Chapter 368: Chapter 369 Let’s Give You Some Advice
"Alas, Brother Monkey, you’re going to save Master again!"
Zhu Bajie had not expected Sun Wukong to be so ready to rescue Master without a second thought, which seemed somewhat amiss!
In the past, Brother Monkey often did not rescue Xuanzang, but this time he was so concerned. However, since Brother Monkey was so concerned, Zhu Bajie naturally would not leave on his own.
"I, Old Pig, was just speaking off the cuff! Let’s go save Master right away."
Upon seeing both Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie preparing to save Xuanzang, Sand Monk breathed a sigh of relief.
With a furrowed brow, Sun Wukong spoke, "That demon was wounded by Old Sun, and now he’s taken Master. He won’t get far. Since they’ve headed west, I suspect they are hiding in Lion Camel City. Let’s go there to save your Master."
After finishing, Sun Wukong turned to Sand Monk and instructed, "Pigsy and I will go ahead. Have White Dragon Horse carry the luggage, and we’ll meet up in Lion Camel City."
Sand Monk hastily agreed.
Then, Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie rode the clouds, heading westward. It wasn’t long before they indeed saw a city in the distance.
The city’s banners fluttered in the wind, and atop the city walls stood a row of soldiers, all of them demons.
Originally, Lion Camel City was a minor kingdom of the Western Direction. Five hundred years prior, the Roc had come here, consumed the king, his courtiers, and every citizen, clean and clear. Now it gathered a horde of demons and occupied the city.
This fair city thus became one teeming with wolves and tigers, filled with monstrous energy. It was a place shrouded in dark and malevolent miasma, foreboding enough to terrify any onlooker.
At that moment, the Roc, accompanied by Green Lion and White Elephant, flew westward.
Arriving in front of Lion Camel City’s Golden Throne Hall, he revealed his human form and dropped several people on the ground. A group of demons swarmed forward, binding them tightly with ropes and gagging their mouths.
"Third brother, turn back and you’ll reach the shore!"
Green Fur Lion couldn’t help but speak out to persuade.
White Elephant nodded and added, "Elder brother is right, we were wrong. Our adversaries were never the Journey to the West quartet!"
"Big brother, second brother, you’ve been bewitched again. Let me restore your demon nature!"
Observing Green Fur Lion and White Elephant’s reaction, Roc frowned and, as he spoke, a powerful surge of monster energy emanated from his body.
Billowing monster energy swept over them.
In a mere instant, both Green Fur Lion and White Elephant were enshrouded by this force.
Even so, both Green Fur Lion and White Elephant couldn’t help but sit down cross-legged, palms pressed together in devoted reverence.
"Guards, take them away!"
Seeing that he could no longer restore his brothers’ demon nature, Roc dissipated the monster energy and bellowed.
Moments later, countless demons arrived and ushered Green Fur Lion and White Elephant away.
Despite this, Green Fur Lion still urged, "Third brother, salvation lies in turning back from this sea of suffering!"
"Third brother, why be a pawn of Buddhism? We have other paths to choose!"
Listening to Green Fur Lion and White Elephant’s voices quickly fade,
Roc clenched his teeth.
"I didn’t expect such powerful Great Demons as big brother and second brother to be converted by Xuanzang. Even I can no longer change them back!"
Roc spoke with a hint of anger.
This operation had been more costly than expected.
They had managed to capture Xuanzang and his companions, but now they faced such a predicament.
"That Monkey Sun is truly loathsome!"
Roc clenched his fists.
"Third Great King, why have the Great King and Second Great King changed like this?"
The demons of the place were naturally aware of their brotherhood.
"They’ve been converted by Xuanzang, their minds completely altered, beyond recovery!"
Roc shook his head as he spoke.
"Ah? What should we do?"
The little demon was somewhat shocked by this revelation.
"No matter, now that Xuanzang is in my grasp, I’m not afraid that I won’t be able to catch Sun Wukong and the rest this time!"
"Third Great King is wise, but it’s still uncertain how to deal with those people. Moreover, Sun Wukong is so cunning. Add to that Xuanzang’s ability to convert, I fear they won’t be easy to handle. Some of the lesser demons might be converted, and we might face trouble both from within and without!"
The little demon, hearing Roc’s words, frowned and said.
Roc nodded, "You have a point; we must be guarded. Help me hide Xuanzang well. Now that we have Xuanzang as a hostage, Monkey Sun and his party surely won’t act rashly!"
"As for Xuanzang’s power to convert, I have sealed it. He won’t have the ability to convert anyone now!"
The little demon nodded and said, "With Xuanzang in our hands, we do have extra security. But they have greater numbers, and Monkey Sun is full of tricks. If they sneakily rescue Xuanzang, then we’ll really be in trouble."
The little demon was still somewhat worried.
Golden-Winged Roc beckoned that little demon to come closer and whispered a few words to him.
The little demon nodded and said, "I will definitely hide that Xuanzang well and not let anyone discover him!"
