Chapter 100: Chapter 100: How Many Times in Life Does One Go Crazy?
In a haze, Ruth Wilcox slowly awoke and the moment she opened her eyes, she saw a pair of deep eyes watching her.
He was sitting at the head of the bed, smiling softly.
After a brief moment of surprise, Ruth peeked under the covers, then quickly closed them again.
"I’ve made a fool of myself again..." Ruth’s face turned a shade of crimson.
"No, you were very quiet last night."
"Thank you." Perhaps it was because of that time in Shanghai, but this time when she saw herself undressed, she wasn’t scared or lost. Her underwear was still on her body.
Yusuf Zuck didn’t touch her again.
That was what pleased her most, Yusuf Zuck had the manner of a gentleman, never improper!
"I’ll go make breakfast. You take a shower," Yusuf Zuck patted her arm and got up to leave.
However, before Yusuf Zuck could stand up, Ruth suddenly grabbed his hand and looked at him intently, "I... I..." She opened her mouth as her eyes started to redden.
Yusuf Zuck sat back down, holding her hands with both of his and said, "Don’t feel like leaving?"
She bit her lip gently, nodded, then shook her head and said, "You go first."
"Mmhmm." Yusuf Zuck felt a clump of air in his chest, an oppressive feeling that made it hard for him to breathe. He let go of her hand and stood up to walk out.
Ruth curled up under the covers and sobbed softly. She had suddenly realized that she had fallen for him. This feeling was unprecedented. And today, as she was about to leave, she knew that what she found hardest to leave behind after all these years back home was him!
She didn’t care about the CEO position, didn’t care about anyone else—except, inexplicably, for him.
She knew that after so many days of interaction, everything about him had been deeply branded in her heart, impossible to dispel, too painful to part with!
When Yusuf Zuck went downstairs, Lara Tuff’s car just happened to drive into the yard; she got up early to come over.
"Wow, why so many bottles? So much food?" Upon entering the living room, she saw more than a dozen empty wine bottles and a full table of dishes.
"My God, Ruth, tell me you didn’t..." Ignoring Yusuf Zuck, who stood at the foot of the stairs, Lara dashed upstairs like the wind.
Yusuf Zuck gave a wry smile; he wasn’t sure if Lara would follow them to the United States.
Lara burst into Ruth’s room and saw her crying on the bed.
"Damn it, Yusuf Zuck, damn it!" Without a word to Ruth, Lara screamed and rushed out again.
"Lara, it’s not like what you think..." Shocked by Lara’s reaction, Ruth immediately jumped out of bed and followed her.
But Lara seemed to have lost all reason. After descending the stairs, she picked up a wine bottle and charged at Yusuf Zuck!
"Damn, what are you doing?" Yusuf Zuck was startled by her and immediately ran out of the kitchen to the other side of the dining table.
"You bastard, you dared to assault Ruth, I’ll kill you..." Lara chased Yusuf Zuck around the table.
"Lara, stop it, what are you doing?" Wearing just her underwear, Ruth stood at the top of the stairs on the second floor, staring at Lara.
"Him... you... you all!" Lara held the wine bottle, looking somewhat bewildered.
"It’s not what you think, hurry up, come help me pack," Ruth said, her face flushed with urgency, almost bleeding; she was so anxious that she hadn’t even put on her pajamas, and she looked quite indecent.
"Miss, could you not be so filthy-minded, considering you’re supposed to be a lady," Yusuf Zuck said, half laughing, half crying.
"You wait, I’ll deal with you later." Lara put the wine bottle down on the dining table and clambered up the stairs again.
Upstairs, Ruth hadn’t taken a shower but had already dressed and was packing the clothes and other items she intended to take with her.
"Ruth, what the hell happened? He didn’t do that to you last night, did he?" Lara asked urgently as she entered the bedroom.
"No, don’t think nonsense," Ruth Wilcox glared at her and said.
"Then why were you crying just now? You scared me to death. I thought he had...you know." "
"No, sit down, I have something to tell you." Ruth Wilcox sat on the bed and gestured for Mia to sit beside her.
