543: Chapter 539 Confessing to Zhao Lina (Part 2) 543: Chapter 539 Confessing to Zhao Lina (Part 2) Zhao Lina pressed Ye Fan down onto the couch and passionately kissed his lips for a good five or six minutes before letting go.
“Hmm, not a bad taste,” Zhao Lina commented as she stepped off Ye Fan’s lap and casually fixed her clothes, which had gotten disheveled.
Ye Fan gave a silent, bitter smile; he probably understood what Zhao Lina meant.
She must have known something and had a feeling they might break up soon—that kiss was likely their last.
But, did he really have it easy with her?
Ye Fan didn’t believe that at all, mentally preparing himself to be severely wounded and sent to the hospital.
He reached for the bottle of wine and poured two more glasses.
“Clink,” Ye Fan and Zhao Lina toasted, then each took a sip of red wine.
“Lina, go select a song to sing,” Ye Fan suggested to Zhao Lina.
Although he had boasted about being a ballad prince earlier, he wasn’t planning on doing karaoke.
Unexpectedly, Zhao Lina remained motionless on the couch and said, “You go.”
“Alright, I’ll help you select one.
What do you want to sing?” Ye Fan assumed Zhao Lina was just too lazy to pick a song.
Zhao Lina replied, “Don’t bother selecting for me; you sing, I’ll listen.”
“It was your idea to come to the KTV; you mean you won’t sing?” Ye Fan pressed.
Zhao Lina matter-of-factly said, “Yes, I won’t sing.
Just go select a song and perform alone, stop dawdling.”
“Fine.
I’ll sing a couple first, then maybe you’ll feel like joining in after,” Ye Fan reluctantly agreed, heading to the karaoke machine where he selected two songs he knew well.
Zhao Lina crossed her legs on the sofa, sipping wine occasionally as she leaned back, somewhat eagerly anticipating Ye Fan’s performance.
However, to date, Ye Fan still wasn’t familiar with many KTV songs and didn’t like to show off.
Therefore, instead of selecting “Only Love” or “She Said,” his own tracks, he chose “Spring Mud,” a song he had sung before.
“The sky is cluttered with words falling around my ears,
You and I remain silent, not responding.
I hold your hand, and you cry, your eyes turning red,
The road ahead appears endless…”
As Ye Fan started to sing passionately, he suddenly realized that “Spring Mud” somewhat resonated with his current situation.
For a moment, his emotions almost completely resonated with the song, and he immersed himself in its sentiment, singing his heart out—an improvement over his previous attempts by a notch.
Zhao Lina had never really believed Ye Fan’s claims of being a ballad prince, thinking it good enough if he stayed on key.
However, as soon as Ye Fan started to sing, his pure, magnetic voice took her by surprise; her mouth fell open slightly before she quickly became engulfed by his singing.
“… The painful memories settle in the spring’s soil,
Nurturing the earth to blossom anew,
In the wind, your tears drip, drop by drop, into our memories,
Let’s name it cherishing…”
As Ye Fan sang emotionally, Zhao Lina couldn’t help but think about the likely imminent breakup with Ye Fan.
Unable to hold back her tears, they began to stream down her face.
“… In the wind, your tears drip, drop by drop, into our memories,
Let’s name it cherishing,
Teaching us to learn how to cherish.”
“Spring Mud” finally came to an end, but both Ye Fan and Zhao Lina were still lost in its poignant atmosphere, not even realizing when the next song started.
After over a minute, Ye Fan came to his senses and turned to see Zhao Lina.
Finally snapping out of it, Zhao Lina wiped the tear stains from her pretty face and scolded, “Damn Ye Fan, why did you have to sing such a sad song?
Now I have to fix my makeup!”
After she finished speaking, she stood up and rushed into the luxurious restroom attached to the private room.
Ye Fan wore a wry smile, he didn’t actually want to sing the song that just so happened to be fitting for the occasion.
Although the second song had already started, he wasn’t in the mood to sing and muted the sound system, sat back on the sofa, and started drinking red wine with a displeased taste.
About four or five minutes later, Zhao Lina finally came out of the restroom after touching up her makeup.
She walked over to Ye Fan, sat down beside him, puckered her lips toward the large LCD screen and said, “Why aren’t you singing?
Come on, sing a cheerful song for me to brighten the mood.”
“Big sister, my foot!” Ye Fan retorted, reaching out and tightly squeezing Zhao Lina’s slender waist.
Zhao Lina playfully chided, “Stop it,” then pushed his hand away, stood up, went over to the karaoke machine, looked back at him, and asked, “What else can you sing?
I’ll select it for you.”
“Aren’t you going to sing?” Ye Fan asked.
“No!” Zhao Lina hummed, “Hurry up and tell me.
Ms.
Lina is helping you pick the song, do you think you always get this kind of treatment?”
Reluctantly, Ye Fan listed two of the few songs he knew.
Zhao Lina picked the songs for Ye Fan, turned around, walked back to the sofa, and listened to Ye Fan sing.
A few minutes later, after Ye Fan finished one song, Zhao Lina couldn’t help but look at him with sparkling eyes and teased, “Ye Fan, I didn’t see it coming—turns out you have quite the knack for singing.”
“Hehe, it’s been so long, don’t you already know that I’m a low-key guy with substance?” Ye Fan boasted proudly.
Zhao Lina immediately gave Ye Fan a contemptuous look and disdainfully said, “Please, who’s paying attention to you!”
At that moment, the third song was about to start; Ye Fan smiled and then began to sing earnestly.
As the evening progressed, Zhao Lina didn’t sing at all, and Ye Fan guessed that she might be tone-deaf.
But Ye Fan sang all the songs he knew.
He didn’t know many, so he sang both “Only Love” and “She Said.”
When Zhao Lina heard Ye Fan sing “Only Love” and “She Said,” she was so spellbound by his heartfelt performance that she stared at him dreamily.
After Ye Fan finished those two songs, she couldn’t help but ask, “Ye Fan, were you a singer before?”
“I was a soldier, you know that,” Ye Fan laughed, “Heh, were you mesmerized by my singing?
Want to be my crazy fan, crying and begging to devote yourself to me?”
“Keep dreaming!” Zhao Lina shot him two scornful and disdainful looks.
Ye Fan couldn’t sing for long alone, so after a while, he would have a drink with Zhao Lina and exchange a few playful banters.
Unknowingly, the two played until it was past eleven o’clock at night.
Stepping out of the KTV, Zhao Lina clung to Ye Fan’s arm as they walked together towards the parking lot.
Ye Fan felt a bit of regret inside, not expecting the day to pass by without discussing any serious matters.
However, before he could finish his thought, he suddenly felt an icy sensation around his wrist.
By the time he realized what was happening, his hands were already securely handcuffed behind his back.
Caught by surprise, just as he was about to speak, Zhao Lina forcefully pressed him face-first against the car with a “bang.”
She pushed him harshly against the car with her body bearing down from behind.
“Kid, someone alerted me that you molested, attempted to rape, and deceived someone emotionally!” Zhao Lina’s cold voice commanded, “Come back with me and explain yourself clearly!
If you dare resist, I’ll teach you a painful lesson!”
Ye Fan felt the muzzle of a gun pressing against the back of his head.
“Lina,” he called out with a wry smile.
Zhao Lina coldly responded, “Lina?
Call me Captain Zhao!
Don’t try to cozy up to me!”
Rebuking him, she roughly shoved Ye Fan into the car, then drove quickly toward the police station.
