Ember Vance’s amnesia dealt a heavy blow to Yusuf Zuck. Even though they were two close lovers, the awakened her didn’t recognize him at all.

He saw the confusion and distress in her eyes and really couldn’t bear to upset her further, so Yusuf Zuck left, departing amid the Vance Family’s watchful eyes, feeling a mix of emotions.

Following him were Rachel Fournier and Sophia.

Both women could tell Yusuf Zuck was in a very bad mood, so even after getting into the car, neither of them spoke a word.

"Brother Zuck, there’s a saying that true love doesn’t mean being inseparable, it means being separated and nothing changes. Ember will regain her memory eventually," finally, Sophia couldn’t help but speak up.

Upon hearing her words, Rachel Fournier immediately covered her mouth, and Yusuf Zuck, who had been driving listlessly, was suddenly amused by her statement; the girl could actually say something like that, which genuinely surprised him.

"I know, don’t worry about me. I just feel a bit unwilling to accept this. But you’re right, there’s plenty of time ahead. Even if she can’t retrieve her past memories, what’s wrong with wooing her all over again? What’s mine will always be mine, and no one can take that away," he said.

"Exactly, that’s the right spirit! Whoever tries to compete with you, I’ll help you take them down!" Sophia said, applauding loudly.

"Haha." Yusuf Zuck laughed heartily, his mood seeming to lift considerably.

Maybe within a few days, Ember might recover the memories she had lost on her own, so there was no need to rush.

After dropping the two women back at the villa, Yusuf Zuck drove to Ruth Wilcox’s villa, for he had said he would return later, so he was going to return that evening.

Ruth Wilcox hadn’t gone to bed. It seemed as if she’d perked up after a short nap; when Yusuf Zuck arrived, she was in the living room reading an economics book.

"How is everything?" Seeing Yusuf Zuck enter the house, Ruth Wilcox immediately put down the book and helped him take off his coat.

"She has amnesia," Yusuf Zuck said indifferently: "She doesn’t recognize me!"

"Ah..." At Yusuf Zuck’s words, Ruth Wilcox opened her mouth in disbelief.

"Really?" After a while, she finally asked.

"Yes, I saw utter unfamiliarity in her eyes. The doctor said she lost her memories from the time she started working onward, because she doesn’t remember any of her coworkers. But she remembers her old classmates, and her parents and relatives. She just doesn’t remember what has happened in these last few years," he explained.

"Sigh~" Ruth Wilcox took a deep breath. There were many cases of such temporary amnesia; some people never recovered those memories, while others could regain them with the right kind of trigger.

But who knows if that policewoman could recover the memories she lost these past few years?

Ruth Wilcox actually hoped she wouldn’t regain them, because without them, everything would be forgotten, and slowly, Yusuf Zuck would move on.

That would be good for Yusuf Zuck, the policewoman, and even for herself, the best possible outcome.

Of course, she wouldn’t suggest anything; everything had to be decided by Yusuf Zuck himself.

"I plan to book a flight to Sanya tomorrow night, so handle everything with the hotel during the day and we’ll leave in the evening. The New Year is just a few days away; it’s time for a break."

"So soon?" Ruth Wilcox asked, taken aback.

"Yes, the sooner we leave, the sooner we can rest. If you can’t sleep, go upstairs now and start packing. Tomorrow we’ll head straight there from the hotel!"

"Oh," Ruth Wilcox murmured, then gave Yusuf Zuck a strange look: "Is it really okay for me to meet your father?"

"What’s wrong with that?" Yusuf Zuck laughed: "Sara will be back by then too; it’s been a long time since you last saw her."

"Oh, then what does your father like? What should I buy for him tomorrow?" Ruth Wilcox knew that if Yusuf Zuck was going to Sanya, she would be the only one left in the capital. It was going to be a lonely New Year, and Yusuf Zuck wouldn’t allow her to spend it alone, so the best option was to go with him to Sanya.

"He just loves gambling and drinking. Just get a few bottles of good alcohol; he’s a man who lives for his liquor."

"Okay." Ruth Wilcox nodded. It was no big deal if a man liked to drink; when the time came, she would just pick out some fine liquor to bring over.

"Oh, there’s another thing." Yusuf Zuck suddenly remembered that Rachel Fournier and Sophia were also going to join them, so he couldn’t wait until they met tomorrow to mention it; he needed to give a heads-up beforehand.

"Besides the two of us, there will be two other women coming along tomorrow."

"What?" Ruth Wilcox jumped to her feet. She thought it would just be her and Yusuf, but now he was bringing along two other women?

Her chest heaved with anger, and her face was filled with disappointment as she looked at Yusuf.

"Don’t be hasty, listen to me first, those women aren’t my lovers. Why won’t you let me speak!" Yusuf saw Ruth’s anger and quickly explained: "One of them is a disciple from Emei, orphaned, and the other is the granddaughter of a Miao medicine practitioner, also without a home. I brought both of them out from deep in the mountains. They’re not normal people, they practice Qigong, and they have no romantic relationship with me."

"Practice Qigong? They know Qigong?" Ruth was taken aback and asked.

"Yeah, one can do Qigong, fly over the rooftops; she can jump back and forth atop tree tips and not fall. The other one practices witchcraft; Ember Vance was saved by her. She has a Big Golden Cicada in her belly, and her whole body is poisonous. I met them in Guizhou last time I went and then secretly decided to keep them in the capital!"

"Of course, my ulterior motives weren’t romantic. These two are pretty formidable, and I’m planning on having one of them protect you."

"Really?" Ruth’s voice softened.

"You’ll see for yourself when you meet them tomorrow," Yusuf said helplessly.

"Then I’ve wronged you." Ruth said apologetically, "But, how come they listen to you?"

"Because I’m stronger than them."

"Blowing your own trumpet. I’m not talking to you, going upstairs to pack my things." Ruth turned away, her face blushed for a moment, and then she ran upstairs with a clatter.

She had overreacted just now, but it wasn’t what she had thought.

Watching Ruth blush and head upstairs, Yusuf couldn’t help but chuckle. The more she overreacted, the more it showed she truly cared about him. If she hadn’t reacted, it would have meant their relationship had reached its limit.

A moment later, he called the Petty Family patriarch to tell him that he was leaving the capital and informed him that their previous plan could now be put into action.

Indeed, a few days ago, he had discussed a preliminary plan with the Petty Family and its three sons. Of course, the plan targeted not only the Meskill Family but also the Nash family.

The Petty Family patriarch happily agreed and told him to stay safe.

After hanging up with the Petty Family patriarch, Yusuf immediately called Marlon Shepherd.

"Calling so late at night, what’s the matter?" Marlon Shepherd sounded a bit tired on the phone; after all, he was newly married - how could he not be tired?

Hotel living didn’t feel like home, and since the patriarch liked Sanya, why not buy a property there?
