Chapter 696: 559 Live Compilation of Buddhist Scripts

Jiang Chen planned to summon the majority of the disciples from the Buddhist door to Spiritual Mountain under the pretext of the Waterway Ceremony. He aimed to amass their willpower in the name of praying for blessings from the Buddhas, which would enable the Buddhas of Spiritual Mountain to actualize and truly come into being.

Although Jiang Chen’s power was limited, the power of Spiritual Mountain was infinite. By borrowing the power of Spiritual Mountain, Jiang Chen’s strength would rapidly increase, not only encompassing the entire Three Realms but also extending beyond it.

Since the establishment of Buddhism, not only has it held sway in the Three Realms, but it also has a significant following among the various heavens and realms. Surely, such a grand event as the birth of the Buddhas of Spiritual Mountain could not only be witnessed by the believers in the Three Realms?

The believers from the numerous heavens and realms should also visit Spiritual Mountain. Given the great distance between the various heavens and realms and the Three Realms, if they could not make the trip on time, it wouldn’t matter — Jiang Chen would open a passage for them to pass through.

No matter how far away they were, Jiang Chen could use his Divine Ability to project everything happening on Spiritual Mountain into every corner of the various heavens and realms, allowing even more people to witness the birth of the Buddhas.

Countless followers of Buddhism would pray for blessings for them.

The birth of Amitabha Buddha ignited a spark of revelation in Jiang Chen’s mind. He felt that his previous vision was too narrow, only focusing on the Three Realms. However, the territories within the numerous heavens and realms were even wider, the number of living beings even greater. Clearly, they were more significant.

With such a multitude of worshippers in the various heavens and realms, Jiang Chen couldn’t ignore them. If these believers’ power was added, it would undoubtedly accelerate the birth of the Buddhist gods and make them even more powerful.

Therefore, even if all the worshippers from the numerous heavens and realms couldn’t arrive in person, Jiang Chen would find a way for them to witness the birth of the gods.

This was to collect willpower from them — no, it was to let the believers witness their greatness.

...

As time flowed, under the guidance of the Buddha light, disciples from Buddhism slowly arrived.

The first ones to arrive were the disciples from the Xiniuhe Continent, the closest area to Spiritual Mountain. They were followed by the disciples from the Four Continents, the Heavenly Realm, the Netherworld, and finally, the disciples of Buddhism from beyond the Three Realms.

Upon reaching Spiritual Mountain, these disciples did not make any noise. Instead, they chose a spot nearby, sat down quietly, as guided by Jiang Chen, and began to chant the sutra of Amitabha Buddha.

At this moment, Jiang Chen directed the Buddha light to guide the remaining disciples while also started writing sutras on the spot.

Yes, while the crowd hadn’t quite arrived yet, Jiang Chen planned to begin writing a few sutras and some Buddhist legends.

Jiang Chen did all of this for the willpower of Buddhism. There was simply too much, even if all the Buddhas of Spiritual Mountain were born, it couldn’t all be used up.

Abiding by the principle of non-waste, Jiang Chen planned to create a few powerful Buddhas and use the remaining willpower of Buddhism to manifest them.

Well, this was basically Jiang Chen feeling that there weren’t enough powerful figures in Buddhism. Therefore, he planned to bring a few powerful Buddhas into being.

This too was an inspiration from Amitabha Buddha.

A nonexistent Buddha, once manifested, possessed such great power that it could rival the Great Divine Transcendents.

Jiang Chen could surely emulate Amitabha Buddha, continue developing the story based on him, and create several ancient and powerful Buddhas.

He didn’t aim for them to be as powerful as Amitabha Buddha, only for them to have power comparable to the Innate Dao Sovereign. If they could achieve that, Jiang Chen would be thoroughly satisfied.

As for the feasibility of this move, Jiang Chen wasn’t sure. But he was simply giving it a shot. If it worked out, wouldn’t that be a big win for him?

