Chapter 101: Chapter 101: Ember Vance’s Kind Heart

In a single day, he had made another twenty million. Ruth Wilcox was shocked by the speed at which Yusuf Zuck could attract wealth. If everything Yusuf said was true, then it wouldn’t take long for his fortune to truly surpass that of the Wilcox family, would it?

However, Mia clearly didn’t believe it and kept insisting that Yusuf Zuck was boasting.

Neither Yusuf Zuck nor Ruth Wilcox gave her a detailed explanation, but Ruth did offer some constructive suggestions about setting up an antique shop.

At eight o’clock in the morning, after breakfast, Ruth Wilcox finally had to leave.

"Mia, go start the car. I have something to tell Yusuf," Ruth said, standing in the living room.

"Oh," Mia picked up her large suitcase and stepped out, while at that moment, Ruth Wilcox and Yusuf Zuck looked into each other’s eyes.

"It’s okay to let Mia take me," Ruth said, shaking her head. "I still need to go to the office and meet with my second uncle."

Yusuf Zuck opened his mouth and took two steps forward, standing in front of Ruth, "I’m not turning off my phone. Call me anytime if there’s anything."

"I know, you... take care," said Ruth. At that moment, she suddenly opened her arms and pulled Yusuf Zuck into an embrace.

Yusuf hugged her back tightly.

She stood on tiptoe and kissed his cheek before turning to leave.

Yusuf stood still, watching her leave, then suddenly said in a deep voice, "One day in the future, I’m going to marry you!"

Ruth paused her steps, "Then I’ll be waiting." With that, she walked away quickly.

Mia started the car, and once Ruth got in, they drove off, leaving behind Yusuf who then slumped onto the sofa, feeling a complex mix of emotions.

In the car, Ruth said indifferently, "Straight to the airport!"

"Oh, you’re crying again, little Ruthie, you really are in love..." Mia handed over a tissue while driving.

"Just drive," Ruth snatched the tissue away and gently wiped her tears.

"Aren’t you going to meet with your second uncle?" Mia asked, puzzled.

"I’m not going. I’m going straight back to the United States. Why should I have to apologize?" Ruth said angrily.

"Right, that’s more like my little Ruthie."

After smoking two cigarettes in the villa, Yusuf also got up to leave. He needed to make money, a lot of money.

Getting into the car, he first called Samuel Ross to ask about the house, and Samuel’s response was that they were going to view it that morning and should be able to confirm everything.

Yusuf changed his mind and said he would go see the house with him in the morning, and then they agreed on a place to meet.

After calling Samuel Ross, Yusuf immediately called Miles O’brien. He was not in the mood to accompany Miles O’brien around for the day; he needed to settle things with Dream Morrow and Samuel first, and he also had to buy a car.

"Louise, what does Mr. Liu and Mr. Hao mean by partnering in gambling on stone? Tell me about it; I want to hear," Yusuf was still thinking about the gambling on stone, as he was counting on it to make his fortune.

Louise Garrett thought for a moment and said, "Every year in Yunnan, there is a gambling stone public sale, where various rough gemstones brought in from Myanmar will be on offer, attracting jewelers from both within the country and internationally, including some well-known ones such as Liu Gui Fu, Aaron Berger, and so on, who will participate."

"And what Uncle Hao and Uncle Liu mean is, when the next gambling stone public sale comes, they want to hire you as a stone selection technician. If you can bring them a substantial profit at the gambling stone public sale, they will likely give you a share of the profits."

"Of course, you can also invest your own money to gamble on stones; you’re just the master they’re hiring."

"Also, I think you should accept their invitation. The wealth of a single person is limited. Even if you have a hundred million, you might not be able to gamble on many stones, but if the three of you partner up, the larger the capital, the more advantageous for you. If you could become accurate in every attempt, the bonus they give you would be no small sum."

"Hmm, I understand, but I have something on today and can’t come to see you. You take the check and turn it into cash first, then help me rent a store space at the Ruiz Clan Garden. Make sure it’s at least comparable to Boss Hao’s place. Just make the decisions on your own."

"Oh, okay, so I really get to decide everything?" Miles O’Brien asked with a laugh.

"Yes." Yusuf Zuck nodded. "From now on, you’ll be the one in charge of the store." He wasn’t familiar with antiques, so he really needed Louise Garrett to take the lead.

"Then I’ll hang up now, and I’ll call you once I find a location," Louise Garrett said and then hung up the phone.

Just then, Yusuf Zuck suddenly pulled over to the side of the road because a stroke of inspiration flashed through his mind; he remembered a saying, "Don’t put all your eggs in one basket."

Gambling on stones or antiques could make money, but if he put all his assets into it, and something changed later, he would be unable to pull out, and his initial capital would become frozen and unworkable.

He now had a hundred million in funds. So, trying out the antiques business with a few tens of millions, he also needed to familiarize himself with the industry, as he was still an outsider to it. It wouldn’t be safe to invest it all.

With the remaining tens of millions, he could make other investments, which would be like blossoming on two fronts.

And as he sat in the car contemplating his future plans, his phone started ringing intermittently. The caller ID showed it was Ember Vance.

After pondering for a moment, Yusuf Zuck answered the call.

"Is this Yusuf Zuck?" Ember Vance asked.

"Officer Vance, you misspoke. You forgot to call me yesterday," Yusuf Zuck said with a laugh.

"Something came up yesterday, I couldn’t find the colleague who handled your Fengdu case. I only met with them this morning, but... there hasn’t been much progress on your case. Someone named Duke Miles was caught, but he doesn’t know who’s pulling the strings either."

"Oh, thanks. It’s no longer needed now. If you can solve it, great; if not, let it be," Yusuf Zuck sighed.

"What happened? Why?" Ember Vance asked, puzzled.

"Ms. Wilcox has left Fengdu and has been transferred back to headquarters. Also, I’ve been fired, so it’s no longer my concern," Yusuf Zuck said with a smile.

"Ah... you were fired too? Then you... you... don’t have a job anymore?" Ember Vance was obviously shocked to hear that Yusuf Zuck had been let go.

"Yeah, I’m planning to go to a construction site and move bricks. Officer Vance, thanks a lot. I’ll treat you to a meal when I have the chance," Yusuf Zuck said and then hung up. Ember Vance was quite righteous; even though she could be a bit headstrong sometimes, she was a good person at heart.

Yusuf Zuck started the car and headed back on the road, also pondering where else to invest the other half of his funds.

And about ten minutes later, his phone rang again, with Ember Vance’s caller ID showing up a second time.

"What is it?" Yusuf Zuck answered, sounding impatient.

Ruth Vance replied irritably, "What do you mean, what is it? I have a job offer for you, do you want it or not? It’s a community security job, six thousand a month, with a two-shift system, one day and one night for each shift. There’s a place to stay, but you have to take care of your own meals."

"Er..." Shocked that Ember Vance had actually arranged a job for him, Yusuf Zuck was silent and stunned for a moment.

"What’s the matter? Will you take it or not? Tell me, I pulled strings to get this for you. Let me tell you, if you do well as community security, you might get picked as an auxiliary police officer later on. If you serve long enough as an auxiliary, you might even become a regular officer," Ember Vance reminded him.

"My beauty, thanks, but I’ve started my own business now, so I’m no longer interested in security work."

"Starting your own business?" Ember Vance was taken aback, then responded, "Oh, then never mind. Bye." She hung up before Yusuf Zuck could answer.

Yusuf Zuck just shook his head with a laugh and continued driving while sending a message to Ember Vance: Thanks, I’ll treat you to a meal another day.

"No time." She replied briefly. She was busy!
