Journey to the West: I have Nine Golden Crows Inside Me

Chapter 703: The backup plan of the Tathagata Buddha 566.

Om, om, om...

Within the hum, behind Jiang Chen, the ninth Merit Gold Wheel, which originally seemed incredibly illusionary, now fully took form, casting a brilliant golden light.

The formation of nine Merit Gold Wheels signifies that the merit Jiang Chen has accumulated is already sufficient to elevate him to the Innate Dao Sovereign Realm.

Even if he were not able to make a breakthrough to the Innate Dao Sovereign Realm when his lifespan is drawing to a close, there would be no need for concern. As long as he devoured the nine Merit Gold Wheels behind him, he could immediately attain the Innate Dao Sovereign.

From this moment on, Jiang Chen’s greatest threat - the crisis of lifespan - has completely become a thing of the past.

"Good! Very good!"

"From this moment onwards, I have no worries!"

Sensing the appearance of the ninth Merit Gold Wheel, Jiang Chen’s face could not hide his excitement.

Although he was confident that he could break through to the Innate Dao Sovereign Realm, he hadn’t yet made the breakthrough. The emergence of the ninth Merit Gold Wheel at this moment acted as a calming pill, eliminating any worries he had left.

The formation of the ninth Merit Gold Wheel was not surprising to Jiang Chen. Even without the event of today, after another hundred years, the ninth Merit Gold Wheel would naturally take shape. The incidents of Xiniuhe Continent only hastened the process.

After all, for every day Cang Mountain existed, the merit on Jiang Chen’s body would increase slightly. Accumulated over time, it amounted to a substantial amount of merit.

Quickly, Jiang Chen took his gaze away from the Merit Gold Wheel and started to sense the changes in the Great Wish Technique. Now, the Great Wish Technique was the most important. Compared to it, everything else was secondary.

Calm and composed, Jiang Chen immediately felt a difference - a dense and potent force, unknown when, suddenly granted to him.

This force, heavy and profound, carried all the wonderful blessings and expectations. It was extraordinarily magnificent, seeming to be capable of suppressing all else.

This was the power of all living beings, or alternatively, the power of the Human Path.

Unexplainably, Jiang Chen had an enlightenment; he knew what lay at the end of the Great Wish Technique - it was the mastery of the power of the Human Path.

Making a grand vow could gain you the willpower of the living, possessing the strength to conquer all.

And by fulfilling the grand vow, one could convert the willpower of the living into the power of Human Path, ruling over all living beings, conquering all material objects, and suppressing all spirits.

Heavenly Dao, Earthly Dao, Human Path - these are the three strongest forces in the Prehistoric World. The reason why a saint is formidable, that even the Daluo Jinxian of the Primordial is not their match, is because a saint possesses the power of the Heavenly Dao.

Hou Tu dominates the Netherworld, and not even saints dare to provoke her lightly. The reason is that she possesses the power of Earthly Dao.

And now, through the Great Wish Technique, Jiang Chen touched upon the subtlety of the Human Path. If he can grasp it, though he may be unable to rival a saint, he would have some capabilities to oppose a Quasi-Saint.

Above the Spiritual Mountain, Jiang Chen released his divine thoughts to integrate with the power of Human Path, immersing himself wholly to comprehend the subtlety of Human Path.

During his immersion in the sea of Human Path, Jiang Chen completely lost track of time. When the living beings of Xiniuhe Continent no longer feedbacked the power of Human Path, causing Jiang Chen to awaken from his comprehension, already ten years have passed.

"The power of the Human Path, truly mysterious indeed!"

After a moment, Jiang Chen started to reminisce with a sigh.

The span of ten years, in comparison to the boundless sea that is the Human Path, was far too short. Jiang Chen had only apprehended a little before awakening from his contemplation.

In the Chaos World, while the Heavenly Dao gifted Jiang Chen, it completely lost its effect in front of the power of the Human Path.

Otherwise, with the uniqueness of the Chaos World, Jiang Chen would have achieved more than just this. He would already have some understanding of the Human Path.

It does make sense, too; the Heavenly Dao and the Human Path are equally grand. The power of Heavenly Dao not affecting the power of Human Path is normal.

"Has it already been ten years?"

"Time flies. Calculating the time, I have stayed in Xiniuhe Continent for quite a while. It’s time for me to leave. My ancestors are still waiting for me on the Sun Star!"

Jiang Chen got the answer he wanted.

Fulfilling a grand vow indeed amplifies the power of the Great Wish Technique, directly transforming the willpower of the living into the power of Human Path. This is not a simple power increase, but a fundamental transformation.

Since the objective was achieved, there was no need for him to continue staying in Xiniuhe Continent. It was time for him to head to Heaven Court for other important matters. The divine position of the Sun Star Lord was still waiting for him to inherit.

However, before leaving Xiniuhe Continent, Jiang Chen had one more thing to do - that was to eliminate the aftermath left behind by the Buddhas, such as Rulai Buddha.

The five Buddhas of the Spiritual Mountain, the Past Buddha, the Future Buddha, the Medicine Master Buddha, the Great Sun Buddha, and the Rulai Buddha, ruled Spiritual Mountain for countless years with unfathomable foundations. It would be impossible for them to have fallen without leaving any contingencies behind.

As for where these contingencies had been left, Jiang Chen knew, but he had never done anything about it nor had he thought about it.

The reason for doing so was firstly for fear of startling any potential troubles. The second reason was more realistic.

Now that the Great Divine Transcendents of the Mystic Sect have left Nanbuzhan Continent, Jiang Chen felt that with his current abilities, he might not necessarily be the opponent of the contingencies left behind by the Rulai Buddha and others. There was a high likelihood that he could encounter danger.

