Journey to the West: Starting from Changing Sun Wukong’s fate
Chapter 260 - 261 The Celestial Court Is No Good Thing

Chapter 260: Chapter 261 The Celestial Court Is No Good Thing

Zhu Bajie frowned and said, "It’s not easy to carry. If I were to carry Master and ride the clouds and fog, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to fly up even three feet. It’s said that carrying a mortal is as heavy as Mount Tai, and if I tried to carry him swimming, I would probably sink into the water!"

"What about Sand Monk?"

Xuanzang turned to look at Sand Monk.

"Master, there is a boat over there, let’s get him to ferry us across!"

Just then, as Sand Monk was thinking of an excuse, he suddenly spotted a boat in the distance.

At this moment, Xuanzang looked in that direction and indeed, there was a boat there.

"Boatman, come over here quickly, we need to cross the river!"

Sand Monk also hurriedly shouted towards the distant boatman.

The person on the boat seemed to have just noticed them and looked over.

The person on the boat shouted back, "I’m not a ferryman, how can I ferry people across?"

As the boat approached, Xuanzang could see clearly that it was just a chunk of wood, carved, with a cabin that could only fit two people.

Xuanzang couldn’t help but worry and said, "What shall we do now?"

Sand Monk laughed and replied, "No matter, as long as Master can get across, there’s no need for us to worry!"

"Sand Monk, you take Master across the river. We’ll protect you from the side!"

Sun Wukong directly gave the order.

Afterward, Sand Monk carried Xuanzang onto the boat, and White Dragon Horse also reverted to human form, as the five disciples together headed for the opposite shore.

A moment later, they reached the middle of the river.

Suddenly, a fierce wind struck.

It was extremely powerful.

Instantly, the entire Black Water River churned with waves that blotted out the sky.

And the boatman had already disappeared without a trace.

At this point, the small boat was like a solitary leaf in the angry sea waves, about to overturn in the water at any second.

Sand Monk quickly took to the air with Xuanzang, and in the moment they ascended, the boat below sunk into the water.

At that moment, the wind grew even more ferocious.

It seemed determined to sweep the westbound travelers into the river.

However, even so, the companions remained still in the air, resolute.

"It seems that the boatman just now was a monster. As soon as we reached the middle of the river, he made his move!"

Sand Monk spoke with a frown.

"Master really faces disaster at every turn. We’d just escaped demonic obstruction, and though the journey has been relatively smooth, to think we would encounter this Black Water River!"

As Sand Monk spoke, he prepared to fly Master to the shore.

Seeing that Sand Monk and Xuanzang were about to make it to the opposite shore, the demon in the water really couldn’t help but want to take action.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before a monster wielding a bamboo joint steel whip emerged from the Black Water River.

This monster had a face as round as a plate, shining with light, a gaping maw of a mouth, and hair like the furious Thunder Duke. He was clad in iron armor, looking as formidable as the deity Tai Sui.

As soon as the monster appeared, he bellowed, "You’ve got some skills to dodge so quickly, but now that you’re in the midst of this Black Water River, no matter how skilled you are, you won’t escape!"

The monster appeared eager to show off his might.

His bamboo joint steel whip was swung down fiercely, but as he made his move, he already sensed something was amiss.

Looking ahead, he saw Xuanzang and Sand Monk standing calmly in the void.

They showed no reaction to his arrival.

As for the other few, their gazes were full of indifference, as if they considered it beneath them to engage with him.

It was the transformed Little White Dragon who seemed itching for a fight.

After all, he had been in the form of a White Horse for so long that he couldn’t use his cultivation techniques properly. Now that he finally had the chance to revert to human form and encountered this monster, naturally, he wanted to take on the monster.

However, the monster took one look at Little White Dragon’s appearance and sensed that he wouldn’t be easy to deal with.

This monster had only heard that a Buddhist who had cultivated for ten lifetimes was passing by this area. If he ate this person’s flesh, he would greatly increase his lifespan and even improve his cultivation level.

He did not expect this man to have so many demons by his side.

He keenly felt that eating Xuanzang’s flesh might be difficult and challenging.

Then he addressed the Little White Dragon, "You pretty boy, you don’t look very capable. I, Black Water River, don’t bury the nameless. You all go ahead; I won’t stop you. I have other things to attend to, so I’ll take my leave!"

This little demon had just been all bluster, but then whooshed away, diving into the Black Water River.

This scene left both Little White Dragon and Xuanzang on the river in stunned disbelief.

They had never before encountered such a shameless monster.

Clearly scared and fleeing, yet he had the audacity to claim he was sparing them a path to life.

"Sand Senior Brother, you take Master across first. I’ll deal with this little demon!"

Little White Dragon spoke directly.

Upon hearing this, Sand Monk nodded and said, "Good, you also move quickly, the sooner we deal with this little demon, the sooner we can hit the road!"

Little White Dragon nodded, transforming into a streak of white light that shot directly into the Black Water River.

Little White Dragon had not easily obtained the ability to take on human form and naturally did not want to revert immediately; upon encountering someone that could be taught a lesson, he couldn’t help but want to do so.

