Chapter 613: Chapter 612: Messenger of Heaven
Apart from Jerome Hart and others, surprisingly, there were also more than a dozen people who wanted to follow them in. Among these people, there should be members of Dragon Group, but the vast majority were from other sects who had rushed over after receiving the message.
There were many Dragon Gate Orders, and many people wanted to go to Dragon Gate. Now that it had opened, what reason was there not to go?
Jerome Hart and his team wore chest-mounted monitoring devices, which had all been calibrated. It was said that these devices could transmit clear images back even from outer space.
Yusuf Zuck did not leave but entered another tent with Devin King and the others, where various instruments were set up, displaying clear, synchronized images.
As Jerome Hart and the others started to enter, the cameras on their chests allowed everyone to see the full picture inside the fissure within the mountainside. Ten meters deep into that fissure lay the gate emanating white light. The white light was so bright that nothing could be seen clearly through the camera.
"They’re in." Jerome Hart was the first. With one step, he crossed the threshold into that gate.
"Whoo—shh shh shh—" A flurry of static. At the very moment Jerome Hart entered, the camera went haywire, and all that could be seen was static—both sound and images were gone.
Faye Webb followed right behind him, and then she too lost signal simultaneously!
As others entered one after another, all the cameras turned to static!
"We can’t receive any signals. There’s a strong magnetic interference; our equipment has malfunctioned!" a scientific researcher murmured softly as they calibrated the instruments.
"Whoo—" Devin King and the group of generals all took a deep breath, while Yusuf Zuck strode out of the tent and stood in front of the fissure.
His fists were clenched tightly because after Jerome Hart and his team took that step forward, their fates became unknown.
"Boss King, I have a request!" Yusuf Zuck remained standing in place, but Devin King came up behind him.
"Speak. Anything I can agree to, I will," said Devin King, who was genuinely intimidated by Yusuf Zuck. After all, Yusuf Zuck was stronger than their team leader, making him a valuable asset for the future.
Yusuf Zuck turned around and said, "Could you have someone report the situation here to me once a day? I need to know the latest developments."
"That’s no problem. I’ll have Xiao Huang contact you directly," Devin King agreed readily.
"Good, thanks. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way." Yusuf Zuck sighed softly in his heart. He couldn’t help Jerome Hart and the others, so rather than brooding here, it was better to leave early.
"There are two things I’ve been wanting to talk to you about," Devin King suddenly said, following Yusuf Zuck outside.
"Go ahead."
"The first matter concerns Heaven," Devin King pondered and then said, "Now that our team leader isn’t here, Heaven has been causing trouble frequently. Moreover, our intelligence indicates that several of Heaven’s elders, with a group of experts, have come to Chongqing. Their target is Dragon Gate."
"Just get to the point, don’t beat around the bush," Yusuf Zuck replied, impatiently.
"I’m hoping you can help us since Heaven is also your enemy. Felicity and Whitley Ortiz are also here, and they might be in danger when the time comes."
"What’s the second matter?" Yusuf Zuck asked indifferently.
"Please tell me what happened to the team leader, what exactly happened that day?" Devin King pleaded.
"That day..." Yusuf Zuck recalled, "I was killing people in the valley. Your team leader promised to blast open the Dragon Gate Passage, so she led six of my demolitionists, carrying explosives, into it. But by the time I entered, the passage had already exploded. I was blown out by the blast wave, and neither Chad Lopez nor those six were anywhere to be seen!"
"I don’t know if she’s alive or dead."
"What? Are you serious?" Devin King’s face turned pale in an instant.
"Why would I lie to you?"
"How could the team leader agree to blowing up the Dragon Gate Passage? That’s impossible," Devin King kept shaking his head in disbelief.
"Do you even know who she is? Do you know if she’s male or female? Have you ever seen her face? Do you know what she’s thinking?" Yusuf Zuck fired question after question.
"Isn’t the team leader a man? But indeed, I’ve never seen what she looks like," Devin King said with a bitter smile, shaking his head.
"I’ve seen her, she’s someone who will take you by surprise, someone you can’t accept!" Yusuf Zuck said with a laugh.
"Even if she is a woman, I can accept that. There’s nothing I can’t accept!" Devin King said with a curl of his lip.
Yusuf Zuck remained noncommittal. If he told Devin King that their team leader was a female fox spirit, would Devin King be able to accept it?
