Chapter 793: Chapter 789: Seeing Through It?

“After you took your leave, since it lasted for several months, people began to think you wouldn’t come back,” Xu Xiangli said.

As she spoke, she reached out to place Ye Fan’s arm in front of her chest, embracing it and leaning against his side.

Ye Fan felt his arm sink into two unusually soft mounds and frowned slightly, but he restrained himself.

Xu Xiangli continued, “So, some people got ideas.”

Ye Fan nodded. He had only been working at the Mingde County Police Station for a few months before he suddenly left for several months, so it was inevitable that people would think he wouldn’t come back.

“It was Wang Xianzhong who led the internal strife,” said Xu Xiangli.

Ye Fan uttered a “hmm” in response, but didn’t say anything directly. Right now it was just Xu Xiangli’s one-sided story, which, although credible to a certain extent, couldn’t be taken as conclusive.

“Now that you’re back, it’s really great,” Xu Xiangli said, tightening her grip on Ye Fan’s arm. “With you back, we have a pillar of strength again.”

Feeling even more the size and softness of Xu Xiangli, Ye Fan coughed and shrank his arm back, saying, “Don’t you feel hot?”

“Hehe, I’m fine,” Xu Xiangli replied, releasing Ye Fan’s arm.

As Xu Xiangli let go of his arm, Ye Fan stood up, not giving her any chances.

Xu Xiangli also stood up, and seeing that Ye Fan was about to leave the bedroom, she immediately said, “Leader, I’ll find you a quilt.”

She walked towards the wooden wardrobe opposite the bed, opened the wardrobe doors, and bent over to look for a quilt.

She was wearing a knee-length police skirt, and from Ye Fan’s point of view, bending over as she was, he undoubtedly could have seen much that would make the blood race. Unfortunately, Ye Fan immediately turned and walked out of the bedroom.

A little while later, Xu Xiangli took out a pink quilt.

“You might not like the color, but it’s just for two nights,” she said to Ye Fan.

Ye Fan sat on the sofa, glanced at the quilt, and nodded, “Thanks a lot.”

Then he added, “It would be best to find a bag to put it in.”

Xu Xiangli understood what Ye Fan meant, worrying that if it was seen by others when taken out, it could lead to indelible rumors.

“Got it,” she said, and immediately went to find a bag.

A few minutes later, Xu Xiangli came back with a red cloth bag and packed the quilt inside.

Having received the quilt, Ye Fan didn’t linger, rising to leave Xu Xiangli’s dormitory. Xu Xiangli also left her room with him.

After descending to the fourth floor, Ye Fan stopped, turned to Xu Xiangli, and said, “Thanks for your help tonight, you still have to be on duty, so I won’t bother you any further.”

“It’s no bother. I’m off to my duty now, but if you need anything, just call me,” Xu Xiangli said. After speaking, she waved her jade-like hand goodbye and continued down the stairs.

Having sent Xu Xiangli off, Ye Fan breathed a sigh of relief, took out his keys, and entered his dormitory.

After placing Xu Xiangli’s quilt and the bag on the bed, Ye Fan went out to the small living room to rest.

After resting for a few minutes, he took out his phone to check the time; it was already past eleven.

Thinking of his purpose for staying overnight at the unit’s dormitory, Ye Fan dialed Zhao Lina’s number.

The call connected quickly, and Ye Fan said, “Lina, I’ve reached the dormitory.”

“Mm-hmm. You go to the living room to get ready to open the door, I’m coming over to you,” came Zhao Lina’s voice from the phone.

Ye Fan immediately exclaimed, “Don’t. My dorm has been uninhabited for too long. It’s all moldy. Let me come to speak with you instead.”

He was using Xu Xiangli’s sheets now; if Zhao Lina found out, the consequences would be severe.

“Fine,” Zhao Lina said. “Are you coming over now? I’ll head to the living room and open the door.”

“Mm-hmm,” Ye Fan responded.

After hanging up, Ye Fan left his dorm and knocked on the door opposite.

The door swung open immediately, and Ye Fan quickly entered, with the door closing promptly behind him.

Entering Zhao Lina’s dorm, Ye Fan walked a few steps inside then turned to take a good look at Zhao Lina.

Zhao Lina wore a silk black robe that contrasted with her fair, creamy-white skin, making her irresistibly tempting. Furthermore, her long hair fell loosely over her shoulders, her beautiful face wore a smile, and her exceptionally full bosom almost seemed to burst through her nightgown, giving off a laid-back, noblewoman’s air that made one itch to pounce on her and conquer.

“Do you like what you see?” Zhao Lina, of course, noticed Ye Fan’s scorching gaze. Instead of avoiding it, she took the initiative to ask.

Ye Fan nodded, saying, “Very much. It’s irresistible.”

Saying this, he stepped forward, wrapped his arms around Zhao Lina, and bent down to kiss her fervently.

Zhao Lina was far from rejecting, instead, she passionately encircled Ye Fan’s neck with her slender arms, responding fervently.

Their passionate kisses took them from the small living room to the bedroom, finally collapsing onto the bed.

After kissing intensely for more than ten minutes, and just as Zhao Lina was about to suffocate, Ye Fan finally released her.

They lay side by side on the bed, gasping for air.

After a while, Zhao Lina sat up and asked, “You’ve been away on a mission for so long, I thought something happened to you.”

“Heh, haven’t I said before? I’ll be fine,” Ye Fan also sat up, facing Zhao Lina.

“Mm, I know you’re the best,” Zhao Lina said with a nod, smiling.

Suddenly, Ye Fan remembered watching Zhao Lina as he entered; she had a smile hanging on her beautiful face too.

He couldn’t help but ask, “Lina, have you… forgiven me now?”

Zhao Lina pondered briefly and said, “There’s nothing to forgive or not forgive. In the months you were gone, I indeed found true peace and came to terms with some things. Being intentionally cold to you before didn’t do either of us any good. Let’s just think of it as a romance that didn’t work out in the end.”

Actually, the main reason was the sexual encounter they had during the New Year, which subconsciously made her feel like she had ‘had’ Ye Fan, and since then, she didn’t hate him as much. After months of cooling down, she finally wasn’t consumed by her grudge.

Listening, Ye Fan felt a rush of guilt and said, “Lina, I’m sorry.”

“Don’t say sorry. If you really feel sorry, then divorce Li Zhaojun and marry me,” Zhao Lina said.

Ye Fan gave a bitter laugh.

“Hehe, just kidding!” Zhao Lina laughed playfully. “Even if you wanted to marry me, I wouldn’t be happy about it, you heartbreaker.”

With that, she straightened her knees, extended her creamy, lotus-root-like arms around Ye Fan’s neck, and leaned her upper body toward him.

Ye Fan caught Zhao Lina just in time and resumed their passionate kissing, with clothes and nightgown slipping off, and finally…

They carried on until past four in the early morning when they finally stopped. Zhao Lina lay against Ye Fan’s strong, broad chest, her face still flushed with a rosy afterglow, looking utterly satisfied and happy.

After resting for a while, Ye Fan patted Zhao Lina and said, “I need to go back.”

“I really don’t want you to leave,” Zhao Lina pouted. Although reluctant, she still got off Ye Fan.

Ye Fan dressed, bent down to kiss Zhao Lina’s fragrant lips, then left the bedroom, exited Zhao Lina’s dorm, and entered his own.
