Chapter 59: Geumtae, please don’t insult Seojin

Seojun suddenly said he had something to take care of so while we headed out for dinner, he made a different turn.

"I hope he’ll be okay." I muttered while looking out the window, and I heard Seojin mutter.

"He’s a thug, of course he’ll be fine." He muttered under his breath. "You should be more concerned for the people he’s going out to meet." What did that mean? He was smiling like he knew something, but of course, he wouldn’t tell me anything of it.

"Seojin, why don’t we order fried chicken for dinner? I’m craving it." I said. "It also has properties that replenish blood, so I think it’s great for dinner."

"You’re right. Though I felt steak would’ve been better but it’s still a good idea. We can eat at a fancy restaurant when Matteo is here with us." He said and I nodded.

"Then, please take me to this address. I need to pick up Lily." As soon as I said this, I saw the change in his eyes. Yeah, they didn’t like Lily much. I knew that now.

I made the order in advance. Hopefully, it would get to the apartment by the time we got back.

"Is it here?" He asked, pulling over in front of the vet.

Coincidentally, Geumtae was just closing up his shop and he had Lily in her bag.

"I’ll be right back."

"I’ll go with you, Hyung. You just recovered." He said, attempting to take off his seatbelt.

Well, I didn’t stop him. Anything to grow him to worry less.

"Doc." I called and Geumtae turned to see me. His face glowed as soon as he did.

"Sweetie. I thought you wouldn’t make it." He said with a cheerful smile. "I was planning to make a special delivery and pile up your debt some more." He said, showing Lily in the bag.

"Hyung, you’re in debt?" Seojin asked and I turned with an awkward smile. "How much do you owe him?"

"Not that kind of debt. You don’t have to worry." I said, taking Lily from Geumtae. "He just likes using that term."

"Sweetie, a friend of yours? He looks familiar." He asked, and Seojin’s eyes narrowed.

"Sweetie?" He looked like he was scrutinizing Geumtae for calling me that. "Hyung, I’m not proficient with nicknames in Korea but I’m very sure ’sweetie’ is an intimate name used by a lover." He said and I gulped.

How was I going to explain this?

"Ah, you’re over exaggerating it." Geumtae said, taking his hand from his coat pocket to shake Seojin. "I go by the name Geumtae but if that’s too hard to pronounce, I have an English name called Mickey." He said.

"Kim Seojin." Seojin said, taking his hand out to shake Geumtae’s hand. "It seems you’ve been taking care of your Hyung’s cat. I guess I’ll be in your care as well, Geumtae."

"Why? Are you perhaps a mutt that follows its owner around without knowing its place? Well, I could train you, if you want." He smirked.

Geumtae’s words were harsh and offensive but he would need something stronger than that if he wanted to get a rise out of Seojin.

The most he could get out of this ’mutt’ was a tightened handshake.

"Haha, it seems this ’hyung’ trained his mutt pretty well. He’s so strong."

"Enough, please." I said after a moment of watching their childish act.

Seriously, what was wrong with everyone today?

"Thank you, Geumtae for taking care of Lily till this late." I said, bowing my head. "Seojin can be a bit childish so thank you for putting up with it as well."

"Not at all, sweetie." He winked. "The feisty the mutt, the more eager I am to train them."

"Unfortunately, you’re not going to be training any mutt." Seojin said, still keeping his ’friendly’ smile up. "I hate to break it to you but you’ll have to look someplace else. Why don’t I recommend you to a place? It’s far, far away, but I guarantee you, you’ll find many such animals that are to your liking."

I didn’t like where this was going. It was already too much that Geumtae called Seojin a mutt.

"Geumtae, please don’t insult Seojin." I said. "He’s not a mutt."

"Oh? Are you sure? I see dog ears and a tail though. And a paw that just wants his master’s hand. It’s like a golden retriever."

"Whoa, you see it too?" I asked, surprised. But then snapped out of it and cleared my throat. "Ahem. Again, Seojin’s not a mutt. He’s a godly character. I mean, a human being."

Ah, I think I was too excited there.

"Anyway, we’ll be off."

"I placed the supplements you said you ran out of in Lily’s bag, sweetie." He said. "You can thank me later."

He waved as we left but Seojin turned his head to glance at Geumtae. He gave him a victorious grin, like he had won and placed his arms around my shoulder.

Geumtae shook his head.

"Hah, my sweetie has one troublesome leech around his neck. How do I get rid of leeches again?" He muttered to himself, while making his way towards the other direction after making sure he closed his shop well. "Would insecticide suffice?" He kept muttering to himself with a little amused smile.

"Hah, how did you get involved with such a person, Hyung?" Seojin asked after getting into the car. He rested his head in the steering wheel and looked at me with pitiful eyes. "Now, I have to worry about the people you meet."

"What’s wrong with Geumtae?" I asked but he didn’t say anything further. He reached out to brush my hair softly, trailing his fingers along my earlobe and down my neck.

I gulped. It was like electric bolts coursing through my body.

He gazed into my eyes as if trying to convey a message but I couldn’t get what it was. His green eyes sparkled but I couldn’t get what he was trying to say.

"What is it?" I asked but he took back his hand and turned on the engine.

"Let’s go. The fried chicken should be at the apartment by now."

Hm. Whatever it was, I hoped it was not something to worry about.

General POV

In a back alley, where thugs usually gather, Seojun sat in front of a body heep. They were all beaten to a pulp and put together to form what looked like a hill.

Seojun took out the last cigarette from the pack in his pocket and lit it up with a lighter.

"Fuck, I’m all out of cigarettes." He cussed out.

On top of the body heep were several burned out cigarette butts which happened to have been smoked by him.

He was irritated.

"I only planned to throw a few punches since I got better with Hyung’s ’whip and carrot’ treatment but then you brutes got on my nerves and stained my face with your dirty blood. You have yourself to blame."

Yeah, sitting on top of that body heep was Seojun who looked perfectly clean even after gruesomely beating up so many guys. The only stain he had was the little splatter of blood on his face.

"Tch. You guys dared to stain the face Hyung likes so much. You should be lucky you’re not dead." He got down, took a puff from his cigarette and let it out.

His eyes glowed in the dark, reflecting the darkness of his soul.

"Now, should we head back? I’m feeling so much better now."

He threw the cigarette away, dusted his shoulders and smelled his breath.

"I’ll have to brush my teeth so that I can kiss Hyung goodnight. Will I even see him before I go to bed? I hope so. I miss him already." He was talking to himself and minding his own business, when one of the thugs, who had a deathwish, grabbed onto his leg.

"You... Bastard." He dared to say.

Seojin looked away, darting his eyes aside as his veins crawled up his neck.

"Someone wants to die." He said and kicked him, stepping on his chest till he was barely breathing. "Fuck, I’ll have to throw these pants away." He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed. "I feel much better."

That area didn’t have any cameras so Seojun used it as a perfect place to blow off some steam. Yeah, it was the perfect place to carry out his dubious acts without letting his beloved Hyung know about it.
