Chapter 799: Chapter 795: Out of the Frying Pan into the Fire?

“Of course, I’m willing!” Mo Xiaoyan immediately said.

She paused and then added, “I’ve contacted several potential investors and the talks have been going quite well. They’ve all presented their terms, and I’m considering which investor to accept.”

Ye Fan nodded in response, “That’s good.”

He had planned to ask Mo Xiaoyan for the project proposal to have Hua Chang Investment Fund, managed by his mother, evaluate it. As long as the project had a success rate of over forty percent, he would consider helping Mo Xiaoyan with funding. After all, Mo Xiaoyan’s project still needed an investment of three hundred million, which was not a small sum, so he had to be cautious. A success rate lower than forty percent meant the risk was too high.

However, since Mo Xiaoyan already had interested investors, he decided not to say more.

“Hehe, rest assured. I can definitely manage the cosmetics project,” Mo Xiaoyan confidently declared.

Then, Mo Xiaoyan changed the topic to something else.

The two of them chatted while eating, and about fifteen minutes later, Mo Xiaoyan’s cell phone suddenly rang.

She took out her phone, didn’t answer the call, and simply pressed to dismiss it.

“Why not take the call? Being polite with me?” Ye Fan asked.

Mo Xiaoyan giggled at Ye Fan, put her phone back into her LV bag, and said, “It was a nuisance call.”

The meal went by with eating and chatting, taking nearly an hour.

After finishing their meal and walking out to the parking lot, Mo Xiaoyan joked, “Stinky brother-in-law, where do you live?”

Upon hearing this, Ye Fan couldn’t help but feel a bit of a headache.

With Mo Xiaoyan’s personality, if she knew Wei Ziling was still working as his housekeeper, she would definitely make a huge fuss.

“Why do you ask?” Ye Fan inquired with a frown.

Mo Xiaoyan giggled and said, “Of course, to come and see. If I need anything later, it’d be convenient to find you directly at your place. I can’t always run straight to the police station, right? Are you feeling guilty or something?”

“I am indeed feeling guilty,” Ye Fan admitted, “I asked you to put yourself in your sister’s shoes and think about it, how are you feeling about it now?”

Mo Xiaoyan suddenly pouted unhappily and huffed, “Can’t we talk about something pleasant? I don’t want to talk to you anymore!”

Ye Fan sighed and shook his head.

After a while, Mo Xiaoyan asked, “I’m going back to Hua Hai City tomorrow, are you going?”

“I’m not,” Ye Fan lied to Mo Xiaoyan.

He really wasn’t going to Hua Hai City tomorrow because he had just started his new job and needed to work overtime.

However, he planned to go to Hua Hai City on Sunday. He had decided to make time every week to take Li Zhaojun to visit her grandfather. Because Sunday was limited in time, and he planned to spend more time with Grandfather Li, plus he had not seen Lu Xiaoman for long after their last meeting, he did not plan to visit Lu Xiaoman at the Hua Yang Martial Arts Gym.

The two of them got into their cars and went their separate ways, with Mo Xiaoyan driving back to her villa.

To facilitate working in Mingde County, she bought a villa in the city area. After all, a villa in Mingde County was just a trifling amount for her. She didn’t want to rent another villa to live in; it was neither safe nor comfortable.

On her way back to the villa, her phone suddenly rang. She took it out and her eyebrows knit slightly, seemingly displeased, but after hesitating a moment, she still answered the call.

As soon as she picked up, she heard a young man’s chuckling voice from the phone, “Hehe, Xiaoyan, were you busy just now?”

“Xie Liping, don’t be so familiar. We’re not that close,” Mo Xiaoyan said coldly, “You called me, what’s the matter?”

“Hehe, of course, there’s a matter,” Xie Liping’s voice came through the phone, “Tomorrow is the weekend, you’ll be back in Hua Hai City, right? Let’s meet and talk more about the investment.”

Mo Xiaoyan replied, “If it’s still the same terms as before, don’t even dream about it.”

“Hehe, of course not. I’ve already managed to get better terms from my dad. Don’t worry, you will definitely be willing to accept them,” Xie Liping said.

Mo Xiaoyan hesitated for a moment, then said, “Alright. See you tomorrow at three in the afternoon.”

“Why not at five or six? After we talk about the cooperation, we could have dinner together,” Xie Liping suggested hopefully.

Mo Xiaoyan hung up the phone abruptly.

After hanging up, Mo Xiaoyan, feeling somewhat displeased, tossed her phone onto the dashboard.

She really hadn’t been in a good mood lately.

One reason was that Ye Fan consistently refused to accept her, pressing her to empathize with how Lu Xiaoman would feel about her and Ye Fan sneaking around. Although she and Lu Xiaoman had only acknowledged their sisterhood less than a year ago, their bond as twin sisters had grown very deep after half a year of contact, almost as though they had grown up together. So now, the psychological pressure on her was significant.

The second reason was that the cosmetics project was not progressing smoothly. Although the factory was nearly complete and the first batch of cosmetics had been produced, there wasn’t enough capital for marketing and entering the market. Although she had previously managed her family’s company for a few years, those were financially stable companies, and she hadn’t focused on management, following established practices. Now, under pressure, she was making an effort to run a company for the first time. Therefore, due to lack of experience coupled with haste under stress, she found herself in an awkward situation.

The next morning, Mo Xiaoyan drove back to Hua Hai City.

Upon her return to Hua Hai City, she first visited Lu Xiaoman at the Hua Yang Martial Arts Gym.

At noon, she had lunch with Lu Xiaoman.

After lunch with Lu Xiaoman, she drove back to her villa in Hua Hai City to rest.

She needed to conserve her energy for the afternoon meeting with Xie Liping to discuss the investment.

Although she knew Xie Liping had ulterior motives, the terms from other investors were very harsh, and the terms offered by Xie Liping were the best, excluding his personal conditions.

The reason she hadn’t outright rejected Xie Liping was that she was harboring the slim hope of pulling off a tricky move.

At three in the afternoon, in a fancy casual cafe tea house, Mo Xiaoyan arrived on time.

She knocked on the door, which opened quickly to reveal a handsome smiling face and a tall figure dressed in designer casual wear.

“Hehe, Miss Mo, please,” Xie Liping greeted with a smile, making a gentlemanly gesture towards Mo Xiaoyan.

Mo Xiaoyan, with a serene expression, walked in.

After sitting face to face, Xie Liping smiled and asked, “What would you like to drink?”

“Just water,” Mo Xiaoyan replied indifferently.

“Sure thing!” Xie Liping chuckled, snapped his fingers, and then pressed the service bell.

Soon, a waiter entered and Xie Liping ordered two glasses of water.

After the waiter left, Xie Liping looked at Mo Xiaoyan’s beautiful face and expressed a pained expression, “You’ve lost weight recently. Work has been tough, right?”

“It’s none of your concern,” Mo Xiaoyan said coolly.

Xie Liping was accustomed to Mo Xiaoyan’s curt manner, so he didn’t seem embarrassed. Continuing to smile, he said, “Still, to speak frankly, it’s only natural for your company to be labor-intensive at the start. I hope you don’t focus solely on work; take some time to relax. It’s important to balance work and leisure, after all.”
