Chapter 61: Decision

Chapter 61: Decision

This whole thing was something Chris wouldn’t have taken too seriously, even though it was a serious issue that someone was stalking him and also had pictures of him with Rachel. However, his room was already filled before he knew it.

Noel, Sky, and Collins were already in his room that morning. It was just a few minutes past 8, which meant it had been less than an hour since the mail came in. In fact, the dorm was still quiet since most of the residents were still asleep, but Sky’s friends had shown up.

Talk about friendship.

"Wait a minute! So someone is stalking Chris because of Sato? Or stalking Sato and Chris just happened to show up too frequently, and then they started stalking Chris and also included Rachel?" Henry asked in confusion as he looked up from the photos to look at Chris and then at Sky.

Chris sat on his bed while Sky sat on Chris’s reading table. Collins found his way to Sky’s reading desk as usual, leaving the other two friends in Sky’s naked bed. Sky had taken out his bedsheets as soon as they showed up and was about to dive into his bed.

"This isn’t supposed to be complicated, but your narration is making it very complicated, so shut the fuck up!" Noel told Henry before he snatched the photos from him to look at them closely.

"Have you noticed any strange people since you arrived? Anyone you think may have sent it?" Noel looked up at Chris, asking.

"I don’t think I can think of anyone. I haven’t exactly been paying attention because I didn’t think a stalker would be following me because I am close to their beloved man."

"You sound pissed," Sky noted, turning to him.

"Shouldn’t I be? This is fucked up." He said it in a frustrated tone. Whoever the stupid person was, they succeeded in making him have the worst morning ever.

He would have still been cuddling with Sky by now, sleeping soundly and not minding anything. But instead, he was here with so many people and couldn’t get proper sleep.

"What about you? Have you noticed any strange people around you?" Henry asked Sky, who was about to shake his head that he hadn’t, but he pondered the question for a minute and looked at his friends with a sheepish smile. "I think... I meet more strange people than normal people every day."

As annoyed as Chris was, he could not help the laugh that escaped his lips. With so many people lusting after him, it only made sense that he wouldn’t have met many normal people.

"Report it to the police," Collins said as he lifted his head from the book he was reading, even during an important conversation like this!

They all looked at him.

Collins looked back at them, and from his look, it was obvious he was wondering why they were looking at him like he had said something wrong.

"There is nothing we can do about this. We cannot start looking for and interrogating every strange person we find. We can either report it to the police or—"

"Are you insane? Is the police going to do anything about it?" Henry interrupted him from finishing his statement.

"Don’t you even care about Sato’s reputation? People are going to talk if they find out. And people are going to make weird assumptions." Noel added.

"What kind of weird assumptions?" Collins asked.

"Aren’t you supposed to be smart? Think about it... someone is threatening Chris to stay away from Sato. Many people are going to assume it’s because something is going on between the two of them." Noel lectured him. "Do you know the kind of problem that is going to cause? Let’s not even mention his parents hearing about this."

"Oh! That’s true!" Henry exclaimed.

"What about his parents?" Chris asked curiously.

"My mother is pretty chill. But... Pops doesn’t quite like... same-sex stuff." Sky explained it to him hesitantly.

"You need to see the way he always glares at me. If looks could kill, I’d have died since that day he found me hugging a boy five years ago." Henry said and shivered as he reminisced about that moment.

Oh no!

"So... your father is homophobic?" Chris asked, trying not to let his disappointment sound.

"Aren’t all fathers? Mine is, too. And so is Noel’s." Henry answered.

"Mine isn’t," Collins added quietly with a shrug.

Noel nodded in agreement. "Yeah. His dad is the cool dad."

Chris didn’t say anything else and just kept his lips sealed. Sky’s father was homophobic. That was a big deal.

"Look, Chris, I’m really sorry that this is happening, and I wish I could take drastic action against this to assure you, but it... it would be bad for me if this came out." Sky said to him in an apologetic tone.

Chris turned to look at him.

"It will ruin your reputation." He put what Sky had just said into a summary.

The truth was, he didn’t care about any of this. He doesn’t even care about this meeting right now. But knowing Sky had a homophobic parent and remembering that Sky was the type to care a lot about his reputation was enough to bring him to his senses and let him know that no matter how much he pined for this guy, it was all just wishful thinking.

Those were simple facts that he should never forget.

"What’s with the mood?" Henry asked, looking around.

"We can start quietly," Collins suggested, bringing their attention back to him.

"We don’t know whether it’s a boy or girl. We don’t even know what the person wants with Sato. Let’s try to see if we can find the person who sent it to the dorm and start from there."

That was probably the longest speech Chris has heard from Collins.

What Collins said did make sense, but Noel raised the envelope the contents had come in and waved the back and front of it.

"There are no addresses on the envelope. There are also no details about any courier services. So how do we do that?"

They all sighed heavily, and silence filled the room until Henry quietly suggested, "Maybe it’s best for you to stop coming here again for a while?"

"What?" Sky looked at him like he had lost his mind.

"That is not even an option. This is my room!" He spoke in a serious tone.

"You have a thousand other places you can stay. Chris just came here. He hasn’t even gone a quarter into the semester. We don’t know what the stalker might do to him. We need to be careful." Collins explained.

Once again, that was a really long speech, and Chris found it a little awkward even though they were dealing with something serious right now. Sky had to stay away.

Did he want that?

"That is why I do not need to leave," Sky answered Collins. "What if someone attacks him when he is alone?"

"Seriously? Are we talking about the same Chris? Can you just take a look at him and tell me if he is beatable?" Noel asked Chris, slightly amused.

"If you are away from him, I don’t see why he would be attacked," Henry said reasonably.

"Okay! It’s enough." Chris said, standing up at once.

"I appreciate what you are doing right now, but I am exhausted, so I am just going to go shower and visit the library."

Library? Since when was he that studious to visit the library on a Sunday?

He wanted to get away from here.

"You are pissed," Sky noted quietly.

Chris turned to look at him. "I’m only frustrated. But not at you. You can decide whatever you wish. I really don’t care." He stood up and went to his wardrobe to get some of his things; his mood had dampened a lot, and the day was only just starting.

He wasn’t mad at Sky. He couldn’t. In fact, he didn’t want to waste his energy being mad at him when he knew he would forget about it and forgive him when Sky said a simple sorry to him or just smiled at him.

He was mad at himself. Because once again, it seemed like what he had run away from was going to happen to him.

Wilson was so right.

He took his things with him, ignoring the friends who were all staring at him as he left the room.

"He scares me sometimes." He heard Henry talk to his friends about him.

As he dejectedly went to the bathroom, thankful for the empty hallway at least, Sky suddenly showed up and stood in front of him.

"I’ll be gone for a while. But I will text you." Sky said. He didn’t look happy about this decision either.

"You do not need to. Text me, I mean. You do not need to do that." Chris said it in a nonchalant tone.

"I won’t be comfortable if I’m not sure about how you’re faring. I will text you. Reply to my messages even if you are busy. I don’t want to get anxious."

"Whatever," Chris said in an exhausted tone. He didn’t have the strength to argue.

He was about to walk past him when Sky blocked his path again.

"What?!" He snapped.

"I’ll find the person, no matter what," Sky promised.

"I told you I don’t—"

He shut his mouth immediately when Sky hugged him briefly and released him almost immediately, then he turned and walked away without looking back.

"Asshole," Chris muttered sadly as he watched him leave.
