking and chatting, Xuanzang, riding on the back of the White Horse, suddenly saw a tall mountain blocking their path.
Xuanzang couldn’t help but frown and said with concern, "Disciples, see how steep that mountain ahead is; we must be careful."
Sun Wukong replied with a smile, "Master, rest assured, with Old Sun here, you will be safe."
Xuanzang shook his head and said, "It’s not just about safety; look at that peak, standing tall, exuding a fierce aura. Dark clouds flying out, it’s extremely dangerous. I feel uneasy just looking at it from afar."
At that moment, Zhu Bajie also laughed and said, "Master, you just relax. With us here, do you need to worry about some little demons? Even if they show up, we guarantee they won’t be able to leave."