"Mmm-hmm, go ahead, don’t cry. I’m here for you. If anyone bullies you, I’ll slaughter their whole family." Mia said, tenderly touching Ruth Wilcox’s face.
"Don’t talk nonsense." Ruth Wilcox broke into a tearful smile, bit her lip, and then suddenly mustered the courage to say, "I’ve fallen for Yusuf Zuck."
"Ah..." Mia gaped.
"I’ve fallen in love with him." Ruth Wilcox hugged Mia. "He’s the first man who has entered my heart, and I’ve realized that I can’t bear to leave him."
"You little rascal, he’s actually captured your heart?" Mia huffed, "You didn’t really let him...last night, did you?"
"No, he would never take advantage of someone in a vulnerable state," Ruth Wilcox shook her head.
"That’s good, that’s good. It’s normal for you to fall for him; the guy can indeed make a girl’s heart race. He’s quite the ladies’ man. But maybe you should go back to the United States to cool off for a while? With your background and wealth, you can’t allow yourself to live with a...a poor man."
"He’s not poor. I believe that it won’t take long for his wealth to accumulate without limit. His capabilities are beyond your imagination."
"Love is blind, huh? His crap probably smells like perfume to you now, right?" Mia rolled her eyes.
"Don’t talk nonsense," Ruth Wilcox hit her lightly.
"Okay, okay, I won’t talk nonsense. You like him, that’s fine, but you should go back to the United States to cool off. As for him, I’ll keep an eye on him for you. Didn’t you say you wanted to give him sixty million? I have to keep an eye on him. You can never trust men too much," Mia pursed her lips.
"No need, what’s there to keep an eye on? He’ll be living here in the future, and I’ve also told him he can use the cars in the garage."
"Damn, you’re really going all out. Investing sixty million and then throwing in a villa and cars for some handsome black guy, have you lost your mind?"
"Yes, I’ve gone mad. How often does one go mad in life? If he can move me, I’m willing to give up everything!"
"Alright, alright, rest assured and stay in the United States. I’ll keep a tight watch on him for you. Just leave it to me!" Mia thumped her chest.
"I’ve told you there’s no need to keep an eye on him, what’s there to watch?" Ruth Wilcox smacked her again.
"Okay, okay, I won’t watch. Happy now?" Mia verbally agreed, but she had already decided she would keep a close eye on Yusuf Zuck.
"It’s almost time, let’s go downstairs."
Yusuf Zuck downstairs had already prepared three breakfasts consisting of bread, milk, and fried eggs. He immediately went to greet Ruth Wilcox as she came downstairs with a large suitcase and took it from her.
"Hmph, Yusuf Zuck, I’m asking you, what do you need sixty million for?" Mia didn’t know why Ruth Wilcox wanted to give sixty million to Yusuf Zuck. She hadn’t asked in detail when Ruth Wilcox told her yesterday, but was planning to ask properly today.
Sixty million was not a small amount; how could anyone just lend it to someone else?
"To chase girls!" Yusuf Zuck replied irritably.
"Pfft..." Mia almost choked upon hearing Yusuf Zuck’s reply.
"Okay, stop messing around, let’s talk while we eat." Ruth Wilcox smacked Mia and after the three of them sat down, she continued, "Yusuf Zuck is investing in the antique business. He needs a startup capital of over forty million, and he’s short by sixty million, so I’m providing that."
"Yeah, I’ll convert it into shares, and we’ll draft an agreement with a lawyer later," Yusuf Zuck nodded.
"What, what? Hold on, Ruth, are you saying that Yusuf Zuck has forty million in startup capital?" Mia was shocked.
"Not forty million. I made almost another twenty million yesterday, so it should be sixty million in startup capital now!" Yusuf Zuck boasted.
"You made another twenty million yesterday?" Ruth Wilcox too was startled by Yusuf Zuck’s claim. Really? It can’t be that easy to make money, can it?
