Chapter 64: Hm, this seems serious
General POV
"What did you say to Hyung?" Seojin asked and Seojun lifted his gaze from his phone. He frowned and threw his face aside. "Don’t give me that attitude. Hyung’s been avoiding us, and it definitely has something to do with you."
After the day Seojun made things clear with Dongwoo in the restroom, Dongwoo started avoiding them. There was too much evidence to ignore the fact.
It started when he let Taiha take the entire day’s photography lead. At first, they thought it might’ve been because he was tired since he fainted the previous day
But the next day, he started giving them attitude. He didn’t let them finish what they were saying before making an excuse to leave, he didn’t ask them what they thought about their pictures and asked Taiha instead.
If he saw them coming from the right, he’d turn and head for the left.
It was a clear sign that he was avoiding them.
They tried texting, but he gave simple replies like,
"I’m fine."
"Good morning to you too."
"Have a great day."
Lame replies like that got on their nerves but they couldn’t exactly force his hands or type something nicer.
They thought maybe he just wasn’t feeling well and was worried, but then they found him talking and laughing in the cafeteria with the other crew members.
So he was definitely avoiding them. Yet, he still accepted the lunchboxes they sent every single day. His actions were so confusing.
"I’m pissed off as much as you are." Seojun said.
"Well, getting pissed off won’t solve the issue here, will it?" Seojin asked, sitting next to him and folding his arms. "It’s been so long since I talked to Hyung or even kissed him. It’s driving me insane."
Seojun was silent. He recalled their conversation at the restroom and sighed.
"I didn’t say anything I haven’t said before." He spoke up and Seojin looked at him. "But I believe it’s the first time he’s actually taking my words seriously."
"Did you confess your feelings again?" Seojin asked and Seojun nodded. "Ugh, it’s not like it’s the first time. What else did you say?"
Seojun went silent again, darting his eyes aside as he thought back to the exact contents of his words.
"Just some stuff." He said and that got Seojin annoyed. He wanted to hear the details not ’some stuff’.
"Matteo," he called, trying to smile.
"Ugh, get that creepy smile away from me. Why are you even bothering when there’s no one here but me? Lose the act." Seojun said and Seojin’s eyes went glazed, looking like they held absolutely no interest in the word and would die from boredom.
"You’re right. I don’t need to put in an effort to get my brother to spill the beans." He said, resting his back on the couch. "So, just spill it while I’m asking nicely."
"This punk." Seojun exclaimed but ended up letting it go. He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. "The words I said don’t matter. What matters is that Hyung doesn’t want to accept our feelings. He was already taking our words as a joke to begin with. So after I told him ’that’ he looked like he had seen the other side of the world."
"Did you make him cry?" Seojin asked, causing Seojin to react badly.
"The fuck... Why would I?" He looked angry. "That’s the last thing I want to do."
"He looked like he cried." Seojin said, with his hand over his mouth in a thinking stance. "His eyes were red."
"Really?" Seojun asked, shocked. "Jeez, was that something to cry about? I only told him to stop denying our feelings for him and think about it.
Seojin thought about it for a while and suddenly cackled.
"Haha, don’t deny it."
"What? What are you talking about?"
Seojin grinned, pushing his head back on the couch while staring at his brother mischievously.
"You said it was the last thing you want to do." He said and Seojun realized what he was getting at. His face slowly contorted in excitement but he kept it under wraps.
"You’re crazy. I thought we were talking about how the reason Hyung’s avoiding us. Why would you think in ’that’ direction?" He asked but it was clear that the thought of ’it’ made him excited. "Fuck! Why’d you have to bring that up? Now, I can’t stop thinking about it."
"Come on, shouldn’t that motivate you to use your head a bit more?" Seojin said. "Hyung’s happiness is our happiness and there are a billion ways to make him happy. One of them, we have accomplished. So, on to the next... " His eyes brimmed with mischief as he said, "We’re this close to accomplishing it. We need to work hard and make Hyung ours, brother."
"You don’t have to tell me twice." Seojun said, gritting his teeth.
"Hm, this seems serious. Do you need to use the bathroom? I’ll wait here for you and we can discuss our plans."
"Shut up." Seojun said, getting up from the couch and heading straight for his room.
"Remember," Seojin yelled as he left. "Our sweet lovable Hyung is right next door." He grinned. "So use that to your favor."
"I said shut up." He slammed his door shut and Seojin laughed.
"My, he should use that strength he gets from working out every morning for something useful." He muttered. "He’s going to break the door at this rate."
Seojin looked away from Seojun’s door and towards the front door. How he wished Dongwoo Hyung could just walk in through that door and embrace him.
He wanted to see him. He wanted to embrace and kiss him.
As he said, Dongwoo was just next door, so nothing was stopping him from going to knock on his door, but what is the probability that Dongwoo would open the door?
He might check the intercom and, after seeing him, pretend he wasn’t home, or he could just make an excuse that he was busy and couldn’t see him.
Since he was avoiding them, it wouldn’t be difficult for him to do so.
"Why are you pushing us away so much, Hyung?" Seojin asked and his lips curled up. "It makes us want you even more. Oh, sweet sweet Lorento. When will you see all the effort we put into being with you?"
Seojin felt melancholic and at the same time desperate.
He was being patient. Really patient.
From the moment he set his eyes on Dongwoo, at the peach blossom field, after many years of separation, he wanted nothing but him. He didn’t know how Seojun felt about it but through the connection they shared and with the ’agreement’ they made before coming to Korea, he was sure that Seojun was as desperate as him in wanting to be with Dongwoo.
Now, they just had to crack whatever wall Dongwoo had built between them and the next plan would definitely be accomplished.
"Struggle all you want, Hyung. You’re not getting rid of us that easily."
