Chapter 805: Chapter 801: Secretly Photographed
Seeing the boss knocked down, the security team charged forward aggressively, leaving the rioting workers too scared to resist. They hurriedly clasped their heads and squatted on the ground.
And those seven or eight tattooed guys instantly panicked.
“Split up and run!” shouted a hooligan with dyed yellow hair and immediately bolted.
“Stop right there!” A security officer rushed over and tackled the yellow-haired man to the ground; the man shouted in pain and the officer slapped him across the face. “Chicken Yellow, you’re jumping everywhere, aren’t you!”
The remaining ten or so security team members scattered to chase the escapees.
Xu Xiangli approached Ye Fan, looking at the bloody-faced bald man, her eyebrows slightly furrowing, “Why is it this guy?”
Ye Fan was a bit surprised, “Xiangli, you know this man?”
“Yes,” Xu Xiangli nodded, as the security team behind her put Wang Qiang into the car, “His name is Wang Qiang, a prominent thug from the western part of the city, involved in all sorts of scams and theft. He’s a regular at the station, but half a year ago, along with his subordinates, he recruited some construction workers for site contracting, somewhat cleaning up his act.”
“Old habits die hard!” Ye Fan sighed. Meanwhile, those little hooligans had mostly been caught, a sorry bunch being shoved into police cars.
Ye Fan patted Xu Xiangli’s shoulder and said, “Thanks for your hard work.”
“It’s our duty as the security team, it’s not hard work.” Xu Xiangli said, “Chief, are you leaving with us?”
“You all head back,” Ye Fan glanced at Mo Xiaoyan and said, “I’ll go talk to President Mo and see if she wants to pursue accountability for these people.”
Xu Xiangli nodded and without further thought, she called 120, leaving two security officers to handle the aftermath, then drove away with her team.
After about ten minutes, the county hospital’s ambulance arrived. After a simple treatment, those with minor injuries stayed, and those more seriously injured, like the young man who first struck out, were carried straight into the ambulance.
Having dealt with the situation here, both the workers and security looked at Ye Fan with unconcealed admiration and even awe.
So young, yet already the political commissar of the county police department, it’s impossible not to be impressed. Even more memorable was Wang Qiang’s brutal hit on this young commissar, but inexplicably hitting himself. No one could understand how it happened to this day.
Regardless of how, for the second-in-command of the police department, standing alone in a crisis with unmatched courage and fortitude is enough to earn respect.
“Thank you, thank you, Chief!” Old Liu, with a bandaged left hand, came over and knelt before Ye Fan with a thud, tearfully saying, “Without you today, we might…”
Ye Fan quickly helped Old Liu up, smiling, “Master Liu, don’t be like this; maintaining order and promoting justice is just what we should do!”
This dark-skinned, burly man sniffled, vigorously shaking Ye Fan’s hand, “Yes, yes, Chief is right! But, Old Liu has worked on construction sites most of his life, dealt with various leaders, and you’re the only one without airs, who sincerely helps the common folk!”
“Not flattery, but words from Old Liu’s heart!” the contractor added.
Ye Fan smiled warmly like the sunlight in March, “If officials don’t act for the people, they might as well go home and sell yams.”
Old Liu was stunned briefly, then burst into laughter, as did the surrounding workers. In the crowd, Mo Xiaoyan was the first to applaud, followed by a hundred pairs of hands clapping in unison.
“Workers need to go to the hospital,” Ye Fan reminded, “Master Liu, you should accompany the injured first.”
“Yes, yes,” Old Liu nodded eagerly, “I’ll visit you with the team someday to express our gratitude!”
Supported by his fellow workers, Old Liu got in the ambulance, continually praising Ye Fan as a good official.
Once things were settled, the workers dispersed. With no one around, Mo Xiaoyan approached Ye Fan and gently took his arm, batting her eyes playfully, “Chief.”
Ye Fan donned an authoritative demeanor, and said sternly, “Is that a way to speak to your chief?”
Mo Xiaoyan giggled, “Stubborn brother-in-law, enjoying the benefit yet complaining!”
Ye Fan nonchalantly withdrew his arm from Mo Xiaoyan’s hold and said, “Shall we go to your office?”
“Alright.” Mo Xiaoyan replied, feeling a little disappointed.
After entering the office and closing the door, Ye Fan sat on the sofa, and Mo Xiaoyan asked, “Brother-in-law, want something to drink?”
“Just water is fine.”
Mo Xiaoyan nodded, poured a glass of water and brought it over. As Ye Fan accepted the cup, his fingers brushed Mo Xiaoyan’s hand, feeling slightly cool.
“I didn’t expect you’d come personally, brother-in-law.” Mo Xiaoyan smiled lightly, and sat down beside Ye Fan.
“Actually, I have another matter,” Ye Fan handed over a file folder, “Take a look.”
“What is this?” Mo Xiaoyan took it curiously, opened the folder, took out a thick stack of documents, glanced over a few pages, her eyebrows furrowing a bit, then her eyes increasingly brightened, flipping back to the first page, reading it carefully line by line.
This was the promotional document sent by her mother’s secretary in the morning, conveniently brought over by Ye Fan.
Regarding business matters, Qiao Feixuan was always serious. She said that the promotional document could increase the success rate of the cosmetics project to seventy percent, and Ye Fan was entirely confident about this.
Without saying a word, Ye Fan stood up, walked to the window, and looked out.
This economic planning area wasn’t small, but with few factories and companies, it seemed sparse. Due to pollution concerns, the cosmetics factory was built by the river. From here, you could see the shimmering river under the sunset.
About half an hour later, Mo Xiaoyan finally withdrew her gaze, looked up, and stared intently at Ye Fan.
“What’s wrong? Is there any problem?” Ye Fan turned and asked.
Mo Xiaoyan shook her head, then put down the document, stood up, and unexpectedly, lifted herself on tiptoe, swiftly pecking Ye Fan’s lips.
Their lips touched briefly and quickly separated.
Ye Fan was still savoring the soft and slightly cool sensation, while Mo Xiaoyan was already giggling, her eyes bending like crescents, resembling a girl who had just received her long-coveted plush toy.
“Brother-in-law, will you take a walk with me?” Mo Xiaoyan suddenly asked.
A few minutes later, Mo Xiaoyan and Ye Fan walked side by side along the riverbank, the sunset casting its glow, the river sparkling, with unidentified water birds gliding over.
Mo Xiaoyan’s cheeks blushing slightly, softly called, “Brother-in-law.”
Ye Fan murmured a sound of acknowledgment.
Mo Xiaoyan said, “Thank you.”
Ye Fan smiled silently.
“Click” — their backs were captured in an Apple phone camera. Thirty meters away, a middle-aged man in plain clothes quietly left, heading to a distant public bathroom, making a call. Once connected, he excitedly said, “Hello, Captain Fan, it’s me Zhou Chao, took a photo of Director Ye and President Mo together. Alright, I’ll send it over to you right away!”