Afterward, Sand Monk took Xuanzang to the other side.

At this time, Zhu Bajie and Sun Wukong also reached the other side.

"This monster is really courting death, actually troubling us!"

Sun Wukong shook his head.

"Senior brother, do you think Little White Dragon is a match for that demon?"

Zhu Bajie asked worriedly from the side.

"Little White Dragon is, after all, a Dragon Son from the Dragon Palace; how could he not deal with a little demon!"

Sun Wukong waved his hand unconcernedly, believing that for Little White Dragon, dealing with this monster would be a piece of cake.

By then, Little White Dragon had already entered the Black Water River.

Before long, he saw a pavilion ahead.

Outside the pavilion gate was a stone stele, on which eight large characters were inscribed:

"Black Water River God Mansion of Hengyang Ravine."

Upon seeing this scene, Little White Dragon scoffed and said, "Just playing god and ghosts!"

With that, he went straight to knock on the door.

The monster that had just returned to its cave dwelling was angered by the sound of banging on the door; armed with a bamboo-joint steel whip, it rushed out and bellowed, "I’ve already let you cross the river, why are you still not letting things go?"

Little White Dragon chuckled lightly and said, "You little demon, clearly it was you who felt that something was amiss, thinking you were no match for us, and thus you left first. And now you’re here pretending otherwise!"

After the group crossed the Black Water River, an elderly man emerged from a hidden spot, kneeling in the distance before kowtowing and saying, "Great Saint, the Black Water River God pays his respects."

Everyone turned toward the elder, all taken aback.

Sun Wukong snorted coldly and said, "Could it be that you are that boating demon, come to deceive us again?"

Everyone was filled with suspicion; if this old man was truly the River God of the Black Water River, then who was the person beneath the water?

Hearing Sun Wukong’s words, the old man hurriedly continued to kowtow, amid sobs and tears he said, "Great Saint, I’m not any demon, I am the River God of this Black Water River, the one in the water is the demon!"

Hearing the old man’s words, Zhu Bajie also couldn’t help but step forward and ask, "If you are the River God, then who is the one in the water?"

The old man sighed deeply before starting to pour his sorrows out to Sun Wukong, "Great Saint, I would not dare to deceive you!"

"That demon arrived here in the Black Water River last May, drifting along the rivers from the great sea."

"Upon arriving, the demon insisted on fighting me for the Black Water River. Alas, aged and weakened, I could only fight for a while before I was defeated!"

"Then, he seized my Black Water River God Mansion. Not only that, after taking over my territory, he also injured many of my Aquatic Tribe!"

"I was no match for him and went to the West Sea Dragon Palace to lodge a complaint, but little did I know, the West Sea Dragon King is his uncle. My complaints were in vain; I was even told to cede my dwelling for the use of his nephew!"

"Out of anger, I wanted to appeal to the Celestial Court, but as a mere minor deity, I couldn’t possibly go to the Celestial Court or meet the Jade Emperor, so I had no choice but to let it be and let him occupy my cave dwelling!"

"Today, when I heard the Great Saint had come here, I specifically came to seek an audience, hoping the Great Saint would help me drive away that demon and reclaim my dwelling!"

The old man was weeping profusely as he spoke, appearing very sorrowful.

Everyone frowned upon hearing this.

Sand Monk was also filled with anger, "This demon has truly gone too far, relying on his uncle being the West Sea Dragon King, to brazenly seize someone else’s dwelling; it’s truly reprehensible!"

"Even the Celestial Court is at fault. Something like this happened in their jurisdiction, and they didn’t even provide an opportunity for a hearing!"

Even though Sand Monk was formerly the Great General Who Lifts the Curtain in the Celestial Court, the sight of such injustice still roused his indignation.

"I always said, the Celestial Court and those hypocritical Bald Donkeys in the Western Direction are no different, only caring about their own interests!"

Nodding in agreement, everyone voiced their consensus.

Upon hearing this, Sand Monk fell silent.

After all, he was originally sent by the Celestial Court to supervise the Westbound Travelers, but this time, he had to admit that the Celestial Court was wrong.

Seeing Sand Monk’s expression, a glint flashed in Sun Wukong’s eyes as he stepped forward to help up the old man, "Rest assured, if the Celestial Court won’t deal with it, we will. After all, they’re not good for anything!"

Sand Monk opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but ultimately nothing came out.

"It’s just a little demon relying on having some background. As for us, that counts for nothing. Junior Brother Sand, you agree, right?"

"Now that Little White Dragon has gone into the Black Water River, be at ease. I believe it won’t be long before we can capture that demon!"

"Little White Dragon is still the Dragon Crown Prince after all; what is that demon in comparison!"

Upon hearing this, the Black Water River God knelt down hastily again, knocking his head repeatedly in gratitude to the Westbound Travelers.

Meanwhile, he kept chanting, "Thank you, Great Saint, thank you, Great Saint!"

"I’ll forever remember the Great Saint’s kindness!"