After that, the little demon hastened away.
With the departure of the little demon, Golden-Winged Roc then closed his eyes and began healing his wounds.
It was not known how long had passed when Golden-Winged Roc seemed to have sensed something, abruptly opened his eyes, and looked into the distance.
He saw a cloud drifting from the east, and upon it, indistinct human figures could be seen. The cloud quickly arrived outside Lion Camel City, carrying none other than Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie.
Seeing this scene, Golden-Winged Roc gnashed his teeth and said, "I didn’t expect them to find this place so soon."
...
By now, Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie had arrived outside the city, standing in the air looking down at Lion Camel City, where the city walls were lined with demon soldiers and generals.
These monsters naturally also spotted Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong.
At once they sounded the gongs, causing chaos to erupt both inside and outside of the city walls.
The outside monsters hurried into the city, after which the city gates were closed, and groups of little demons wielding swords and spears rushed onto the city walls, ready to face the enemy.
Zhu Bajie, frowning at the sight of the monsters on the wall, said, "Brother Monkey, I didn’t expect these demons to have a nest here and even have built a city."
Sun Wukong looked at the scene and shook his head, explaining, "This city wasn’t built by them but by the humans who lived here before."
"About five hundred years ago, the Roc arrived here, devoured all the people in the city, and took over this city. Since then, it has become a gathering place for demons; now both inside and outside the city are full of them."
Hearing this, Zhu Bajie said angrily, "I can’t believe this Golden-Winged Roc is so savage. It’s a discredit to Buddhism that these demons haven’t been dealt with."
After finishing his speech, Zhu Bajie suddenly stepped forward, raised his nine-toothed rake, pointed at the demon soldiers and generals on the city wall, and shouted loudly, "Listen up, demons in the city, quickly bring out that dead bird and release our master. Otherwise, don’t blame your Old Pig for being heartless—I’ll rake down and make sure not a single one of you evil spirits survives."
The demons on the city wall, terrified by Zhu Bajie’s imposing manner, crouched on the wall with their heads shrunk back in fear, too scared to utter a word.
At this moment, the demon chief responsible for guarding the city had already sent someone to the royal palace within the city to report to the Golden-Winged Roc.
"Zhu Bajie, don’t get cocky!" Golden-Winged Roc roared, leading many monsters as they soared into the air, reaching the airspace above the wall in no time, poised in the sky with weapons in hand, each one glaring angrily at Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong across from them.
With Jingu Bang resting on his shoulder, Sun Wukong sneered and said, "Well look who dares to show up, you demon! Listen well—if you know what’s good for you, quickly present my master at the city gates!"
"Maybe Old Sun might spare your lives, but if you dare utter a single ’no’, Old Sun will strike you down one by one, sending all you wicked beasts straight to hell."
"How presumptuous, Sun Wukong! You’re not big, but you sure talk big. You used such despicable and shameless tricks to harm me before. I shall not let you off today. Come forward and prepare yourself to be minced into meat sauce by me," the Roc said with a vicious scowl at Sun Wukong.
Golden-Winged Roc, who had been tricked by Sun Wukong before, harbored a bone-deep hatred for him.
"Just now you demon wanted me to strike three blows, didn’t you? How come you ran away so quickly? Let Old Sun have another go!" Sun Wukong sneered and taunted.
Hearing these words, Golden-Winged Roc became even more furious.
"You impudent monkey, instead of confronting me, you went and called the Thunder Duke and Mother of Lightning to ambush me and still have the audacity to talk."
Golden-Winged Roc said with anger.
"We only agreed on three strikes, never specifying how. Besides, did the thunderbolts from Thunder Duke and Mother of Lightning harm you?" Sun Wukong asked nonchalantly.
Golden-Winged Roc frowned, "Indeed, they did not. How could such lightning strikes harm me!"
"Well then, it’s settled, it was still my attack!"
Golden-Winged Roc frowned, wanting to say something more, but he too knew he couldn’t justify his argument; he spoke grudgingly, "Sun Wukong, let’s negotiate!"
"Negotiate? I wonder what you want to talk about!"
Sun Wukong was quite surprised, what did the boy want to negotiate?
Now that Xuanzang was in the enemy’s hands, and they were at the city’s gates, what could there possibly be to discuss?
"Unless you’re planning to release our master and let us pass Lion Camel Ridge? That’s also acceptable!"
Sun Wukong suddenly recalled something and said while laughing.
"Keep dreaming!"
Golden-Winged Roc spoke angrily, "Sun Wukong, don’t be so pleased with yourself. Don’t forget, your master is still in my hands!"
"Oh, that Bald Donkey? What do you plan to do with him? Are you planning to steam him? Or maybe roast or stew?"
"We could give you some suggestions!"
"It might be good to taste what Xuanzang has to offer, right, Idiot?"
Hearing Sun Wukong’s words, Zhu Bajie was also taken aback!