Therefore, after some thought, Jiang Chen decided to forget about this matter for the time being.

However, now that the Great Wish Technique had undergone transformation under the feedback from the living in Xiniuhe Continent, advancing from the willpower of the living to the power of the Human Path, its power greatly increased.

At this moment, Jiang Chen had the confidence and thought he might be up to the task. Thus, he decided to eliminate the contingencies left behind by the Rulai Buddha and others before leaving Xiniuhe Continent.

"The Buddha is merciful. Since the Buddhas have fallen, they should continue to remain as such and not reappear. The living beings of Xiniuhe Continent should no longer have to suffer their toxins."

With a sigh of sadness for the world and compassion for the people, and uttering the name of Buddha, Jiang Chen took a step forward, walking towards the depths of the void.

The contingency plan left behind by the Buddha Tathagata and others exists in the Spiritual Mountain, yet it does not.

It is said to be in the Spiritual Mountain because the place where this contingency plan is located overlaps with the Spiritual Mountain.

However, it is also said to be not in the Spiritual Mountain, because this place isn’t within reality.

Yes, it is not within reality!

The contingency plan left behind by the Buddha Tathagata and others doesn’t exist in reality, but in the void world.

The history of Buddhism’s discovery of the void world predates Jiang Chen by a lot. Their plans for the void world preceeded Jiang Chen as well.

Jiang Chen’s visit to the Xiniuhe Continent served two purposes. Apart from creating the Buddha Hell, the second objective was to explore the Buddhist door’s plans in the void world, and to see the extent of their achievements.

Unfortunately, plans couldn’t beat out rapid changes. Jiang Chen hadn’t had the chance to act when the Spiritual Mountain’s Buddhas disappeared.

After dealing with the affairs of the Spiritual Mountain, Jiang Chen once tried to inspect the situation within the void world. However, no matter the means Jiang Chen used, he was unable to detect any information related to the void world.

It was as if the Xiniuhe Continent didn’t have a void world at all.

But how could that be possible? As long as living creatures exist, a void world is inevitably born.

Unless all creatures here lack the Seven Emotions and Six Desires, have no thoughts or ambitions, have no thoughts leaked out. Only in this situation will the void world not be born.

However, the creatures of the Xiniuhe Continent are not such creatures. They have flesh and blood, they have their own joys, angers, sorrows, and pleasures, and are extremely rich in sentiment.

These were all witnessed by Jiang Chen.

The West must have had a void world born there, but Jiang Chen could not find any traces of its existence. This suggested that someone deliberately hid the Western void world?

Who did it?

Apart from the Buddha Tathagata and others, Jiang Chen couldn’t think of anyone else.

At that time, Jiang Chen knew there must be a problem with the void world or, the contingency plan of the Buddha Tathagata and others was hidden within it.

Jiang Chen guessed as much, but what of it?

His strength was on par with the Innate Dao Sovereign, not on par with the Quasi-Saint. Thus, even if he discovered the Buddha Tathagata and others’ contingency plan, he did not dare to approach rashly, for fear of being defeated inside.

If you can’t beat them, acting as if nothing happened is the safest course of action. But, after all, this was always an unsolved worry. Therefore, as soon as Jiang Chen gained enough strength, he thought of this matter.

...

.......

Concerning an understanding of the void world, although Buddhism discovered it early, it must not be as profound as Jiang Chen’s. Otherwise, the creation of the Divine Dao would not fall upon Jiang Chen but on the Buddhist door.

Discovery early doesn’t mean strength.

In terms of willpower, Jiang Chen is the strongest, without a doubt.

So, when he is determined to find the void world, even if the Buddhist door with the five great Tathagatas possess Quasi-Saint cultivations, the means they left behind struggle to escape Jiang Chen’s senses.

"As expected, the most dangerous place is the safest place. The ancients really didn’t lie to me!"

Looping around in the void, Jiang Chen returned to the foot of the Spiritual Mountain. Because he found out that the entrance to the Western void world is right at the foot of the Spiritual Mountain.

It shares an entrance with the Spiritual Mountain.

"That’s really quite something!"

Jiang Chen was also impressed by the Buddha Tathagata, ordinary people wouldn’t have thought the entrance was here. No wonder he couldn’t find the entrance to the void world after searching in the void for so long.

Taking a deep look at the gate of the Spiritual Mountain, Jiang Chen used the Great Wish Technique, covered his whole body with the power of the Human Path, and took a single step forward into the gate.

As he took this step, he instantly felt a difference as the surrounding void started changing rapidly. After a string of bizarre and unpredictable sights, Jiang Chen’s view returned to normal.

In front of Jiang Chen, there still stood the Spiritual Mountain enshrouded in Buddha’s light, looking no different from the external world. However, in the physical Spiritual Mountain, there were no Buddhas.

But now, the Spiritual Mountain in front of Jiang Chen, just as in times gone by, was where the Buddha sat and preached on the lotus platform, with countless Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats below listening to his teachings.

This scene made it seem as if the changes in the Spiritual Mountain never happened.

Jiang Chen’s sudden appearance caught the attention of the Buddhas in the Spiritual Mountain. Upon seeing that the visitor was Jiang Chen, they collectively revealed angry expressions, and chastised loudly:

"Jiang Chen!"

"You demon, you have the gall to appear here again?"

"You colluded with the Mystic Sect to obliterate the true lineage of our Buddhist Door. Heaven and earth will have no place for you."

"We haven’t come to find you yet, but you’ve taken the initiative to come, seeking death yourself. You can’t blame anyone."

"Jiang Chen, won’t you surrender and apologize to our Buddha?"
