Chapter 170: Chapter 170: [Extra] I Really Like It
Tan Bo still had a cold expression on his face and didn’t even look at her. "Since you know it would make people worry, then why did you still go looking for that man?"
Jiang Yurou felt like a child who had done something wrong, waiting to be scolded by a parent, feeling out of sorts everywhere.
"He’s not a bad person, so why can’t I go see him?"
Tan Bo was directly amused to anger. "He’s not a bad person? How handsome must he be to get someone who usually sleeps until eleven or twelve to get up early in the morning to meet him?"
"Am I as lazy as you say?" she defended. In fact, she sometimes got up early too.
Tan Bo frowned, "Don’t change the subject."
"Oh, but he really isn’t a bad person, you know. Look, I’ve come back safely, haven’t I?"
Tan Bo snorted coldly, "You’ve come back safely this time, but what about next time? Are you so sure that man doesn’t have other intentions towards you?"
"Just put your mind at ease, he has no other intentions towards me..." otherwise she wouldn’t have come back so early.
Tan Bo glanced at the girl beside him, "You’re still too naive."
"Ah, Brother Tan Bo, stop being mad, I promise I’ll get your approval before I go anywhere in the future."
"Really?" Tan Bo’s tone softened slightly.
"Of course." After all, the legs were on her body; she could just sneak off to see Zhou Ming.
With that, Jiang Yurou pulled out a string of candied hawthorns from behind her. "Look what I brought you."
Tan Bo’s heart skipped a beat when he saw the candied hawthorns. He stared blankly at Jiang Yurou, "Where... did you get these?"
Nowadays, it was rare to see vendors selling candied hawthorns in Jing City.
"Don’t worry about that, do you not like it? I remember you used to love eating this as a kid, always asking to buy it."
Tan Bo shook his head as he snapped back to reality, "No, I like it a lot."
But it wasn’t the candied hawthorns he liked; it was the person giving them.
How many men are there who like sweets? He only bought them often in the past to make her happy. He had never expected the girl to actually think he liked them.
Perhaps she had him in her heart as well...
"That’s good," Jiang Yurou said, smiling as she shoved the candied hawthorns into Tan Bo’s hands. "Try it, I’ve heard that when you’re in a bad mood, eating something sweet will make you happy, so after you eat this, don’t be mad at me anymore."
Tan Bo held the candied hawthorns in his palm, looking at them over and over again, his eyes filled with nostalgia and affection. Then he took a bite, the sweet and sour taste indeed making his mood a lot smoother. If only Jiang Yurou could always comfort him like this...
"Is it good?" Jiang Yurou asked.
"It’s alright."
Jiang Yurou tilted her head to look at him, with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Are you still mad at me?"
The sugar melted in his mouth, along with the anger in Tan Bo’s heart, and he sighed, "I’m not mad anymore."
In fact, the moment you got on the car, he was already not mad anymore.
Hearing him say this, Jiang Yurou immediately brightened up. "Tan Xiaobo, you’re really the best."
Tan Bo looked away, gazing out of the window with a profound look, "What else can I do, after all, in this world... you’ll never find another man who treats you as well as I do."
His voice was somewhat low and resigned, but Jiang Yurou didn’t detect anything unusual. With eyes smiling, she agreed, "Of course, you’re my bestie after all."
Tan Bo didn’t react and quickly changed the subject, "Hungry?"
No sooner had he asked than Jiang Yurou’s stomach cooperated with a rumble.
The two exchanged a smile, and Tan Bo asked, "What would you like to eat?"
"Sichuan cuisine."
With that, Tan Bo took Jiang Yurou to a nearby Sichuan restaurant and booked a private room.
Jiang Yurou ordered all the dishes, and soon the waiter brought the steaming dishes: steamed pork ribs with rice flour, spicy diced chicken, stir-fried pork intestine, and a plate of cold shredded potatoes.
As soon as the dishes were served, Tan Bo poured a cup of tea for Jiang Yurou, "Rinse your mouth first."
Jiang Yurou wasn’t usually so particular about dining etiquette, but Tan Bo always poured tea for her before they ate, so she was accustomed to it and naturally took a sip before spitting it back out.
"Eat up," Tan Bo had already seen that Jiang Yurou was famished.
In front of Tan Bo, Jiang Yurou certainly wasn’t shy and didn’t care about her image. She picked up her chopsticks and grabbed a steamed pork rib, exclaiming, "This is absolutely amazing!"
Jiang Yurou ate messily, but Tan Bo didn’t show any distaste. Instead, he deftly handed her a napkin, just short of wiping her mouth for her.
After dinner, Tan Bo drove Jiang Yurou back to her apartment. His car stopped in front of the building, and Jiang Yurou said to him, "Thanks for dinner, I’ll head back inside now~"
Saying that, Jiang Yurou smiled broadly, unbuckled her seatbelt, and prepared to get out of the car.
But just as she was about to leave, Tan Bo grabbed her hand, "Wait, I’ll come up with you."
"Ah?" Jiang Yurou’s smile froze on her face.
"I just realized it’s getting late, so you wouldn’t mind me staying over for the night, right?" said Tan Bo, unbuckling his seatbelt and looking at Jiang Yurou in the passenger seat with a playful glint in his eyes.
Without thinking, Jiang Yurou blurted out, "I do mind, I really mind!"
If Tan Bo stayed over tonight, how could she go find Zhou Ming tomorrow? She had already promised!
"Hmm?" Tan Bo’s eyes showed a dangerous gleam.
Seeing Tan Bo’s expression change, Jiang Yurou quickly put on an ingratiating smile and said hurriedly, "It’s not that you can’t stay at my place; it’s just that my place is really messy right now, and I’d rather you not see it in that state. How about this? I’ll book you a hotel, and I’ll pay."
Tan Bo shook his head with a hooked smile, "No worries, I’ve stayed in all sorts of places as Tan Bo; what’s a little mess? I can help you clean up, right?"
Although Jiang Yurou really did want Tan Bo to help tidy her place, what about Zhou Ming? Such a tough choice!
Seeing Jiang Yurou undecided, Tan Bo leaned in close, looking into her eyes and asked, "You really don’t want me at your place—did you hide something there you don’t want seen? Or..."
His gaze suddenly grew cold, "Are you actually planning to meet that other guy tomorrow?"
At this point, Jiang Yurou felt like banging her head against the wall. Tan Bo would have made a great psychologist—it was a shame that he could guess everything!
Jiang Yurou let out a forced laugh, "How... How could that be? I just want to sleep in tomorrow. If you come, I’d have to make breakfast for you. I can’t just let a guest go hungry."
"No worries, I’ll make breakfast, and I’ll include your portion too."
