Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Jerome Hart Wants to Pursue Faye Webb
Yusuf Zuck clearly captured a piece of information from Faye Webb’s words, which was that she had no desire to be someone’s successor, and she was also considering leaving Everest Zuck.
Indeed, she had been able to say herself that her master wanted to send her to work for Yusuf Zuck, and she hadn’t shown the slightest objection, which meant she wanted to leave Everest Zuck.
Yusuf Zuck did not immediately agree with her, as he still had to ask Everest Zuck about it. In case Everest Zuck disagreed, he couldn’t force Faye Webb to go to Mongolia.
And the intelligent Faye Webb seemed to have guessed what was on Yusuf Zuck’s mind, so after a moment of silence, she continued, "I’ve always grown up under my master’s wing, and I’ve longed to go out on my own for a while, but my master has always been worried about me!"
"Maybe if it were someone else, my master wouldn’t agree for me to handle the finances, but if you were to speak to him, I’m sure he would agree."
"What if your master doesn’t agree, what will you do?" Yusuf Zuck asked with a smile.
"It’s not what I would do, but what you would do, right? Can you find a trustworthy financial officer on short notice?"
Yusuf Zuck was rendered speechless; indeed, Faye Webb was the best candidate.
"Alright, then I’ll thank you first, and I’ll speak with your master when we get back," Yusuf Zuck agreed readily.
"Mhm." Faye Webb gave a light nod, indicating her agreement.
"And who about the other person, whom have you arranged for that?" Jerome Hart suddenly asked.
"How about you?" Yusuf Zuck looked at him and said.
"Me—damn, my clinic hasn’t even opened yet! Once it’s up and running, how could I leave?" Jerome Hart cursed.
"Don’t forget, once the pharmaceutical factory is on track, it will produce the formulas you provide. Then, how to operate, how to keep it confidential, how to make the medicines, and so on—you’ll still have to go over there. And, if the factory runs well, it will benefit you too."
"Most importantly, you studied medicine, so you are knowledgeable in the field. I can’t find anyone more qualified than you!"
"But what about my clinic?" Jerome Hart asked anxiously.
"Are you counting on your clinic to make money?" Yusuf Zuck countered.
"I’m here to serve the people!" Jerome Hart insisted.
"Then let me serve the people for you. Your clinic can just hire two more doctors. Anyway, it’s a health clinic, not ’Jerome Hart’s Gynecology Clinic’, right? So as long as there are doctors in attendance, it’s fine."
"Eh? That could work!" Jerome Hart’s eyes suddenly lit up. "Nowadays, there are plenty of physicians with licenses but no clinic to work at. If we recruit two physicians, many would be eager to take the positions. Besides, I never really counted on the clinic to be profitable!"
"That settles it then," Yusuf Zuck nodded.
"Alright, you’re right. I would have to go sooner or later, and I do know the business, which could speed up our earning pace. Okay, I agree!" Jerome Hart was straightforward. Once he figured it out, he immediately agreed.
"As for your accommodation and meals, you’ll stay at Nehemiah Blevins’ villa for now. I’ll cover all expenses. Next, we’ll arrange two vehicles for the pharmaceutical plant, one for Sonny King and another for the two of you to commute. Any issues?"
"No problem!" Jerome Hart nodded.
"Okay." Faye Webb also nodded.
"Regarding salary, let’s not talk about yours, Jerome, I won’t pay you a salary. As for you, Faye, what salary range do you have in mind?"
"A fixed salary of ten thousand," Faye Webb said directly.
"Ten thousand is too little. How about twenty thousand a month?" Yusuf Zuck, the boss, was too generous.
"This won’t do, every industry has certain wage standards, and my future wages will be coming out of the pharmaceutical factory’s finances, so let’s stick to the normal rates, that way nobody can say anything."
"Alright, we’ll do it your way, but you two need to work together more seamlessly from now on, discuss and handle everything together!"
"Mm-hmm." Both nodded in agreement.
The three returned to the capital in the middle of the night, first dropping off Faye Webb at Everest Zuck’s villa before Yusuf and Jerome went home.
"What did that woman mean by giving herself to you?" Jerome had been holding back his question during the ride, but his curiosity got the better of him.
"It means nothing, just that Everest wants her to work for me, lots of reasons!"
"And what about you? Got any thoughts?" Jerome continued to press.
"What kind of thoughts?" Yusuf asked, puzzled.
"I mean, about Faye Webb, do you have any other... thoughts?"
"Nope, you should know me, I’m already too busy to keep up, and Faye is the frosty type. Don’t take whatever she said before as if she likes me or something. She just wants to escape Everest’s clutches and become independent."
"Such a beautiful woman, and you, an animal, have no thoughts about her? That makes no sense," Jerome said, confused.
"Nothing makes sense? I’m not a stud horse, a man and a woman being together is about chemistry. I don’t feel a spark with her, no chemistry!" Yusuf shook his head. In fact, he truly had no feelings for Faye, and he could sense that the feeling was mutual. Their relationship was nothing but a cordial one!
"Damn, you say that now, but then brother, I won’t hold back!" Jerome’s eyes lit up as he spoke.
"Pfft—" Yusuf almost choked, glaring at him: "You’ve been asking all this just to get at this?"
"What else did you think? A friend’s wife is off-limits. If you were interested, I’d steer clear of her. But if you’re not, brother, I’m desperately in need of some love remedy right now. Love wounds need love medicine to heal, and Faye Webb is just perfect. Plus, I’ve got the hots for her; she’s feisty, and there’s a wild streak in her bones!"
"..."
Yusuf hadn’t noticed any wildness in Faye, but Jerome obviously meant business.
"There’s something I need to tell you in advance, and you absolutely must not blab about this." Yusuf thought for a moment before continuing: "Everest said that Faye was born at midnight during the Ghost Festival, according to the lunar calendar. She has this Yin quality, this Water quality; she brings bad luck to her parents, siblings, and relatives. Anyone who’s kind to her suffers for it. In principle, she can’t get married."
"Although Everest also mentioned that because of her unique constitution, no one can match her in the bedroom."
"The hell, what’s that old bastard trying to say? Did he sleep with my woman?" Jerome’s eyes bulged with anger.
"No, they are master and disciple. Their school is all about feng shui and stuff, you know that, right? So he was just saying... And that woman is definitely a virgin!"
"Damn, you scared me, but unmatched, huh? Hehehe... I like the sound of that!" Jerome chuckled foolishly.
"Don’t get too excited about her good points, she’s supposedly cursed!" Yusuf said, half amused, half exasperated.
"She embodies Yin, I’m Year of the Sheep, what’s there to fear? I’m least afraid of such superstitious nonsense. Besides, I’ve heard about this kind of thing before. If she has a kid with me, my kid would be one in a million!"
"So it’s decided then, Faye Webb’s mine, heh. In a few days, we’ll be whispering sweet nothings on the vast grasslands, hahaha!"
"Heh, don’t get too carried away just yet. If you get hurt later, don’t come crying to me!" Yusuf warned him.
"Damn, crying? You have no idea, I’m the reincarnation of a love god! Wait till I get back from Mongolia, I’ll make sure to knock her up!" Jerome boasted.
