Chapter 373: Chapter 373: Happy to be Alive

Tadeo Ono had left, and it was just before he left that he glanced at Yoko Ono. However, Yoko also noticed that in Tadeo Ono’s eyes, there wasn’t the kind of affection one would expect from a father. There was only the sharpness of an unsheathed sword.

To pursue Sword Dao, Tadeo Ono had long since become estranged from his family, which was why Yoko found him to be very unfamiliar.

Their Ono Clan was a dysfunctional family.

...

The research facility in the garden had caught fire. Yusuf Zuck had not found any explosives, so he had to resort to arson.

Of course, over sixty research personnel also died in the fire.

Killing these defenseless researchers wasn’t difficult; since he attacked from below and moved too quickly, by the time the alarm went off and the guards rushed in, he had almost finished the job.

He didn’t know exactly what they were researching here, but setting the fire cleansed it all.

And burning down this research facility was merely a minor incident during his visit to Japan; it wasn’t part of his original plan.

Of course, what he didn’t know was that the small fire he started here had drawn much bigger attention.

The research projects here were of great importance to Japan, so within half an hour of the fire breaking out, even the Prime Minister had been informed.

An hour and a half later, Tadeo Ono, carrying a travel bag, arrived outside the research facility, accompanied by another man in a kimono and another in a black robe.

All three arrived almost at the same time and quietly observed the building that had been extinguished.

"Sixty-three people dead. Tadeo, including those from your family, that’s almost a hundred and twenty now, isn’t it?" said the middle-aged man in the kimono.

"He’s mine. I hope you won’t compete with me for him," Tadeo Ono said, and with his bag in hand, walked away.

The kimono-clad middle-aged man let out a cold laugh, and the man in the black robe suddenly swept his wide sleeve and vanished into the depths of the garden with a swift motion.

"Chinese... you’ve really crossed the line!" The face of the man in the kimono turned cold as he spoke. Now, they all wanted to find the Chinese who was committing murder and arson all over Tokyo.

Yusuf Zuck’s presence had not only alarmed the Tokyo officials, but the police and military police also went without saying; they had the responsibility and duty to find the perpetrator.

But some who had no such responsibilities or duties also joined in the manhunt.

Japan’s three major disciplines - Ninjutsu, Sword Dao, and Shinto - had already dispatched many to gather information. Even the arrival of Yusuf Zuck had prompted a meeting among the three major schools.

Of course, talk of revenge and the like could wait; the pressing matter was to find Yusuf Zuck, behead him, and hang his head on the tallest building in Tokyo.

Because it was only in this way that they could restore the honor of Japan’s martial arts schools. Otherwise, if a Chinese man were to recklessly commit crimes with impunity in Japan, wouldn’t that turn them into a laughingstock?

Yusuf Zuck returned to the Ono residence at one o’clock in the afternoon.

He had walked back. He had memorized the route when he left in the morning, so he simply walked back along the streets.

"Melvin Zuck~" Upon seeing Yusuf Zuck’s return, Yoko Ono nervously opened the door and looked around.

"What’s the matter?" Yusuf Zuck looked back and saw no one following him.

"My father has returned, but he left again!" Yoko Ono said worriedly.

"Oh?" Hearing Yoko’s words, Yusuf Zuck’s eyebrows shot up: "He came here?"

"Yes."

"What did he say? Didn’t he ask about me?" Yusuf Zuck asked curiously.

"He discovered someone else was living here with me but thought it was my boyfriend."

"Haha," Yusuf Zuck couldn’t help but laugh. Tadeo Ono could never have imagined his daughter would end up living with his clan’s greatest enemy, could he?

"Melvin Zuck, you...you...please leave Japan as soon as possible?" Yoko Ono suddenly bowed her head and cried again. This time, she was the one who initiated the request for Yusuf to leave.

Yusuf glanced at her but then, upon a second thought, he understood what Yoko was thinking. At heart, she was conflicted and also worried about her own safety.

"I still need to wait a bit," Yusuf sat down. He couldn’t leave now. He had to wait until Ariel Higgins took Lucy Clayton and the others’ ashes away and confirmed that Ariel had returned to her country before he could leave.

"Then...then can you spare my father’s life?" Yoko knelt down and cried as she asked.

Yusuf didn’t answer her. It was a question that didn’t need to be answered, Yoko knew what the answer was.

Because between him and her father, only one could live!

"I’ve put you in a difficult position," Yusuf gently wiped away her tears, and she shook her head vigorously.

"You’ve bought groceries, so make me a nice meal," Yusuf said, not wanting to continue the topic of killing but instead asking her to cook.

Yoko nodded, stood up, and went to the kitchen.

Yusuf sighed softly in his heart. Yoko didn’t love him, for there was no talk of love between them. She might even hate him, but more than that, she was afraid and perhaps instinctively submissive.

She saw him as immensely powerful, capable of anything, so subconsciously, she didn’t think about taking revenge on him, and in his presence, she would always be meek.

In Japan’s society, where men dominated everything, in clans like Yoko’s, it was likely that men were revered and women were deemed inferior!

An hour later, Yoko Ono had cooked six dishes, but Yusuf laughed when he saw one of them. Among the six, there was actually a dish of testicles!

He had eaten testicles before, which when men ate barbecue, they often ordered some nourishing dishes, and today, Yoko had made him a nourishing dish, fried testicles.

"Are these testicles? Where did you buy them?" Yusuf couldn’t help but laugh.

"They sell them at the mall. I saw them and bought them. The internet says they are very nourishing for men!"

"Haha, then I won’t be polite," Yusuf laughed heartily. This young lady was interesting indeed, knowing to give him a bit of a tonic.

However, the physical activity last night had indeed been quite strenuous.

Since there was no alcohol, they ate quickly. Yoko cooked six dishes, and though she didn’t eat much herself, in the end, Yusuf finished all of the food on the plates.

Watching Yusuf finish her cooking, Yoko smiled again and got up to clean up.

"Yoko, sit down and don’t move. I have something to say!" Yusuf grabbed her arm and forcefully sat her back down before he said, "You are still young now, and perhaps one day when you’re older, you might hate me. But I’m not afraid of your hatred, because it’s normal to hate someone."

"I’m not afraid if one day you come looking for me, to take revenge, because seeking revenge is also normal," he continued.

"The reason I killed your grandfather and those people is because they killed my friends," Yusuf explained.

"As for last night, what happened...it was my fault, but you were also at fault, because you are cute, and I couldn’t control myself," he added.

"You are beautiful, kind, and you have shown me the gentleness and good nature of Japanese girls, which has changed my views about them," Yusuf said.

"I really like you, like the person you are now. So, I hope that in the future, you won’t change too much. Of course, I hope even more that your future life will be happy, without too many trials, sorrows, or sadness," he said.

"Live happily, for yourself, okay?"
