Chapter 818: Chapter 814: Competing Speed

After Wang Xianzhong came out of the City Supervision Bureau Complaint Center, he looked back at the building where the center was located, his heart full of pride.

Imagining the scene of Ye Fan being directly taken away by people from the municipal commission for discipline inspection, Wang Xianzhong couldn’t help but laugh as he got into his car and called Fan Feipeng. As soon as the call connected, he excitedly said, “Captain Fan, it’s done!”

Fan Feipeng was also very pleased and said, “Brother Wang, you’re very efficient, I’ll throw you a celebration dinner tonight! Same place, don’t miss it!”

“Alright!” Wang Xianzhong started the car, left the complaint center, entered the main road, and headed towards Mingde County.

Not long after Wang Xianzhong left, in the complaint center, the young clerk with black-rimmed glasses began scanning and filing the complaint letters and materials according to procedure, converting them into electronic format and uploading them to the complaint center database.

After completing the process, the clerk made himself a cup of coffee. While drinking it, he double-checked everything. After a moment, he rubbed his eyes in disbelief, then quickly typed out a series of keyboard strokes, causing two people’s identity information to appear on the computer screen.

One was a young political commissar at the Mingde County Police Department, and the other was a forty-something returned overseas investment businessman, and both were named Ye Fan!

The young clerk pushed his glasses up, remarking, “Unbelievable, even this could go wrong?!”

Ye Fan wasn’t a fool, he naturally wouldn’t use his current identity to invest in Mo Yan Group, moreover, his identity at Mingde County Police Department was fabricated by the National Security side.

Mo Xiaoyan’s secretary was bribed by Xie Liping, only responsible for collecting relevant intelligence, naturally indifferent to the content of the information, while both Xie Liping and Wang Xianzhong made the same mistake, instinctively linking the person named Ye Fan the investor to the political commissar of Mingde County.

Who could have imagined that these were two different identities — at least legally completely different individuals.

The young clerk shook his head, deleted the electronic records, then discarded the complaint letter and materials into the trash bin.

Mingde County, Police Department.

A knocking on the door was heard outside, Ye Fan put down the pen he was holding and said, “Come in.”

Miao Jian entered, “Commissar, the task is done.”

Ye Fan naturally knew what he was referring to, but it had only been a little over three hours since noon, he asked in wonder, “So soon?”

Miao Jian wiped sweat from his face and said, “Captain Xu had done quite a bit of preparation beforehand; more importantly, several security team members couldn’t stand Wang Xianzhong and proactively cooperated with us, willing to come forward as witnesses.”

Ye Fan acknowledged, “How about Xiangli?”

“The captain is outside organizing the evidence,” Miao Jian said.

“I’ll go take a look.” Ye Fan said, as he headed with Miao Jian to Xu Xiangli’s office, where security officer Song Dazhuang was also present, head down and writing something.

Seeing Ye Fan coming over, both looked a bit surprised, Song Dazhuang quickly stood up, Xu Xiangli put down her work and said, “Leader, you’re here.”

Ye Fan nodded, “Miao Jian said you’ve got the evidence, I came to check.”

“It’s all sorted out,” Xu Xiangli said. As things had progressed to this point, her face showed a look of reluctance. “If all these are submitted, Wang Xianzhong’s life will be practically over.”

“After all, you’ve been colleagues. The severity is up to you to decide.” Ye Fan glanced at what Song Dazhuang was writing and couldn’t help but smile, “Complaint letter?”

Song Dazhuang scratched his head, Xu Xiangli said, “I’m Wang Xianzhong’s subordinate, so it’s inconvenient for me to write it, so I had Dazhuang help me.”

Having the burly former soldier Song Dazhuang write a document was like having Zhang Fei embroider, Ye Fan patted Song Dazhuang on the shoulder and said, “It’s hard on you.”

Song Dazhuang stood tall and said, “Reporting to the leader, this is what I should do!”

“Well, you guys continue working, I’m leaving now.” Ye Fan said and then turned to leave the office.

“Leader, take care.” Xu Xiangli escorted Ye Fan out.

At 4:20 in the afternoon, Wang Xianzhong drove back to the security team, parked his car, humming a tune, leisurely walking towards the office. Yet he found it odd that several security team members gave him strange looks along the way.

“Is it just because I skipped one or two days of work? Is there a need to look at me like that? These guys, they’ve eaten something wrong?” Wang Xianzhong thought to himself as he arrived at his office, where two security team members were whispering to each other.

Seeing Wang Xianzhong enter, they immediately stopped talking and pretended to be busy with their work.

Wang Xianzhong sat down, puzzled, “Old Liu, Haozi, what were you two whispering about just now?”

One security team member quickly shook his head while the other said, “Ye Commissar came by this afternoon…”

Before he could finish, the other team member nudged him from below, and he quickly stood up, “Oh, I need to go out for fieldwork, I’m heading out now.”

For some reason, Wang Xianzhong had a bad premonition and asked the other team member, “Haozi, what did Ye Commissar come here for?”

The security team member called Haozi shook his head, “Ye Commissar? Did he come by? I just got back from outside, I didn’t know about it.”

“Where is everyone else?” Wang Xianzhong asked.

Haozi said: “They seem to have gone to handle matters at the market, those vegetable vendors, they’re fighting again this afternoon.”

Wang Xianzhong nodded, propped his feet up on the desk, pulled out his phone to play music. He never wore headphones when playing music, always listening to square dance songs out loud, the other security team members in the office were both annoyed and didn’t dare express it.

“Listen away, soon enough you’ll be finished!” Haozi thought angrily, when suddenly, Wang Xianzhong said, “Haozi, I’m hungry, buy me a basket of chive dumplings.”

At the mention of chive filling, Haozi felt disgusted but still obliged, thinking of it as your “last meal” and walked out.

Soon after, footsteps were heard, Wang Xianzhong, squinting and humming along with his phone, said: “Just put it on the table.”

No response.

Wang Xianzhong opened his eyes in confusion and uttered, “Xu Xiang—um, Captain Xu,” He dropped his feet from the table, “What brings you here? Anything?”

Xu Xiangli said coldly, “Wang Xianzhong, it’s better you resign.”

“Wha—what?” Wang Xianzhong was incredulous, “Why should I resign?!”

“For your own good, considering we’re colleagues, I don’t want to push things too far.” Xu Xiangli replied impatiently.

Looking around, Wang Xianzhong noticed that none of the seven or eight security team members in the office were from his own team and immediately realized he was set up, angrily slamming the desk, “Xu Xiangli, what is this supposed to mean?!”

“Smart people adapt to circumstances.” A voice sounded, causing Wang Xianzhong’s heart to sink suddenly. He turned his head to see Ye Fan entering, “Ye… Ye Commissar…”
