Chapter 189: Chapter 189: [Extra] Come with Me

After the argument with Tan Bo, Jiang Yurou hadn’t seen him again, nor had she received a single call or text message from him.

It was Xinan who had made a call once, asking if she had fought with Tan Bo, but Jiang Yurou had fobbed her off.

As the days went by, Jiang Yurou’s cooking skills improved more and more.

One day, as Jiang Yurou was busy in the kitchen, a knock at the door suddenly sounded. Thinking it might be Zhou Ming who hadn’t brought his keys, she gave it no further thought and went to open the door.

But when she saw the person standing outside, Jiang Yurou was stunned and even forgot to put down the spatula in her hand. It took a moment before she slowly found her voice, "Brother Tan Bo, you... why have you come?"

Jiang Yurou was wearing an apron, her hair pinned up behind her head, and her face was smecked with a bit of grease. Seeing her like this, Tan Bo was also taken aback.

Smelling the scent of burning coming from the kitchen, Jiang Yurou couldn’t linger to chat with Tan Bo, and simply said, "I’m in the middle of cooking, please come in and have a seat."

With that, she turned and ran back to the kitchen.

A few days earlier, when Xinan mentioned Jiang Yurou was learning to cook, Tan Bo had been somewhat skeptical. But now it appeared to be true. Jiang Yurou was indeed learning to cook, and it was all for that man.

Watching the busy figure in the kitchen, Tan Bo felt a pang in his heart. Jiang Yurou had never liked cooking or the smell of grease, but now she was willingly doing these things she once despised for Zhou Ming.

Tan Bo glanced around the house, which was even smaller than half the size of his living room, and simply couldn’t imagine Jiang Yurou living in such a place during this period.

The woman he had cherished so dearly, whom he’d handled with such care, was now living in poverty with another man. His mood plummeted in an instant, a mix of indescribable anger and sorrow filled his heart.

While Tan Bo was taking in his surroundings, Jiang Yurou came out with two steaming dishes.

She placed the dishes in front of Tan Bo and then said, "I’ve just started learning recently, so it might not be that great."

Tan Bo looked at the dishes before him with mixed feelings. He had never wanted her to have to cook before...

He said nothing, but took a bite of the food with his chopsticks, "It’s delicious, you’ve done a great job."

As far as he was concerned, anything Jiang Yurou made was the most delicious food in the world, no matter what it was.

Hearing Tan Bo’s generous praise, Jiang Yurou was overjoyed and asked with a smile, "Really?"

Tan Bo: "Yes, really."

"Then if you’ve eaten my food, don’t be mad at me anymore," Jiang Yurou began to lay the groundwork for addressing the previous unpleasantness.

Tan Bo paused mid-bite, looking up at Jiang Yurou: "I haven’t been mad at you for a long time. I actually came this time to apologize to you about that."

He continued, "Last time... the things I said were said in anger, don’t take them to heart."

Jiang Yurou smiled and said indifferently, "We’ve known each other for so long, don’t I know which of your words are true and which are false?"

Just a single sentence, and all the previous unhappiness vanished like smoke in the wind.

Jiang Yurou had never been one to hold a grudge. Since Tan Bo had come to her, it showed he was already making amends, so there was no need for her to cling onto those unpleasant memories.

"Where is he?" Tan Bo suddenly asked.

Jiang Yurou knew that ’he’ Tan Bo referred to was Zhou Ming.

"He’s out working."

"Is he this busy every day?" So busy he doesn’t even have time to spend with you.

Jiang Yurou nodded and then shook her head, "Although he’s really busy, he’s very good to me. As long as I can be by his side, I’m content."

After dinner, Jiang Yurou instinctively stood up to start clearing the table, but as soon as her hand touched the dishes, Tan Bo stopped her.

"Let me do it," he said.

If it had been before, Jiang Yurou would certainly have let Tan Bo wash them, but now that she was with Zhou Ming, it seemed somewhat inappropriate to have Tan Bo do these things.

Jiang Yurou shook her head, starting to say to Tan Bo the polite words she had never said before, "No need, you’re a guest, let me do it."

But even as she said so, Tan Bo’s hands made no move. He gazed into Jiang Yurou’s eyes and said, "Rourou, you never need to do these things in front of me."

Unable to argue with Tan Bo, in the end, he was the one who washed the dishes, and he even wiped the table.

When Tan Bo was about to leave, he suddenly grasped Jiang Yurou’s hand, his voice deep and slightly hoarse, "Rourou, come with me, he can’t give you the life you want."

But Jiang Yurou slowly withdrew her hand, smiling at Tan Bo, "Brother Tan Bo, we’ve only just begun. How do you know he can’t give me the life I want?"

"But he has nothing," said Tan Bo.

Jiang Yurou replied, "It’s okay, I’m willing to struggle alongside him. I believe that as long as we’re willing to work hard, we’ll eventually have everything we want."

"Rourou, I’ve never been willing to let you cook or clean, but look at what you’re doing now?"

The sight of the calluses on Jiang Yurou’s hands had pained his heart.

He really wanted to hold Jiang Yurou in his arms and cherish her properly, but there was nothing he could do. He had no right.

"Brother Tan Bo, people have to grow up. I can’t live under your protection forever," she said with conviction in her eyes.

Hearing her answer, Tan Bo was stunned. It took him a moment before he could respond, "Are you sure?"

"Mhm." Jiang Yurou nodded and said, "I’ve thought about it. I’ve been very happy with him during this time."

"Good," Tan Bo took another look at Jiang Yurou, then walked out, leaving behind only one sentence, "Just don’t regret it."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Yurou couldn’t help but give a wry smile. This guy always said things that were both laughable and tear-inducing, but she had no recourse.

"I won’t regret it." That was Jiang Yurou’s answer to him.

After Tan Bo left, Zhou Ming came back.

Seeing the fatigue on Zhou Ming’s face, Jiang Yurou quickly went to hand him his slippers, her eyes filled with concern, "Zhou Ming, why don’t you take a day off tomorrow? After all, health is the real wealth."

Zhou Ming slipped on the slippers and walked straight inside, shaking his head at Jiang Yurou’s words, "I can’t stop. Lezhi’s treatment will need a lot of money later on."

Jiang Yurou sighed softly, not saying anything further.

Zhou Ming patted her head, comforting her, "Don’t worry, I have it all figured out."

"Alright, you must be starving after a day’s work. I’ll go heat up the food for you," Jiang Yurou said as she rose and walked into the kitchen.

Watching Jiang Yurou’s retreating figure, Zhou Ming shook his head helplessly, his lips curving into a slight smile.
