Chapter 424 - 423: Tit for Tat
Chapter 424: Chapter 423: Tit for Tat
"Do you think we would reveal his whereabouts?" Everest Zuck glared fiercely at Donald Meskill, realizing at this moment that those of little significance have no power to decide their own fate.
"Indeed, you wouldn’t betray a friend. It seems you have a close relationship!" Donald Meskill let out a sinister laugh, then said indifferently, "Go back in and take their cell phones."
"Swoosh swoosh swoosh—" This time only three or four people went in, and they quickly brought out four cell phones.
The reason there were four was that Everest Zuck himself had two.
Everest Zuck and Faye Webb, as well as Jerome Hart, who was spitting blood, all knew what Donald Meskill was about to do, but they were powerless to stop it.
When Donald Meskill flipped to the second cell phone, he smiled, then dialed the number stored in it, gently lifting it to his ear.
At this moment, Yusuf Zuck was resting in the guest room. He wasn’t sleeping, but looking out the window, as he had an intuition that the Meskill family would certainly come to kill him.
The phone started ringing, both vibrating and chiming, which was especially jarring in the quiet of the night.
Yusuf Zuck immediately picked up the phone—it was Jerome Hart’s number.
"Jerome, what’s up?" He answered right away.
"Looks like I got the right person!" Donald Meskill’s voice emerged from the other end, speaking lightly, "That Jerome you’re talking about took one of my swords and hasn’t died yet. But I’m afraid he might not make it if you don’t show up."
"Address!" Yusuf Zuck said sternly.
"Straight to the point, it’s Everest Zuck’s house!"
"Beep beep beep—" After saying that, Donald Meskill hung up the phone immediately.
With a "whish," Yusuf Zuck pushed open the window and jumped out, heading straight for West Town.
Donald Meskill didn’t smash Jerome Hart’s phone, but instead jumped down from the roof of the car and strode into the villa.
He didn’t know when Yusuf Zuck would arrive; hence, if he waited outside for an hour or two, the cold would be unbearable. He needed to maintain his combat strength.
"Bring those three inside," he commanded, already taking the lead into the villa’s main hall.
Alvin Escobar and his people gestured for Everest Zuck to proceed while Faye Webb helped Jerome Hart up. Jerome Hart had a huge gash across his chest, caused by the Sword Qi, shallow but immensely forceful, likely causing internal injuries.
Everest Zuck and Faye Webb escorted Jerome Hart into the hall, then Faye Webb began to look for medicine to stop the bleeding. Donald Meskill paid no attention to the three of them, instead sitting on the sofa drinking tea by himself.
"Hide and wait for him," Donald Meskill said lightly.
Alvin Escobar and his people began looking for places to hide, some inside the rooms, others outside.
No police cars arrived, for the outer perimeter had already been taken control of. Jace Berger brought his people, so even if neighbors called the police or anything, the police couldn’t get through.
About fifteen minutes later, Yusuf Zuck arrived, standing in Everest Zuck’s courtyard.
Naturally, nobody noticed him because at that time he was invisible.
Though filled with rage and impulsiveness, he hadn’t lost his reason; he knew that the enemy had set a trap, so he was extremely cautious.
With Thought Overlay extended into the villa, he could clearly see Jerome Hart, Everest Zuck, and Faye Webb. They all seemed to be unharmed and even free.
Jerome Hart was injured, with a large bloodstain on his chest, looking exceedingly feeble.
A young man was sitting on the sofa, casually flipping through a magazine, while twelve others were hiding in various corners.
"Five Truth-Insight, and that young Han is there too," Yusuf Zuck narrowed his eyes. If he were to charge in now, maybe he could take out one or two Truth-Insight masters and a Grandmaster, but in the end, he would definitely perish under a chaotic barrage of swords.
Assassination was not a viable method. Although Everest Zuck and his group were free, they were also hostages. Thus, he could kill one or two, but by the third, if people used Everest Zuck as a hostage, Yusuf Zuck would no longer be able to strike them down.
"Good, very good, Meskill family, we are now even!" Yusuf Zuck took a deep breath of putrid air, then turned and walked away.
