Chapter 675: 540, swapping day and night and setting up another Buddhist door

After hearing Jiang Chen’s explanation, someone came to realization and couldn’t help but sigh, "So that’s it, we were all deceived by Demon King Poxun into thinking that Buddha was fond of gold and silver."

"When you think about it, Buddha doesn’t lack gold or silver. How could he make us spend a hefty sum to construct that useless Golden Body for him?"

"Turns out, this was all Demon King’s trick."

"The Demon King is really cunning! During the Age of Dharma Decline, he dispatched his disciples to infiltrate into the monasteries. Disguising themselves as monks and distorting the Buddhist scriptures, they violate the precepts aiming to destroy the Buddhist law."

"How malicious one must be to come up with such a wicked plan."

Suddenly, someone, enlightened by this, asked Jiang Chen, "Dare I ask, Buddha, how did Buddha respond when he heard the words of the Heavenly Demon King Poxun?"

Indeed, how would Buddha respond to the malicious Poxun? Everybody was quite curious and turned their eyes to Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen shook his head and whispered, "Buddha said nothing, he just wept quietly."

Ears dropped at these words and everyone immediately fell silent. These were just ordinary words, yet they made people feel an overwhelming sense of sorrow.

Even the all-powerful Buddha was crying. How sorrowful he must be! He wept for all living beings, afraid they would be harmed by the demonic way."

After the silence passed, a monk asked,"Dare I ask, Buddha, are there methods to differentiate between a true Buddha and a false Buddha?"

Upon hearing these words, everyone came to realization and immediately asked,"Yes, our Buddha. Since the Buddhas and Demons are mixed up and it’s hard for us common beings to differentiate between them, please show us the method to differentiate between a true Buddha and a false Buddha."

As they spoke, everyone bowed towards Jiang Chen, begging him to enlighten them about the method to differentiate between Buddhas and Demons.

Jiang Chen gave a faint smile, raising his hand to stop those who were about to kneel "Get up, there’s no need for such formalities. If it’s the question of the masses, I’ll provide the answer."

"The method to distinguish between a true Buddha and a false Buddha is quite simple. You should all know that the Buddha is guided by compassion."

"Therefore, anything that contradicts compassion, anything that cannot universally deliver all beings from the struggles, is a false Buddhist scripture. Even if it was said by Buddha himself, it is false."

"On the contrary, if it is gentle and kind, can deliver the masses, and can liberate them from the struggles, even if it has not been passed down by Buddha, it can be accepted as a word of Buddha."

Upon hearing these words the crowd was stunned and chorused, "Our Buddha is compassionate, how virtuous!"

Everyone was excited, for the Buddha that Jiang Chen presented was the Buddha they had always imagined: a selfless entity who did good deeds and was determined to save the masses.

The Buddha they knew demanded them to offer large amounts of gold and silver. They didn’t earn their money from the wind, they thought, as they handed it over to the temples without a second thought. Although they didn’t express anything openly, who knows what they were actually thinking?

"Well..."

The old monk hesitated, giving a puzzled look. After a while, he said, "Buddha, what you just said does not correspond to the Buddhist scriptures I learned."

"The ancient Buddha once said, there are three seals of law in Buddhism: All things are transient, all laws are selfless, and nirvana is peaceful. Any law that does not violate these three seals is a true Buddhist law."

"What the ancient Buddha said differs greatly from what you, Buddha, have said."

Although the old monk didn’t explicitly state it, his words made it clear enough. Jiang Chen was lying. There was no such thing in the Buddhist scriptures that said one could distinguish true from false scriptures by using compassion.

Jiang Chen wasn’t bothered by his doubts but kept on smiling, "What you said, I’ve also heard somewhat. That is the Hinayana Buddhism, an inferior path, difficult to achieve the righteous fruit."

"What I said is the Mahayana Buddhism, which teaches people to save themselves. Overcome all hardships and external demons with the power of the Great Majestic Heavenly Dragon, and ultimately, achieve the righteous fruit using one’s own power"

"The practitioners of my Mahayana Buddhism don’t rely on foreign forces or things. They seek within themselves, they do not need to offer gold, silver, or treasures, and anyone can achieve the righteous fruit."

