Chapter 255: Date
Chapter 255: Chapter 255: Date
They say life is like a play, and a play like life, yet some beautiful wishes in our lives remain just that, wishes, never to be fulfilled.
Mia searched the streets and intersections of Tuen Mun blindly, until midnight, but she couldn’t find him.
In the vast city, in the vast sea of people, it’s no easy task to find someone!
She squatted on the street corner and cried, sobbing uncontrollably. She was heartbroken and miserable, but mostly, she felt lost.
Yusuf Zuck had indeed come to Hong Kong, but why didn’t he search for her, look at her, or meet her? Why all of this? What was the reason?
Daisy Wilkinson appeared right on time. In fact, after arriving in Tuen Mun in the afternoon, she had not left but had silently kept track of Mia’s whereabouts, only approaching from behind to gently pat her when Mia helplessly burst into tears on the street.
"Why, when you saw him, did you not call out to him?" Mia stood up and asked loudly.
"He didn’t want to see us. If he had, why would he turn off his phone?" Daisy Wilkinson said with compassion, "Mia, dear, maybe your aunt was mistaken, maybe it wasn’t him!"
"Auntie... he’s avoiding me..." Mia threw herself into Daisy Wilkinson’s arms and cried loudly, overcome with grief.
"Don’t overthink it. Next month, your aunt is going to the capital, so take some time off and come with me. Then we’ll ask him why he went to Hong Kong and didn’t look for us!"
"Yes, I will ask him." Mia bit her lip and said.
The Bentley arrived, and Daisy Wilkinson helped Mia into the car, and they set off on their return journey at midnight.
The lights of Victoria Harbour shone brightly at midnight. Standing in the presidential suite of the InterContinental Hotel, Yusuf Zuck had a full view of Victoria Harbour. He had just taken a shower and felt particularly happy today. He liked the feeling of riding silently by himself on the highway, mingling in a crowd of strangers.
He felt he had distanced himself from everything.
Marlon Shepherd hadn’t come back. When Yusuf Zuck called him, he claimed he had run into some old classmates and was going to stay out all night with them.
Yusuf Zuck sat in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, picked up his phone, thought for a moment, and then gently turned it on.
This phone had many contacts, so it wasn’t good to keep it turned off all the time.
After the phone was on, there was silence for over a minute, and then dozens of text messages started pouring in non-stop.
Yusuf Zuck weirdly waited for all the texts to stop before opening each one. He then saw that the messages were from only two numbers, one from Alec Petty and the other from Mia Lara Tuff.
He ignored Alec Petty’s messages and opened Mia’s directly, scrolling to the top to read them one by one.
"My aunt said she thought she saw you cycling in Hong Kong. I’m coming to find you..."
"I’ve arrived in Tuen Mun. Where are you..."
"Why didn’t you call me, didn’t we agree? You’re not mad at me..."
"I can’t find you..."
"Where are you..."
The messages varied in length, totaling more than thirty.
After reading them all, Yusuf Zuck also felt a headache coming on. He had simply ridden a bike in Hong Kong and yet Daisy Wilkinson had seen him—a coincidence indeed. He hadn’t planned on notifying Mia of his visit to Hong Kong this time.
But now that he had been spotted, if he didn’t at least say hello to Mia, it would seem quite inconsiderate, since after all, Mia was... a good friend of his.
After pondering alone for a while, he opened Alec Petty’s messages but did not look at the content, opting to delete them all instead.
He had come to Hong Kong only to seek medical treatment. Other matters were not in his plans, so out of sight, out of mind.
Having deleted the messages, Yusuf Zuck then directly dialed Mia’s number. Although it was midnight, the time never mattered when he called Mia; in the past, they could talk for hours well into the night.
The phone rang once before it was picked up, and along with it, Mia’s shrill voice erupted in surprise and delight.
"What’s all the yelling for? Did someone step on your tail?" Yusuf Zuck couldn’t help but laugh and cry.
"Where are you, where are you, where are you?" Mia asked repeatedly.
"I’m in the land of tenderness, enjoying a threesome!" Yusuf Zuck chuckled wickedly.
"I’ve actually been studying about men and women recently. Can I come and observe? Don’t worry, I won’t disturb your threesome. I’ll just be watching!" Mia has always been bold; she used to be like this, teasing Yusuf Zuck countless times too.
"Then if you come, it’ll turn into a foursome. And if I go wild, I’ll become a beast!" Yusuf Zuck laughed.
"Oh, you’ve said that before. I’m so scared," she teased.
"Scared, my ass. Come on, come on, let’s have a battle for three hundred rounds!" Yusuf Zuck laughed.
"Battle it is. Send me the address. I’m coming right now. Scared you might chicken out!"
"My lady, I give in. I just switched on my phone and saw your message. I’m indeed in Hong Kong," Yusuf Zuck stopped joking and turned serious.
"Then why didn’t you call me?" Mia’s voice fell.
"I came here on the spur of the moment, just to handle some business and then leave. I didn’t want to disturb you. Besides, I’ve been having issues these days; I lose control when I see women, so I was afraid I might accidentally... you know!"
"You think you’d dare? It’s one thing to scare others, but you think you can scare me?"
"Ahem, let’s not talk about that. What I’m really afraid of is you. I’m at the InterContinental Hotel. If you’ve got time tomorrow morning, come join me for breakfast. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other. That’s it for tonight; get some sleep early!"
"Mm, see you tomorrow morning then!" After saying this, Mia hung up the phone along with Yusuf Zuck.
As soon as Yusuf Zuck hung up the phone, he turned it off again.
Simultaneously, Mia, who also lived in the mid-levels villa area, leaped out of bed, began rummaging through her wardrobe for clothes, applied lipstick, and spritzed perfume...
"Thud, thud, thud—" In no more than five minutes, she was brightly dressed, with her bag in tow and heading downstairs.
Daisy Wilkinson had gone to bed, and the security staff in the villa had also retired. However, when Mia descended the stairs, everyone was startled awake.
Donning a nightgown and yawning, Daisy Wilkinson stepped out as the first-floor security personnel came running one after another.
"What are you all dressed up for?" Daisy Wilkinson couldn’t help but notice how beautifully Mia was dressed, and she was beaming as she raced outside.
"Don’t follow me! I’m telling you, no one follow me. I’m going on a date; if anyone follows me, I’m gonna lose it with them!"
"A date?" Daisy Wilkinson’s mouth fell open. "Yusuf Zuck?"
"That’s right, Yusuf Zuck. So no one had better follow me. I’m about to go crazy, and if anyone tries to mess with me, I won’t be polite!" She included her aunt in that warning as well.
She was bolting out in the dead of night; nobody was going to stop her.
"At least be safe. How about I have someone escort you there? They can drop you off and come back, ok?" Daisy Wilkinson and Marco Tuff actually hoped Mia would start dating; after all, she was at the age for it, yet so far, Mia seemed to have never been in a relationship. That’s also why they weren’t trying to block whatever choice Mia made.
"Alright, Mrs. Wu can take me." Mia nodded. After all, it wouldn’t be good if anything happened on the way, considering the fright from the last kidnapping incident.
"Yes, yes, I’ll take Miss. I’ll take Miss," Mrs. Wu immediately agreed, nodding before heading to the garage to fetch the car.
After some thought, Daisy Wilkinson decided to go downstairs to offer Mia some advice. After all, heading out for a date in the middle of the night and possibly being taken advantage of would not be wise.
"Don’t come down, there’s nothing you need to say. I’m an adult, I can do whatever I want, and I know what I’m doing," Mia stopped Daisy Wilkinson from speaking any further and then hurried out the door.