Yes, he left, because he knew very well it was a death trap. Even with Dante Stewart’s abilities, he would likely end in a bloody mess on the spot today.
He wasn’t afraid of one or two Truth-Insight working together, but five Truth-Insight joining forces, even with the Flying Sword, even with the ability to make short-range leaps, it would still be futile. Most importantly, the enemy had hostages, which was like putting shackles on him, preventing him from extending his hands and feet.
He had arrived as quickly as possible, and only ten or so minutes had passed, so the other party probably wasn’t in a rush yet. His departure, of course, was to repay them in kind.
He acted with great organization and measure, and he certainly didn’t lack schemes.
In less than ten minutes, he arrived in West Town, at the Meskill Family Mansion Alley.
Indeed, the reason he turned and left was to play a tit-for-tat game with his adversary. Since five Truth-Insight had been mobilized, there likely weren’t many masters left at the Meskill Family Mansion.
Sure enough, after he approached the Meskill Family Mansion, he found only two Truth-Insight holding their position, the rest were all Grandmasters, and the Meskill family’s high-ranking members were all sitting silently inside the house, clearly waiting for news.
"Two Truth-Insight, and the weaker ones at that." Yusuf Zuck noticed that the Truth-Insight guarding the Meskill Family Mansion were not as strong as the young man at Everest Zuck’s house or the one named Escobar. It seemed the stronger ones had all gone to assassinate him.
One Truth-Insight was sitting in the main hall, while the other was in the entrance hall. As for the other Grandmasters, they were scattered in various side rooms, some sleeping, some meditating.
He quietly leaped onto the wall, making himself completely silent. At the same time, he slid down the wall.
Thanks to Telekinesis and Invisible, no one detected him as he entered.
He didn’t approach the entrance hall. They say to capture the bandits, first capture the leader. If he went to the entrance hall to kill that Truth-Insight, it would surely cause noise, and then everyone would jump out to protect the Meskill family. It would then become difficult to get near the Meskill family members, so he had to jump into the midst of the high-ranking Meskill members before anyone could react.
Although the doors of the house were closed, they were not locked. This was the biggest flaw of such courtyard houses, under the assumption that high walls and guarded gates meant the doors to the main houses were hardly ever locked, just very ordinary double wooden doors.
When Yusuf Zuck reached the door, he was still Invisible. He didn’t want to reveal this secret, but today, if he wanted to succeed, he needed to become invisible first.
He gently pushed forward, and the two doors opened a crack. Heinstantly moved through with Mind Shuttle.
With a ’puhh’, the Meskill family, including that Truth-Insight still turning his head, found Yusuf Zuck’s sword piercing through his chest!
It was a true one-strike kill. The enemy didn’t know he was coming, so when the doors opened, the Truth-Insight didn’t sense the danger yet, and he took advantage of the Telekinesis to move beside the man, his sharp Treasure Sword even piercing through the sofa. It entered from the man’s back and exited from his chest.
A generation of Truth-Insight, dead!
Of course, his death was no injustice. Invisible coupled with Mind Shuttle and the sharp edge of the Treasure Sword—who in this world could withstand it?
Simultaneously, as the Truth-Insight’s blood burst forth, Yusuf Zuck revealed himself, and everyone watched as he crouched down slowly pulling the Treasure Sword inch by inch out of the body.
"Ah ah ah—" The high-ranking Meskill family members screamed, and instantly, the room was thrown into chaos.
"You may scream, you may shout, but if anyone steps out of this place, they will end up like him!" As Yusuf Zuck spoke, the Short Sword flew up, circling above their heads in the room.
Everyone’s faces turned green.
Outside, chaos ensued as all the masters burst forth, quickly surrounding the main house.
"If anyone dares to come in, I’ll kill Gatlin Meskill first!" Yusuf Zuck’s voice traveled outside, and he sat down, taking out his cell phone, and dialed Jerome Hart’s number.
The phone rang twice before being picked up by Donald Meskill, "Have you arrived already?" he asked with a laugh.
"Sorry, I can’t make it. Your grandfather insists on having me over for a late-night snack. So, I had no choice but to come. Could you maybe wait a bit longer?" Yusuf Zuck asked, using a negotiable tone.
