Chapter 259 - 260: Saint Points Out the Way to 6 Eared Macaque
Chapter 259: Chapter 260: Saint Points Out the Way to 6 Eared Macaque
The Six Eared Macaque was also considered one of the more powerful among the Four Monkeys of Chaos.
He had always been dissatisfied with the Intelligent Stone Monkey but never had the chance to deal with him. Unexpectedly, he now had the opportunity to receive guidance from a Saint.
This was like a pie falling from the sky.
For a moment, the Six Eared Macaque couldn’t help but feel extremely excited.
"Since you don’t oppose, then it’s settled!"
Sakyamuni Tathagata, seeing that the Six Eared Macaque didn’t refuse, couldn’t help but nod his head.
Of course, that was to be expected, as which being would give up such an opportunity.
At that time, only four Saints had come forward in the Three Realms.
They were the most powerful beings in the Three Realms.
If one could receive their guidance, naturally, one’s strength could be rapidly enhanced.
While Sakyamuni was speaking, he summoned a novice monk to take the Six Eared Macaque deep into the Western Heaven’s Posa Pure Land.
Sakyamuni Tathagata had already informed the Two Saints of the West about this matter.
The Two Saints of the West also knew that Sun Wukong was a bit troublesome at the moment, and if this development continued, it would not be favorable for their promotion of the Journey to the West.
Even if they eventually managed to reach perfection, by the time the Buddhist star calamity arrived, they might not help Buddhism.
At that time, the Six Eared Macaque followed the little novice monk, walking towards the front, feeling incredibly nervous and excited.
Thinking that he was about to receive guidance from a Saint, he was over the moon.
He had long felt that his own strength was not strong enough.
If he could enhance his strength, perhaps he could even kill the Intelligent Stone Monkey, something he had longed for countless days and nights.
The Six Eared Macaque, like the other Four Monkeys of Chaos, felt that only they were worthy of the title as the leaders of the Four Monkeys of Chaos.
And now he finally had the chance to surpass the Intelligent Stone Monkey.
He could hardly contain his excitement.
By this time, Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti had already been waiting here for a long time.
Upon seeing the two, the Six Eared Macaque immediately knelt down and then looked up at them with the utmost devotion.
"Greetings to the two Saints!"
These two were genuine Saints, not mere incarnations of Saints.
The Six Eared Macaque, though confident in his own extraordinary strength, did not dare to be presumptuous in front of the Saints.
If he were disrespectful, he might very well endanger his own life.
Now that the Six Eared Macaque had seen the Saints, his heart was filled with intense excitement.
Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti, upon seeing the Six Eared Macaque come forward, also nodded calmly.
The novice monk did not dare to delay and hurriedly left.
After seeing the novice monk depart, Zhunti then looked at the Six Eared Macaque, nodded, and said, "Are you the Six Eared Macaque?"
The Six Eared Macaque straightened up, his voice full of vigor, and replied, "Yes, the Six Eared Macaque greets the two Saints!"
Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti sized up the Six Eared Macaque from head to toe.
Zhunti nodded and said, "Good, your potential as a macaque is impressive!"
Upon hearing Saint Zhunti’s words, the Six Eared Macaque couldn’t help but feel overjoyed.
Then, he quickly knelt down again, speaking with elated gratitude, "Thank you, two Saints, for conferring your teachings!"
Amitabha Buddha and Zhunti also nodded in approval.
Together, the Two Sages intoned, "Amitabha Buddha!"
Amitabha Buddha raised his hand, and in an instant, a cascade of ruddy light fell, the spectacle strikingly beautiful and dazzling.
If ordinary mortals were illuminated by such light, they would certainly become calm and peaceful, as if their entire being were being cleansed.
Moreover, it had the wondrous effect of banishing evil and being impervious to all laws.
At that moment, the light fell upon the Six Eared Macaque, kneeling on the ground, and he immediately entered a profound and mysterious state of enlightenment.
His body radiated a brilliant light, surrounded by many mystical Daoist charms.
The Six Eared Macaque quickly sat cross-legged and started to perceive, not daring to waste this incredible opportunity.
...
Meanwhile, in the forest, Sand Monk had been sitting on one side, waiting for Brother Monkey to come. He was putting the luggage on the horse while holding the treasure staff in one hand and leading the reins with the other, walking out of the forest and looking into the distance.
"Junior Brother Sand, you don’t need to worry too much, Big Brother will be back!"
Zhu Bajie, unfazed, said, "Besides, with Guanyin Bodhisattva stepping in, what need do we have for worry?"
"Second Senior Brother, isn’t it better to be safe than sorry?"
Sand Monk was somewhat anxious; until they saw their Master in front of them, they could not be at ease.
"Isn’t that Big Brother up ahead?"
Just then, Zhu Bajie looked into the distance, and indeed, a figure appeared ahead.
Seeing him, Sand Monk was indeed Brother Monkey. His face immediately lit up with joy, and he hurriedly went up to meet him.
"Big Brother, how did it go, did you subdue the monster?"
Sand Monk’s voice was anxious, fearing they still couldn’t subdue the demons and rescue their Master.
"The monster has been subdued!"
At that moment, Sun Wukong recounted everything that had just happened. Upon hearing Sun Wukong’s words, Sand Monk couldn’t help but show a look of surprise.
