Chapter 156: Encountering Otis Quinn

Chapter 156: Chapter 156: Encountering Otis Quinn

"Dad, what are you planning on doing after you’re discharged from the hospital?" The father and son had talked a lot that night, and Yusuf Zuck had shared some of the events of the past few days that Felix Zuck might be able to accept.

The hospital room had two beds, and at that moment, Yusuf Zuck lay clothed on the other bed. Felix Zuck would be discharged soon, and once out of the hospital, given his personality, could he stay in Beijing?

"You mean, you have tens of millions now?" Felix pondered.

"Yeah," Yusuf nodded, "If you don’t want to live with us, you can live with Paisley. I can also buy you a separate house."

"The house should be bought for Sara, under her name. That way, she’ll have a home in Beijing and won’t have to lower her voice and run around everywhere, regardless of whether she makes it big or not."

"I’ll live with Sara, but you’ll need to give me some money," Felix said with a smile. "After I’m discharged and have rested for a few days, I plan to travel. I’ve never been far from home my whole life, never seen the world outside. Now that I’m old, I can bask in your glory, so I want to enjoy life a bit."

"That’s a great idea. Okay, once you’re discharged, I’ll give you several million, and you can travel the world," Yusuf agreed readily.

"No need for millions; just looking at that much money gives me a headache. Just give me a few tens of thousands. I’ll ask for more when I run out," Felix said, suddenly choking up: "I must have accumulated good fortune in my past lives to have you and Sara, my children. I, Felix Zuck, have lived a worthwhile life!"

"Dad, don’t say that," Yusuf said, his heart aching as he heard his father choke up. Felix was probably feeling bitter inside.

"No matter how much money I make, it’s for Sara, for you kids to spend. When I was younger, I sometimes purposely upset you, defied you, mostly because I felt sorry for my mom. You’ve wandered through life like a silly fool."

"Haha, talking about anything else is useless. After all, you carry my last name, Zuck, and you’re my son, Felix Zuck. A son talking back to his father is nothing!"

"Alright, if that’s what you think, then fine. You have a bank card, right? I’ll deposit some money into your account tomorrow."

"Right, go to sleep early. And don’t get involved in illegal activities; live honestly and do your work earnestly!"

"I know." Yusuf nodded and fell silent, while Felix’s breathing became steady.

The father and son said no more that night, and as dawn broke, at six in the morning, Paisley arrived at the hospital carrying two insulated food containers.

"I went home early yesterday, so I bought a chicken at the supermarket, made chicken soup for uncle, and boiled noodles, and then this morning I bought a tray of buns for Brother Yusuf from the breakfast stall. You should eat them while they’re hot."

One had to admit, Paisley was good at handling people and getting things done, and she was paying for all this out of her own pocket.

"Oh Yusuf, hurry and give Paisley some money. She’s been bringing food these last few days, and her small salary can’t cover much," Felix glared at Yusuf.

"I almost forgot, just wait," Yusuf said, not even touching the buns, rushing downstairs instead.

Paisley followed after Yusuf, insisting that it wasn’t necessary, that it was her intention, and that she still had money.

"Go back and make some chicken soup for my dad, I’ll be right up." Previously, Yusuf had only thought about giving Paisley a big red envelope, but hadn’t considered if Paisley really did care for the old man for a month, what about her expenses for that month? Were they all supposed to come out of Paisley’s pocket?

Yusuf had forgotten, forgotten that Paisley couldn’t possibly have much in savings, and that she had quit her internship, so this girl must have been scraping by for a while now.

Soon, Yusuf was back upstairs, carrying a suitcase from his car’s trunk which contained bundles of cash.

When he entered the room, Paisley was serving Felix his second bowl of soup, and the old man looked very happy.

"Damn, why are you carrying such a big suitcase? Don’t tell me it’s full of money. You left the money in the car? Outside all night?" Felix and Paisley were both startled. Yusuf couldn’t possibly have left the cash in the car, could he?

Yusuf Zuck laughed and said, "The neighborhood where I live is safe, nothing gets lost; I just forgot yesterday." As he spoke, he flipped open the suitcase revealing stacks of bright red hundred-yuan bills, easily amounting to several hundred thousand.

