Chapter 804: Chapter 800: Provocation
“Brother-in-law, can you quickly send someone over? There’s a disturbance at the factory!” Mo Xiaoyan’s voice came through the phone.
Ye Fan frowned slightly and, without asking for details or reasons, directly said, “You stabilize the situation first, I’ll be there immediately.”
“Huh? Brother-in-law, you’re coming over?” Mo Xiaoyan was a bit surprised, but the call had already ended.
Ye Fan started the car and drove out of the police station.
The Mo Yan Group’s entry into Mingde County could boost the county’s GDP by a couple of percentage points and solve employment problems for many. The county committee always gave them the green light. In terms of security, it served as a warning to local thugs, so apart from a few petty steel thieves, there hadn’t really been any unpleasant incidents over at the factory.
Let alone anyone causing trouble!
Who was so clueless to cause trouble here?
Or was someone stirring up trouble behind the scenes?
Just in time to discuss investment and promotion plans with Mo Xiaoyan, Ye Fan decided to head directly there.
While driving, Ye Fan fished out his phone and called Xu Xiangli, asking her to bring a few people from the security team to go to Angel Cosmetics Factory One.
The county town wasn’t large, and Ye Fan was driving fast, arriving at Angel Cosmetics Factory One in just over ten minutes.
This land was designated as an economic development zone by the county government, with several medium and small-sized factories. Many areas were still vacant, and some were under construction, with cement trucks and dump trucks occasionally passing by, raising clouds of dust.
Angel Cosmetics Factory One was on the eastern side. From a distance, Ye Fan saw a large crowd gathered in front of the factory gate, cursing and pulling at each other. What puzzled him was that both sides of the pulling were construction workers, and there were a few engineering vehicles in front of the factory as well.
Ye Fan stopped the car, walked forward, and shouted, “What are you all doing? What’s going on?”
Despite his voice not being loud, it was penetrating, leading both sides of the confrontation, including the onlooking factory workers and several security guards, to look over in response.
A shirtless bald man stepped forward and said, “Who the hell are you?”
Ye Fan took a step forward and smiled, “I asked you first, who are you guys? Why are you causing trouble here?!”
He was tall and exuded an air of violence honed on the battlefield. Even though he was smiling, the bald man’s sense of extreme danger arose as if marked by death itself. He involuntarily took several steps back, bumping into a few workers behind him.
“Ouch, Qiang-ge, you stepped on me,” a worker behind him said.
The bald man, called Qiang-ge, snapped back to reality, wondering what kind of spell he fell under to be scared of this kid?!
His peripheral vision glanced at the car—it was just an ordinary Volkswagen, worth maybe a hundred thousand, and Qiang-ge felt more confident. He straightened up, puffed out his chest, and snorted, “Kid, do you work for this factory?”
Ye Fan shook his head.
“Is the construction team inside yours?” Qiang-ge pointed to the dozen or so workers on the other side.
Ye Fan still shook his head.
“Pfft!” Qiang-ge spat thick phlegm in front of Ye Fan, “Then who do you think you are? Stay out of it!”
From the dozen or so workers on the opposite side, a man around fifty spoke up, “Wang Qiang, stop causing trouble here. If there’s something to discuss, let’s find a place to talk privately.”
“Talk privately?” The bald Wang Qiang scoffed, poking the man’s chest with his finger, “Old Liu, we’ve talked before. I asked you to hand over the construction of this factory to me. You refused, so what’s there to discuss?!”
Old Liu took a document out of his briefcase, “Wang Qiang, the factory has already signed an employment contract with us, it’s all in black and white…”
Before he could finish, Wang Qiang snatched the contract and tore it to shreds in a few moves, spat, “What bullshit contract?! The jobs on this piece of land in the planning area have all been decided by me, Wang Qiang. You coming here to grab jobs is taking my bread and butter!”
“Based on what? When was this rule made?!”
“The planning area isn’t your home!”
“You shameless Wang!”
Behind Old Liu, several workers shouted loudly.
Mo Xiaoyan came to Ye Fan’s side and asked, “Brother-in-law, why are you here?”
Ye Fan asked, “What’s happening?”
“I’m not clear either,” Mo Xiaoyan said, “Half an hour ago, these people came to the factory construction site and started smashing things. The workshop director tried to mediate and was injured.”
Since Wang Qiang and his group were unreasonable, Mo Xiaoyan had no good reason to intervene. Moreover, getting involved would demean her status.
Ye Fan looked at the security guards behind Mo Xiaoyan; each instinctively shrunk their heads. These people were here for the paycheck, not to risk their lives. Catching petty thieves was one thing; participating in such dangerous conflicts was something they were unwilling to do.
Retracting his gaze, Ye Fan smiled at Mo Xiaoyan, “Leave this to me.”
He said and turned around to walk over.
Both sides were already bickering, and the situation was on the verge of getting out of control.
Old Liu’s side, which had signed the contract with the factory, had only a dozen people, while Wang Qiang’s side had more than thirty, mixed with seven or eight bullying figures with tattoos, holding steel pipes and hammers, clearly prepared for the confrontation.
The bald Wang Qiang had already stood in front of Old Liu, provocatively slapping Old Liu’s face, “Listen up, if you don’t get your people out of here…”
“Fuck your dad!” Suddenly, a young guy exploded with a curse from behind Old Liu and punched.
The bald Wang Qiang stepped back, a vicious glint flashing in his eyes. He picked up a club from a worker behind him with his backhand and smashed it on the young guy’s head, making him bleed as he stumbled and fell to the ground.
“Beat them to death!” The bald Wang Qiang roared, charging in and smashing wildly among the crowd.
They had more people and carried weapons, and several of Wang Qiang’s group were obviously experienced ruffians, ruthless in fighting. Soon they had Old Liu’s dozen or so workers retreating step by step.
The bald Wang Qiang knocked down a worker with a club, wanting to chase after the others when suddenly something tripped his foot, and he was sent flying, landing face-first in dirt.
He got up, turned around, and shouted, “Who the hell tripped me?!”
Ye Fan brushed off the dust on his pants, “It wasn’t me that tripped you; you just didn’t watch where you were going and ran into something.”
The bald Wang Qiang realized he had been tricked. He was a figure who walked horizontally in this area and wasn’t used to suffering such humiliation, shouting and charging forward, swinging the club towards the head of this cocky guy.
But the latter tilted his head to the right, and with a loud clang, the club hit Wang Qiang’s left shoulder instead.
It didn’t feel like it hit a shoulder but rather an iron plate, shocking Wang Qiang’s arm numb. Before he could react, Ye Fan shook his shoulder, and the club rebounded with increased speed, whistling as it smashed into Wang Qiang’s nose, shattering the nose. It didn’t lose momentum and struck his mouth next, sending Wang Qiang falling flat.
The onlookers were taken aback by this scene.
After quite a while, Wang Qiang crawled up from the ground, shaking his head, and spat out a mouthful of blood mixed with six or seven broken teeth.
The sharp wail of police sirens rang out, followed by the screech of brakes. From three police cars, more than a dozen large security officers jumped out and immediately rushed towards the workers causing trouble.
Squatting down, Ye Fan said to the bald Wang Qiang, “Didn’t you ask who I am? Listen carefully, my name is Ye Fan, Ye as in Ye Gucheng, Fan as in ordinary. I’m the commissar of the county police station. I’ll personally educate you on your behavior. Oh, actually we can start now: spitting in front of others is extremely rude.”