"To the practitioners of my Mahayana Buddhism, view all Buddhas of the Spiritual Mountain as demons, even monks, nuns, Bodhisattvas, and Arhats."

"Later, discern the Buddhas of the Spiritual Mountain with a compassionate heart. Respect them as true Buddhas if they are compassionate. If they are not compassionate, then even if it’s the Holy Land of the Spiritual Mountain, it can still be transformed into an unparalleled demon cave."

As Jiang Chen’s words fell, the Buddhas on the Spiritual Mountain sensed it and showed anger, staring at Jiang Chen with their furious eyes.

"Classifying us as demons? Aren’t you afraid of a huge scandal? Do you really see yourself as the supreme of all Buddhas?"

"Jiang Chen, the Spiritual Mountain is not of your Human Race. It’s not a place where you can conceal the truth from everyone else. Apologize to us now!"

"Saying that we are demons, aren’t you the demon? Only when one harbors demons in one’s heart can he see demons everywhere."

"Jiang Chen, you have fallen into the demonic way."

Innumerable voices questioning, traversing the layers of void and constantly echoing in Jiang Chen’s ears.

These were the roars of the Buddhas expressing their dissatisfaction. Jiang Chen considered the Spiritual Mountain to be a demon cave. He had offended all the Buddhas."

Hearing the roar of the Buddhas, Jiang Chen didn’t feel much except annoyance. His strength had increased by leaps and bounds."

In Buddhism, other than the few Quasi-Saint powerhouses, Jiang Chen wasn’t afraid of anyone else, not even the ancient Buddhas of the Innate Dao Sovereign level.

If it really came to a fight, the Taichu Divine Sword wouldn’t hesitate to kill the Innate Dao Sovereign."

The simple Buddha’s voice was not a threat to Jiang Chen."

However, the continuous echoing of the roar in his ears was quite annoying."

"What a nuisance!"

Sighing, Jiang Chen said to the crowd, "Did you hear that? I just uncovered a corner of the truth about Buddhism today and it has already attracted the attention of the demons. There’s even demon’s sound coming from the Spiritual Mountain."

"It seems that the rumors from those years are true. The Spiritual Mountain has long been destroyed, The Great Thunderclap Temple has turned into ruins, the Buddhas are in bloodshed, and the entire Xiniuhe Continent has long been turned into demon-infested land."

"This is why at the foot of the Spiritual Mountain, demons, ghosts, and other monsters keep emerging without stopping."

Jiang Chen had initially planned to pass down the Mahayana Buddhism and leave. But the Buddhas wouldn’t give him any face and tried to scare him.

How could Jiang Chen bear with it?

Since it has come to this, he decided to be ruthless and pull the Spiritual Mountain up by the roots, denying the legitimacy of the Buddhas there.

Let them make trouble, let them scream. When they are no longer Buddhas and have all become demons, let’s see how they can continue to cause more trouble and scream."

That’s right, Jiang Chen had a brilliant idea just now. He intended to take advantage of this once-in-a-millennium opportunity when The Great Thunderclap Temple was destroyed, and do something big.

He planned to establish a new branch of Buddhism outside of the Spiritual Mountain and rebuild The Great Thunderclap Temple. Consider the Buddhas in the Spiritual Mountain as demons and see the Spiritual Mountain as a demon cave."

The Spiritual Mountain is consisted of demons and the Buddhas are in the demon cave, how is that possible?

Of course, it is possible. The evidence is all present. The destruction of The Great Thunderclap Temple is true, the Buddhas are in bloodshed and the Bodhisattvas are injured, all of these are true."

As long as he can make the living beings believe that the Buddhas of the Spiritual Mountain have already died, and the current Buddhas are all disguised demons, Jiang Chen will successfully switch the sky and earth, and establish a new Buddhism."

ps: After writing it confusedly for half a day, I finally sorted out the plot.