"Yusuf Zuck, now our Dragon Group is without a leader, I’m really worried about national security. Join us, I can recommend you as the team leader too," Devin King said.
"You should still recommend Master Huang; Master Huang is qualified!" Yusuf Zuck shook his head.
"Master Huang can’t be found," Devin King said, shaking his head with a bitter smile.
"Right, help me look into the whereabouts of Tyler Nash and that Yin-Yang Sect Hierarch Ty Meskill. Then I’ll stay in Chongqing and help you kill people, how about that!" Yusuf Zuck proposed.
"Deal!" Devin King agreed readily.
"Devin, there’s a situation!" While Yusuf Zuck and Devin King were talking, Whitley Ortiz suddenly came running over.
"What’s the matter?" Devin King asked anxiously.
"It’s about the situation outside. A self-proclaimed envoy from Heaven named Scott Escobar has arrived, asking to meet with you," Whitley Ortiz whispered.
"A Heavenly envoy? An envoy? What right do they have to send an envoy? That’s the biggest joke!" Devin King was extremely annoyed. A minor private organization, and not even from abroad, so why send an envoy?
"To see or not to see?" Whitley Ortiz reminded.
"See him, I want to see what tricks they’re playing!" Devin King said through gritted teeth.
"Okay." Whitley Ortiz immediately took out the walkie-talkie to notify the guards to let the person come in.
Yusuf Zuck laughed at that moment and said, "I’ve met this person. He was the one who kidnapped my people abroad and then asked me to treat their Three Elders. However, he shouldn’t recognize me; I was wearing a black robe at the time!"
"Do you think your identity as the Angel is still some kind of secret? Let me tell you, if someone wanted to investigate, they would have found out it’s you by now. But since you killed all those from Dragon Gate last year, you caused a sensation, and that’s why you’ve been safe this past year, with no one coming after you," Devin King revealed.
"Oh? Is that so?" Yusuf Zuck laughed. After he finished off the members of Dragon Gate last year, he let go of those he was supposed to take as disciples. Among them, although there were women and children, there were also some with exceptional talent in internal martial arts. So when these people returned home and spread the word, it was only normal for others to learn of his killings.
Moreover, the intelligence organizations in the United States were not slacking off, and neither were the intelligence organizations of Dragon Gate. Thus, after so much time, if they hadn’t found even a trace of a lead, it would be a terrible waste of their resources.
"Then I shall disappear. I’ll use Invisible, hehe," Yusuf Zuck said with a laugh as his body vanished from sight.
About ten minutes later, Scott Escobar arrived, dressed in a suit and carrying a small backpack. He came alone and was led into the tent.
Inside the tent at the moment, only Devin King and a young general were present, with Whitley Ortiz taking notes. The other personnel had dispersed, fearing a sudden attack from Dragon Gate!
"Team Leader Devin, how do you do, how do you do, my name is Scott Escobar, a Heavenly envoy. I have been sent by the elders of our Heaven to negotiate with you. This is our national letter, and this is the seal of my Angel status, please have a look," Scott Escobar said seriously, pulling out a red book from his bag, where the traditional characters for ’national letter’ were written, accompanied by a golden seal, making it look like something from an ancient dynasty!
"Are you really taking yourselves too seriously?" Devin King didn’t even bother glancing at the national letter: "If you have something to say, just say it, no need for nonsense."
"Okay, then I’ll get straight to the point!" Scott Escobar maintained his composure with a smile: "There’s just one thing. One hundred and eighty-two members of our Heaven want to enter the Dragon Gate Passage."
"Of course, we have come with sincerity." Scott Escobar suddenly let out a bitter smile: "Your government always thinks our Heaven is causing trouble. So, we will no longer cause trouble. We will all move on to the Dragon Gate World, and then you won’t have to worry about us anymore!"
"Also, if you allow us passage, we will reveal all our hidden agents, safehouses, contact points, and so on. In addition, we have some dealings with the Islamic State and have a grasp on their intelligence, which we can offer as part of our bargaining terms."
"One last thing, please Mr. Yusuf Zuck, the Angel, do not take action against us. Mr. Angel, I know you are here, and out of respect for you, our Heaven will show the utmost sincerity. At that time, we will offer a series of resources, wealth, and even our personnel, free of charge to Mr. Angel."
"And for us, we truly have only one goal: to leave this place and establish our Heaven in the Dragon Gate World."
