Chapter 394 - 393: Who did it?

Chapter 394: Chapter 393: Who did it?

"Mia, I have something to ask you." At a Western restaurant open in the evening, while Mia was voraciously eating her steak, Yusuf Zuck suddenly put down his knife and fork. Actually, he brought Mia out because he had something to question her about.

"What is it?" Mia asked indistinctly, while lifting her hand and calling out, "Waiter, two more steaks please, medium-rare." This girl could really eat, and no matter how much she ate, she never seemed to get fat.

"What exactly does your mother do?" Yusuf asked.

"My mom? Why are you asking about her?" Mia was confused.

"A few days ago, I met someone named Margaret Wilkinson..."

"What?" Yusuf hadn’t finished speaking when Mia interrupted, shouting so loudly that it startled the other diners around them.

"Where did you see her? How is that possible, how could you have seen her?" Mia was incredulous; she wasn’t even able to get in touch with her own mother.

"So, Margaret Wilkinson is really your mother? Do you know what she does for a living?" Yusuf observed Mia unpretentiously.

"She’s nothing but a charlatan," Mia whispered. "Years ago, didn’t a lot of people love practicing Qigong? Around the eighties and nineties of the last century, for some reason, she became obsessed with Qigong. At first, she practiced at home; later, she went to the park to practice with others. Then, not long after giving birth to me, she simply left home. Sometimes she wouldn’t return for months, and as I grew up, her visits became even less frequent."

"At one point, my dad even doubted if I was his biological child, and he had a paternity test done, okay? Then it turned out I was, and the whole family united against my mom. But what’s the use if you can’t find her? My dad was busy with his business and eventually paid her no more attention. Later on, my aunt felt that my mom had wronged my dad, so she took it upon herself to look after him. After that... I don’t know," Mia said with a shrug.

"That means, your entire family knew she practiced Qigong?" Yusuf was flabbergasted.

"Yeah, I guess. I stopped paying attention after that. I had no feelings for her. It was my dad and my aunt who stayed in touch with her and knew more," Mia admitted.

"When did you see her? Where? Who was she with? Did she find someone? To be honest, if I were my dad, I would have dumped her long ago. That woman is too much to handle," Mia harbored strong resentment and complaints against her mother.

"She certainly is a handful," Yusuf nodded, and after a pause, he added, "A few days ago, I went out to the southwest and ran into her. She even tried to kill me!"

"What? Why would she want to kill you?" Mia gasped in alarm.

"She wanted to snatch the Short Sword from me," Yusuf said with a smile.

"Didn’t you tell her you’re my man?" Mia asked loudly.

"Cough cough... I said I was your friend," Yusuf coughed and said.

"And then?" Mia pressed.

"Let’s drop it. Anyway, it’s all fine now. The reason I’m telling you is because I don’t want to lie to you. If you see your mother in the future, don’t argue with her. In the end, she and I became friends. That’s it!"

"She’s gone crazy, Yusuf, I’m sorry," Mia’s eyes reddened as she spoke.

"It’s okay, what do you have to apologize to me for? You haven’t been out there looking for other guys!" Yusuf teased her.

"But I’ve thought about it, really! In my guild, there are quite a few tall, rich, and handsome guys chasing after me, and they even want to gift me sports cars. What should I do?"

"Then I’ll take them down!" Yusuf said sternly.

"Haha." Upon hearing Yusuf’s words, Mia burst into laughter: "That’s why I like your style, so bold. Cheers, and don’t worry, I won’t look for anyone, I’m saving myself for you."

"Alright, alright, cheers, let’s move on to the next topic," Yusuf said, unable to deal with Mia’s bold straight talk, and feeling a bit guilty towards her.

Mia was a smart girl, knowing that Yusuf Zuck didn’t want to linger on the topic because he really was in a dilemma, she was too, only, the power of love is the strongest, and she couldn’t control herself.

After they drank and ate several servings of steak, Yusuf Zuck drove her home in her red Ferrari. He had no idea just how many sports cars she owned, but, anyway, this new red Ferrari seemed to be her new favorite.

"I’m commandeering your car," Yusuf Zuck said without getting out of the vehicle or following her inside Ruth Wilcox’s Home, as it was really because they both had been drinking and being alone together was risky. If they crossed the line, his old animalistic habits might resurface, and that would be terrible.

"Okay, go on with your busy schedule. And no fooling around, alright? But if you do, at least remember to take some protective measures. Wear a ’little umbrella’ or something. Got it?"

"I’m off..." Yusuf Zuck sped away to the sound of her giggling laughter.

At eleven at night, Yusuf Zuck returned to his home in Jade Garden, only to find a living room full of people.

Khaza Zuck, Faye Webb, Jerome Hart, Samuel Ross, Pillar, Wuma, Floyd Hart, Uriel Arellano, Grey Petty, Anais Dillon, Isaac Quintana, Mary Berger, Miles O’brien, Paisley Kirk, Raelyn Petty, Rachel Fournier, Anna Cooke, Russ Trujillo, Felicity O’brien...

Almost everyone he was close to had come.

And when Yusuf Zuck opened the door and entered, the room was dead silent, everyone staring at him with wide eyes.

It was true, everyone who was mid-conversation was now utterly baffled.

They had received news that Yusuf Zuck would return that evening, but they hadn’t expected him to walk back in on his own.

But how could he possibly have walked back? Weren’t his leg bones shattered by high-impact bullets? His arm bones were shattered too, and he couldn’t walk at all.

Yet, here he was, Yusuf Zuck in the flesh, walking into the villa as if nothing was wrong, leaving everyone baffled.

"Oh? Isaac’s here too!" Yusuf Zuck spotted Isaac Quintana at first glance, someone who previously hadn’t joined his lone walks.

"Hehe, heard you were in trouble, so I teamed up with Memphis to look into it. Glad you’re okay," said Isaac Quintana with a faint smile.

"Yusuf..." Louise Garrett ran to Yusuf Zuck’s side, her eyes rimmed with red, "Are you okay? Your legs? Does it hurt?" Among all these people, she was the only one who cared about him like this.

The little nurse also wanted to rush over and express concern, to ask questions, but she couldn’t, she didn’t dare.

"I’m fine, really fine. I ran into my master who took me away and then used Divine Skills and spells. He had me healed in minutes," Yusuf Zuck knew that his injuries healing so quickly was unbelievable, so he had to spin a colossal lie.

As for whether people believed that half-true, half-fake story, that was up to them.

If you didn’t believe it, then you couldn’t explain his rapid recovery, but if you did, are there really spells in this world?

So, half-true, half-fake, perhaps only Yusuf Zuck himself knew the truth, and they couldn’t really ask him for more.

"Thank you all for coming to see me, thank you so much," Yusuf Zuck said with his hands clasped together, bowing to everyone.

Everyone waved their hands, and he made them feel quite embarrassed.

"Samuel, where’s my Short Sword? Also, did you find out who did this?" Yusuf Zuck turned to Samuel Ross, his eyes suddenly ice cold. He was determined to catch the shooter behind this.
