Chapter 60: That ’crap’ is what we’ve been using...
Dongwoo’s POV
The fried chicken delivery man coincidentally arrived at the same time as Seojin and I. Lucky.
Seojin said he’d be fine without the fried chicken and asked me to enjoy it. Though I wasn’t comfortable with the idea because he hadn’t had dinner yet he assured me that he would cook up something before going to bed.
"Well, if you say so." I said and went into my apartment.
The fried chicken was so delicious that I almost felt bad for not sharing it with Seojin but since he insisted, I couldn’t force him.
I dove into bed, well-fed and refreshed from a hot bath. I had the blood tonic and was ready to sleep.
"Today was... Eventful." I repeated the words I said the previous night.
It was like every day of my life was becoming more and more vibrant. I had wished for a quiet and peaceful life but this wasn’t so bad.
This was... Comfortable.
The next morning, just as I was about to step outside my apartment and head to work, I found the twins standing in front of my door. They looked like they had been waiting for me to come out for ages.
"There you are." Seojun said and suddenly hugged me. "This energy is what we need so early in the morning."
Seojin didn’t seem to like that he was one step behind and pulled Seojun off me before taking his place.
"Yes, this is the best." He said.
"Ah... You... What are you doing here?" I asked, finally finding the words that refused to come out after getting a surprise hug. "Shouldn’t you get to work? It’s..." I checked my watch but Seojin covered my hand and lowered it.
"We know what the time is. And we’re here to take you to work, Hyung." He said. "It’s the least we could do."
"Oh, uh..." I darted my eyes aside. I felt confused.
They were offering to take me to work, not a big deal but... We had never gone together before so it felt awkward. They have a car and all and it would feel comfortable, compared to waiting for a taxi or taking the bus so early in the morning.
It shouldn’t be a bad idea, right?’
"Alright." I said. "Let’s go together."
I didn’t notice it before but the twins actually had their own private car. And it was a Tesla at that. A Tesla!
Did the company really provide all these? I was starting to get suspicious.
"Do you like the car, Hyung?" Seojun asked, looking rather excited.
"Uh, yes. It’s very pretty." I said but soon felt awkward. I didn’t know if pretty was the right word to use when describing a car.
"It is, isn’t it?"
He looked really excited. But why did it look different from the car we used the previous night?
"Hyung, he’s just trying to show off because he’s the one that bought it." Seojin said.
"Hey, it’s way better than the crap you got yourself."
"That ’crap’ is what we’ve been using to go to and fro because yours attracts too much attention. I find it comfortable to go around using a ’modest’ car." Seojin said. "What’s the use of driving an expensive car when you won’t be carrying Hyung in it all the time?"
"Says who?" Seojun narrowed his eyes. "Hyung, you’ll come with me in my car, right?"
He turned around to find me way behind them. Ah, yes. They lost me at the point where Seojin said Seojun just wanted to show off his car.
Um, yes, where was I?
Okay. Were they trying to tell me that they could afford a freaking Tesla with their pocket money? And not even the money they would get from their salary as models, but their pocket money, the one they brought along when coming from Italy.
Or was there another transaction between them and the company that I had no idea about?
Did the company give them money to get themselves rides like these?
I was lost.
"What’s wrong, Hyung?" They asked and in my mind, I held out.
’Everything.’
"Are you feeling faint today as well?" Seojun asked but I shook my head.
"No, it’s not that." I said. "I’m just shocked, honestly." I shook my head again. "I want to ask but I don’t want to know too much and become a liability. But just to be sure, is the company treating you well?"
"What do you think, Hyung?" They looked at me with smiles and I sighed.
I was imagining things again.
First off, the place they lived in before coming to Korea was huge and fancy so I should probably expect that their mother was some sort of big shot. Maybe a businesswoman. And it looked like she gave them millions as monthly allowance regularly. Ugh, the rich life.
No wonder they didn’t bat an eye to pay for my suit. They had enough money to burn, these kids.
But I wondered, was she okay with her sons being models when they could take up the company’s business?
I hoped there was no trouble.
"Hyung, what would you like to drink?" Seojin asked as he stopped the car in front of a driveway coffee stand.
He had already made his orders and I was so lost in thoughts that I forgot to tell him what I wanted.
But the moment I opened my mouth to answer,
"Bubble tea."
It was already presented before me. He smiled and said,
"It’s the same one you had when we first got here." He said and for some reason, my cheeks burned red.
"T-thank you." I said, looking away to avoid looking weird.
Both boys were sitting in the front seats while I sat in the back. And of course, we didn’t drive Seojun’s Tesla. We used Seojin’s ’modest’ car which happened to be a Benz.
Well, compared to Seojun’s Tesla, it was indeed modest.
"Hyung, we’ve arrived." Seojin announced but they didn’t give me the chance to open the door on my own and tried to give me ’special’ treatment.
Luckily, it was the underground garage, so no one would see us, but it made me uncomfortable knowing their actions would cause rumors to spread.
"Thank you, but next time, allow me to open the door on my own." I said. "My hands work perfectly fine."
"Sure thing, Hyung. Anything for you." Seojun said with his bright smile. He was being obedient this time, but who knew when he’d become stubborn again?
Well, the bright side of it was that they listened to me.
I recalled a funny and sensual stuff and darted my eyes aside.
Well, they listened to me most of the time.
