Chapter 1466: Chapter 1466: Battle for Blood Energy
On the stone platform within the Gigantic World Jungle, the sinister and menacing atmosphere spread like a shroud. Everyone stood frozen in place, counting and recounting the number of people present.
Meanwhile, many started to step back, even those who had just forged fragile alliances were now subtly creating distance between one another.
The Weirdo was a loner to begin with, and coupled with his earlier display of formidable strength, no one dared to approach him.
Landyn Torres also retreated cautiously, step by step. At this moment, trust had entirely collapsed among everyone, because the voice they’d just heard decreed: they had eighteen days to collect Blood Energy, but only those who gathered at least nine strands would have the right to leave this place.
Now, as things stood, the Androgynous Killer had already taken one life—but one strand of Blood Energy was still unaccounted for. This uncanny situation filled them with unease, especially since the method to collect Blood Energy was through killing each other. Only by taking someone’s life could their Blood Energy transfer to you.
Although none of them understood why this was happening, nor knew the identity behind the voice or the nature of this world, they seemed to have no other choice.
Because there was no exit from this world, and that hand that had seized them was far too powerful. They had no choice but to comply.
Naturally, many also found it baffling why someone was missing. Was that person dead or had they never been transported here to begin with?
But if that person were dead, shouldn’t someone have gained a strand of Blood Energy? Moreover, this was a group transportation—would that overwhelmingly powerful hand really have left someone behind?
So, the whole situation was far too eerie.
"Haha, what are you all waiting for? Kill, kill, let’s have ourselves a bloody good time!" The Weirdo was the first to speak, relishing chaos more than anything else. As he let out his sinister, high-pitched laughter, his body shattered into mist, transforming into a black fog that pounced on a woman.
"Oh, my sweet little thing, your skin is so tender. Let big sis have a good feel. I don’t discriminate—boys or girls, it’s all the same to me," he cackled.
"No!" The woman screamed in terror as Tyler Nash lunged at her, retreating rapidly in fright.
However, as she stepped back, she bumped into another woman. That woman’s wrist flicked, and her fingers gleamed with golden light before plunging toward the first woman’s back.
With a sickening sound, the woman, who had been focused solely on Tyler Nash, completely disregarded the fact that everyone else at this moment had also become hunters. Caught off guard, her heart was instantly crushed to pieces.
Yet those who made it here were no ordinary individuals, let alone weaklings. Despite her heart being destroyed, her movements were unaffected. Pivoting swiftly, she struck back with a hand chop that cleaved into the other woman’s neck.
With a loud thud, the attacker’s head soared into the air as her lifeless body collapsed to the ground.
Meanwhile, Tyler Nash’s black fog had arrived, enveloping the woman whose heart had just been destroyed.
"No, no, don’t kill me! Please don’t kill me!" The woman’s screams were bone-chilling, but Tyler Nash was ruthless and inhumane to the extreme. The black fog constricted rapidly as he morphed into a gaping maw, swallowing the woman whole while she was still alive.
At the same time, the beheaded woman wasn’t entirely dead either. The woman whose heart had exploded had survived, and the one whose head had been severed still clung to life. However, the headless, blood-drenched sight was horrifying to behold.
Just as the severed head tried to flee in panic, Landyn Torres struck suddenly. With a swift motion of his five fingers, he snatched the head and crushed it to bits.
Landyn Torres had been closer to the beheaded woman, seizing the opportunity to claim the kill.
With a deep hum, two strands of Blood Energy rose from the Weirdo’s head, and one appeared above Tyler Nash’s.
"Boom—crack, crack, crack!" As the Blood Energy shot skyward, a series of explosive sounds erupted from their bodies. Clearly, their cultivation levels had advanced once more in that instant.
Absorbing others’ Blood Energy—it would only make sense for their cultivation to grow stronger.
"Kill! Kill them all, and grow more powerful yourself!" At this, the remaining participants erupted into chaos, no longer hesitating as a free-for-all battle commenced.
Yusuf Zuck was still standing motionless on the stone platform, but his heart boiled with rage.
Who was that hand? How dare it treat his life—and everyone’s lives—as if they were worthless? How dare it force them to fight like wild animals?
What an appalling insult, a stain on their dignity!
At this moment, Yusuf Zuck didn’t care about killing others to gain Blood Energy. Instead, his thoughts burned with questions—what did that hand want from them? Did it see them as nothing but chickens to be toyed with in a cockfight?
In truth, Yusuf Zuck wasn’t the only one pondering this. Among the crowd, several others shared the same thoughts, their pride as elites refusing to allow them to be so humiliated.
The chaotic battle raged on, but a few of the smarter ones dissolved into streaks of light and fled.
Several other men and women, after dodging their opponents’ attacks, also turned and ran without engaging. Yusuf Zuck even noticed one man in white robes escaping with a smirk as he retreated.
The fighting lasted no more than two hours before ending. Not everyone was killed; instead, many participants fled one after another. These were individuals of comparable skill and strength, making prolonged conflict unwise as each side risked benefiting opportunistic interlopers.
Take Tyler Nash, for example—he hadn’t participated in any direct fights. Instead, he waited for a moment when two combatants, both gravely injured, were locked in a life-or-death struggle. Then he swooped in, killing them both and swallowing them whole, amassing four strands of Blood Energy in one move.
Plenty of others acted like him. Hugo Olson, with his distinct mustache, also took advantage of the chaos. Spotting a heavily injured combatant, he sneaked in for the kill, claiming the Blood Energy for himself.
And so, the skirmish ended swiftly. Only about ten people died before everyone scattered and fled.
After all, there were eighteen days remaining. Acting too hastily would only benefit the opportunists.
Tyler Nash disappeared as he chased after a wounded participant. Landyn Torres had also left, having obtained only a single strand of Blood Energy without partaking in the melee.
Two hours later, the stone platform was now utterly desolate—at least within Yusuf Zuck’s line of sight, not a soul remained, only the overwhelming stench of blood lingering in the air.
Yusuf Zuck waited for nearly another two hours, ensuring that no one else was around, before flickering into his true form and leaping to the top of a tree.
But the instant he landed on the treetop, his eyelid twitched, and his body instinctively arched backward.
With a sharp whoosh, an arrow grazed the tip of his nose, leaving a thin trail of blood in its wake. Furious, he swung his gaze toward where the arrow had come from.
Five hundred meters away, atop another treetop, stood a figure with arms crossed. This person held a Bent Bow and was clad in flowing white robes, their gaze cold and piercing.
Yusuf Zuck recognized this figure as one of those who had fled earlier with a cold smile, refusing to partake in the battle.
"Heh, your Invisibility Technique is truly clever—managing to fool everyone’s eyes and senses," the figure in white said with a faint smile. "You must be quite strong, which makes your Blood Energy all the more potent. Therefore... you are mine!"
"Young Master No-Flower, I believe he belongs to me." Before the white-robed figure finished speaking, a woman abruptly appeared in the distance, stepping forward gracefully.
She wore Apricot Yellow Rainbow Clothes, exuding an air of extravagance.