In a blink of an eye, three months had passed.

When Jiang Chen looked down, all he could see was a vast sea of heads, with no end in sight.

Seeing this scene, Jiang Chen knew that most people had arrived. With a move of his heart, he retracted the Buddha light.

In an instant, the Buddha light receded. There was no longer any Buddha light descending from Spiritual Mountain.

In the various heavens and realms beyond the Three Realms, the Buddhist disciples who were about to set foot on the Buddha light-formed passage to Spiritual Mountain saw the sudden disappearance of the Buddha light before them. They couldn’t help beating their chests and stamping their feet in frustration.

It must be that their accumulated merits were insufficient, and they had no fortune to go to Spiritual Mountain.

Looking down at the congregation, Jiang Chen slowly said: "From the creation of the world till now, Buddhism has gone through fifty-four generations. Each generation has one Buddha. Taking Randeng Buddha as the boundary, tracing back, there have been fifty-four ancient Buddhas in Buddhism."

As soon as Jiang Chen’s words fell, the disciples below were shocked and looked incredulously at Jiang Chen.

They didn’t know that Buddhism had such a long history. According to legend, Amitabha Buddha was the oldest Buddha of Buddhism and the founder. Afterwards, Randeng Ancient Buddha was born and became a Buddha in the past.

These two Buddhas are the oldest in Buddhism. But what did Jiang Chen just say? He said that before Randeng Ancient Buddha, there were fifty-four Buddhas in Buddhism.

This was truly beyond everyone’s expectations.

After the surprise, all the disciples of Buddhism were eager to hear Jiang Chen continue. This was the secret history of Buddhism, and probably few people in Buddhism knew about it.

Indeed, not many people knew, except Jiang Chen, of course. After all, he was the one making up the story on the spot.

No one doubted Jiang Chen. He was the Buddha of Virtue and Vajra, the most compassionate Buddha in Buddhism. He had boundless merits. How could he lie?

No one believed, and no one dared to imagine, that someone would blatantly lie in front of all the disciples of Buddhism.

In fact, it doesn’t matter, after all, apart from Jiang Chen, there were no other Buddha left on Spiritual Mountain. So what if he blatantly made up the history of Buddhism on the spot? Who could expose him?

When only Jiang Chen was left on Spiritual Mountain, whatever he said was right.

Under the expectant gazes of everyone, Jiang Chen did not disappoint, and he continued: "After the era of the Dharma Treasure Bodhisattva’s teacher, Sovereign King Buddha, there were fifty-three Buddhas in Buddhism."

At this point, someone couldn’t help but ask: "May I ask, which Bodhisattva is this Dharma Treasure Bodhisattva in Buddhism?"

Everyone knew who Sovereign King Buddha was, but they were somewhat unfamiliar with Dharma Treasure Bodhisattva. No one had heard of him before.

Jiang Chen explained: "Each generation has one Buddha. Tracing back from Randeng Buddha, after fifty-three Buddhas, we reach the era when Sovereign King Buddha resided in the world. There was a king who developed the supreme aspiration for the Tao, renounced his throne, and became a monk named Dharma Treasure. He practiced under Sovereign King Buddha, thoroughly understood the Pure Lands of the Buddhas, and after contemplation spanning five kalpas, he made forty-eight exceptional vows.

"Afterwards, he continually accumulated merit and ten kalpas ago, his vow was fulfilled, he became Amitabha Buddha. Far to the west from here, a hundred billion Buddha-lands away, he reaps the rewards in the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss."

Jiang Chen’s words were somewhat shameless. He, the youngest Buddha in Buddhism, had audaciously made himself the oldest Buddha in Buddhism, even older than the original Buddha of Buddhism, Amitabha Buddha.

However, although what Jiang Chen said was exaggerating, the believers below believed it and chorus: "Amitabha Buddha, full of light and goodness, brighter than the sun or moon, a thousand million billion times. Supreme in the light, the King among Buddhas!"