This was the small suitcase, holding several hundred thousand; another suitcase contained a million—the million meant for Fleur Carson, which he had never touched.

"Holy shit..." Even Felix Zuck, who had dealt with money all his life, couldn’t help but curse upon seeing the bundles of cash. The young nurse Paisley Kirk was so nervous her hands began to shake.

She had always known Yusuf Zuck was generous and not short on cash, but she had never imagined he could take out so much money so casually. What is a tycoon? This is a real tycoon.

"Paisley, I was originally planning to give you a red envelope after my dad is discharged from the hospital in a few days, but I had forgotten that you quit your job recently and probably don’t have any income. So, let me give you and my dad some living expenses for now. You can manage this money, buy whatever my dad wants, and if you want anything like taxi fares back and forth, or money for cooking and grocery shopping, you can use this money. When my dad is discharged, I’ll give you another red envelope," Yusuf Zuck said as he picked six bundles from the suitcase and placed them on the bed.

Six bundles amount to sixty thousand; he didn’t give one hundred or eighty thousand because sixty thousand was more than enough.

"No, no, it’s too much; two thousand is all I need, two thousand is enough," Paisley Kirk waved her hands repeatedly, declining the offer.

"It’s settled then, this is our living expenses. Now he’s a tycoon—we don’t need to save for him. A person’s wealth is predestined; he won’t become poor or bankrupt just because we spent some of his money. So, we should spend what we need to. I’ve never even tasted Moutai; from now on, I’ll drink Moutai!"

"That’s the right attitude. I won’t eat now; Paisley, could you take the buns to Jade’s room later?" Yusuf Zuck knew how to maintain relationships. Although breakfast or supper didn’t cost much, buying them for Jade Cooke and his family would oblige them to him.

Of course, the reason he wanted Paisley to deliver them was also to leave a good impression on Jade’s family.

After greeting Felix Zuck and Paisley Kirk, Yusuf Zuck picked up his suitcase and went downstairs.

However, just as Yusuf Zuck was stepping into the descending elevator with his suitcase, he unexpectedly saw two familiar faces inside.

One was Otis Quinn, wearing a jacket with his right arm in a cast—the infamous gangster Otis Quinn. The other was Otis Quinn’s girl, who had slapped his sister Sara.

When Yusuf Zuck recognized the two people, they also recognized him simultaneously and showed looks of horror.

Last time Yusuf Zuck had gone to their place, he had moved like a ghost—until now, they hadn’t figured out what happened, not even catching a glimpse of him at the time.

Especially Otis Quinn’s girl—she was terrified.

"What a coincidence, here for a doctor’s visit?" There were other people in the elevator, but Yusuf Zuck took the initiative to greet them anyway.

"Hello, we’re here to see a patient," Otis Quinn, used to the rough waves of life, quickly calmed down and behaved neither humbly nor arrogantly.

"Oh, what a coincidence; I’m also here to see a patient. How have you been lately? By the way, Dao Ge said he’d take me out to dinner, but there’s been no word about it. Maybe he doesn’t have my number? Here, take down my number and let Dao Ge know I’m waiting for his invite," Yusuf Zuck said.

"Okay, I’ll note it down," Otis Quinn nodded and took out his phone.

Yusuf Zuck squinted his eyes and gave his own number, while Otis Quinn dialed and then quickly hung up after one ring.

Meanwhile, the elevator reached the ground floor. Yusuf Zuck stepped out first, but he didn’t leave right away. Instead, he waited for Otis Quinn and his girl to come out, then moved closer to Otis Quinn.

Otis Quinn tensed up entirely; this Mr. Zuck was no good person, with cruel tactics at his disposal.

Leaning close to Otis Quinn’s ear, Yusuf Zuck whispered, "The incident of your girl hitting my sister, and the trouble you guys gave me—I’ve let it slide. I don’t want to become friends with you, nor enemies again. But if you, Otis Quinn, come looking for trouble again, I’ll kill you. Remember to tell Dao Ge to call me; if he doesn’t invite me, I’ll invite him!" With that, Yusuf Zuck walked away with long strides.
