Chapter 374: Chapter 374: Decoy Li Ghost Attracts Fire?

The nighttime streets of Tokyo were even tenser than the night before, with police sirens sounding everywhere and patrolling officers visible at every corner.

Yusuf Zuck had left, walking the streets of Tokyo alone. After sharing one last meal with Yoko Ono, he turned and walked away.

There was a bit of heartlessness, but also a sense of relief, for the longer he spent with her, the greater his guilt grew; he didn’t know how to face her.

If she had been an old Japanese lady, the damage would have been done; he would have eaten his fill, wiped his mouth, and walked away without looking back. But she wasn’t an old Japanese lady; she was a young Japanese girl, pure, adorable, kind, and gentle—a quality that only made Yusuf feel more uneasy the more he interacted with her.

Hence, separating, not seeing her again, staying away from her, seemed to ease that sense of guilt somewhat.

Of course, his leaving today also meant he had consumed what he wanted and was now ready to walk away without regret, but what else could he do if not leave her? Perhaps by leaving her, she would be safer.

If her father ever found out that she had been with him, Yusuf was certain her father would kill her without a second thought.

Leaving was the best option; it was better for him, and she would eventually get better as well.

Yusuf dialed Ariel Higgins’s number, the first call after being separated for two days.

The phone rang twice before it was picked up. Before Yusuf could speak, Ariel blurted out, "My calls are likely being monitored. I’m fine, cremation in the morning, flight at noon, home by the evening—that’s it, I’m hanging up."

Without waiting for Yusuf to speak, Ariel had already hung up the phone.

Yusuf’s gaze sharpened. It was normal for the authorities to track Ariel in Japan, and monitoring her calls was to be expected—they just wanted to find him. What worried him was the possibility that the Japanese wouldn’t allow Ariel to leave.

"Maybe I should do something to draw their attention so that Ariel can handle her affairs quicker and leave sooner. As long as they are focused on me, they won’t be watching or listening to her."

Lucy Clayton’s vendetta had been avenged, and though he hadn’t taken down the Black Dragon Club completely, at least the Sword Dao lineage of the Ono family was no more.

Of course, destroying the Black Dragon Club wasn’t something he could just do. This powerful organization with close ties to the military and political spheres certainly had a massive structure, and he knew next to nothing about the Black Dragon Club—no knowledge of their main stronghold, who their leader was, the number of members, and so on. Therefore, it wasn’t something he could dismantle on a whim.

Killing the Ono family avenged Lucy Clayton and others, and setting fire to that research facility was a bonus, so his trip to Japan could be considered finished.

But he couldn’t leave yet. He had to be sure that Ariel landed safely, and made it back to the capital safely before he could depart. If Ariel was detained by the Japanese, then his trip to Japan would have been meaningless.

As Yusuf walked and contemplated how to attract attention, he suddenly heard police cars wailing madly in the streets, all rushing in the same direction, with cruisers bursting out from many intersections and converging.

"What’s going on?" Yusuf was baffled. He was the real culprit, but the police were now madly racing the streets, converging in one direction. Could there be an imposter impersonating him? Had the police moved in?

Yusuf started to jog, following the direction of the swarming police cars.

After running for about twenty minutes, Yusuf saw that the streets ahead were blocked off. Helicopters circled in the sky while hundreds of police cars and even military vehicles gathered on the outskirts.

They were surrounding a large building, the helicopter searchlights occasionally shining on it.

The building appeared to be a shopping center from which people were being evacuated. Many police officers occupied vantage points as military personnel with live ammunition rapidly approached and moved around the building.

He also spotted some journalists, many of whom were filming and taking pictures around the perimeter.

"Pop pop pop pop pop—" Amid the chaotic positioning of forces below the building, several windows on the sixth floor suddenly exploded as though from a gas blast, sending shards of glass flying. Many people screamed and ran away.

"What’s happening?" Yusuf was puzzled. Could there be another group causing trouble in Japan?

"Oh, oh, haha, enjoying the show!" Yusuf Zuck chuckled heartily, watching the excitement as the real deal while the imposter tangled with a skilled fighter inside!

Just then, barely ten seconds after the glass shattered, a window suddenly burst open, and three dark figures plunged downward.

The crowd watching from a distance let out gasps, and Yusuf Zuck cracked a wide grin.

"Bang, bang, bang—" The three figures hit the ground, smashing like rotten apples. Falling from the sixth floor, it would be a miracle if they hadn’t died.

Paramedics rushed over and carried the three figures onto stretchers.

Yusuf Zuck saw that all three were dressed like ninjas, faces covered and pant legs tied, just like those ninjas of legend.

There were masters above!

Yusuf Zuck took a deep breath. There were masters fighting ninjas in the building, but it was unclear who they might be. It seemed the imposter was not to be underestimated either.

"Bang—" Suddenly, another ’bang’ sounded to the front-left of Yusuf Zuck, startling everyone in the vicinity, including himself.

However, when Yusuf Zuck looked towards the source of the noise, he was shocked to find a person standing on the roof of a police car to his left front, a black-robed figure who had seemingly jumped out of nowhere onto the car.

The black-robed figure’s force was so great it had flattened the roof of the police car, and many soldiers and officers had their guns pointed at this person.

A Japanese official shouted something incomprehensible, and then all the guns were lowered, no longer aimed at the black-robed figure.

"Swoosh, swoosh—" As the police lowered their guns, two more shadows appeared in the night, also landing on nearby car roofs.

Yusuf Zuck saw one person holding a travel bag and wielding a katana, like a wandering swordsman.

Another was a middle-aged man dressed in a kimono.

The three stood atop the cars in a triangle formation, a sight both eerie and shocking.

After a few seconds of silence in the scene, the swordsman holding the bag suddenly leaped down, rushing into the building like a gust of wind.

The kimono-clad middle-aged man laughed heartily and instantly turned into a shadowy figure, disappearing in a few blinks.

The black-robed figure didn’t leave immediately but jumped down and said something to the senior police official, who nodded repeatedly before quickly issuing orders!

The police began to disperse the onlookers, reporters’ cameras were confiscated, and no one was allowed to continue watching. They were told to retreat two li (about one kilometer) away, as the blocks were to be sealed off.

Taking advantage of the commotion as the police dispersed the crowd, Yusuf Zuck hid behind a large tree. When he re-emerged, he had become "Invisible," weaving his way towards the building.

He wanted to see for himself what was happening inside. If he found kindred spirits, he’d lend a hand, strike a stealthy blow, or perhaps deliver a dirty trick from the shadows.

As long as it meant killing Japanese, he was duty-bound!

Meanwhile, the fight inside the building seemed to grow more intense. The imposter must have sensed the danger and was fighting back, trying to escape.