Zhu Bajie thought to himself, "Brother Monkey is right, they are under surveillance, which is why Guanyin Bodhisattva came so quickly. It is possible that the demons here are arranged by Buddhism as well."
"Second Senior Brother, let’s go rescue Master together!"
With a shout, Sand Monk, Sun Wukong, and Zhu Bajie headed to Fire Cloud Cave.
But as soon as they entered Fire Cloud Cave,
The three of them were stupefied.
They had thought they would need to kill some demons, but the demons they encountered were all sitting in meditation at Panxi, appearing as though they had converted.
"Master is truly master, having converted the people in Fire Cloud Cave!"
Sand Monk exclaimed emotionally.
Zhu Bajie said with a bitter smile, "And we thought we needed to rescue him?"
Sun Wukong smiled wryly, "I said did Master really need us to rescue him?"
"We better hurry and find Master!"
Although Sand Monk saw this scene, he was still somewhat worried, so afterward the three of them walked deeper inside.
The three proceeded along the cave toward the back.
Before they even got close, a thick Buddha’s light spread towards them.
Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk both felt a strange urge to convert.
Sun Wukong couldn’t help but shake his head.
Just then, the spread of Buddha’s light stopped and disappeared, the Buddhist chanting faded.
Xuanzang walked out from the cave.
Upon seeing that their master was unharmed, all three of them breathed a sigh of relief.
"Master, you’re alright!"
Sand Monk hurried forward to greet him.
Perhaps Sand Monk was an undercover agent from the celestial Court, but he genuinely cared for Xuanzang.
As for Sun Wukong, he never believed Xuanzang could die, and Zhu Bajie didn’t care if Xuanzang died or not; the better if he did, as it would mean breaking through the Calamity of Measurement.
Now that Xuanzang had emerged, countless demons from the Demon Race presented him with some treasures and food from inside the cave.
After Xuanzang had admonished them to diligently practice Buddhism, he and his disciples hit the road once again.
In the blink of an eye, several days had passed.
"Did any of you hear that sound of water?"
At that moment, Xuanzang suddenly spoke with a look of uncertainty.
Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong laughed and said, "You monk, are you experiencing auditory hallucinations now? So suspicious; out of the four of us, only you heard the sound of water. In the wilderness, where is there any water sound!"
"Master, now in pursuit of the True Scriptures, you fret and hallucinate all the time. Even walking on this road, you imagine hearing water. I think we do not need to pursue the scriptures anymore!"
Xuanzang said with a bitter smile, "Monkey, you don’t understand. Ever since I left the Emperor years ago, I’ve constantly been traveling, and do you know why?"
"Is it not for the sake of obtaining the True Scriptures soon?"
Upon hearing this, Sun Wukong laughed and said, "Of course I know what you, the monk, are thinking. If we can get past this Calamity of Measurement, you will surely retire successfully!"
"It’s commonly said, ’success comes naturally when the time is ripe!’"
Zhu Bajie couldn’t help but bitterly smile, "Brother Monkey, considering the demons and monsters we’ve encountered along the way, who knows how much more perilous it will be in the future? Perhaps it might take a thousand years to succeed!"
Sand Monk spoke up, "Second Senior Brother, both you and I see things clearly. It’s well said that plans are made by men and success given by heaven. One day, there will surely be an opportunity for success!"
The four companions talked as they continued forward.
Before long, they saw a vast expanse of dark water stretching before them.
All four stopped at the shore, contemplating the dark water ahead.
They saw waves after waves, each blending into the next, as if the water swirled with black oil.
Up close, no human figures were reflected; even from a distance, not a single tree could be seen.
Endless ink spread on the ground, gray spanning thousands of miles; foam floated up like piled charcoal, spray fluttered like tossed coal, neither cattle nor sheep would drink, crows and magpies struggled to fly.
Xuanzang dismounted from his horse and said, "Why is this water so murky?"
Zhu Bajie also took a deep look at the river and said, "Maybe an immortal spilled ink in it!"
Sand Monk couldn’t help but laugh and said, "Or perhaps some deity was washing his brush."
Sun Wukong, at a loss for words, said, "What use is there in arguing about this now? Whether the river is black or not doesn’t concern us. We should just help Master cross the river quickly."
Zhu Bajie, looking at the river in front of him, said, "What’s so difficult about this river? We can just fly across!"
"Even if we swim across, it wouldn’t take longer than it takes to finish a meal!"
Sand Monk also laughed and said, "If old Sand were to cross the river, it would only take a blink of an eye, not much effort at all!"
Sun Wukong, of course, knew and said, "Crossing the river is easy for us, but not so for Master!"
Xuanzang, looking at the river, said with some difficulty, "How wide is this river?"
After taking a look, Zhu Bajie furrowed his brows and said, "It must be at least ten meters wide!"
"In that case, I think you should discuss among yourselves who will carry me across!"
Xuanzang said with a furrowed brow, looking at his three disciples.
Sun Wukong naturally did not want to carry his own master. He immediately spoke up, "Let Bajie carry him!"
Zhu Bajie looked at Sun Wukong, seeing that Sun Wukong didn’t want to carry him, he naturally didn’t want to either.
