Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Indeed My Godson
Cheng Yi had stayed by Xinan’s side all night, keeping her hand in his, as if afraid she would disappear the next second.
So when Xinan woke up the next day, the first face she saw was Cheng Yi’s.
Seeing the dark circles under Cheng Yi’s eyes, Xinan tenderly touched his face.
Cheng Yi was a light sleeper and immediately woke up feeling the warmth on his face, "Nannan, are you awake? Are you hungry? Do you want to eat something?"
"Cheng Yi, I want to see the baby first."
"Okay, I’ll bring him over."
The baby was in a crib nearby, the tiny one sleeping with eyes closed, mouth slightly curved in a dreamy happiness.
Cheng Yi carefully brought him up to Xinan. The baby hadn’t opened his eyes yet, his skin was as white as snow, just like an angel.
"Nannan, the baby is adorable."
Xinan reached out and gently touched his small face, as if touching the most precious treasure. This was the child she had carried for ten months, the fruit of her and Cheng Yi’s love...
Xinan couldn’t find the words to describe her feelings, only that they were complex, a bit joyful, yet somewhat bewildering; she was actually a mother now, a feeling incredibly wonderful.
"Nannan, what do you want to name the baby?" asked Cheng Yi.
Actually, they had discussed this before. If it was a boy, they agreed on Cheng Munan, nicknamed Nanzai, and if a girl, Cheng Xuxi, with the nickname Yu Di.
But as it had been a while, Cheng Yi was worried Xinan might have thought of other names, so he decided to ask again.
Xinan replied, "Didn’t we agree on Cheng Munan for a boy?"
Cheng Yi smiled and nodded, "Alright, let’s go with that."
Xinan looked at Little Nan for a while longer, finding him more and more lovely by the moment, utterly irresistible.
Seeing this, Cheng Yi softly chuckled, "Nannan, let’s eat first."
Having exhausted herself giving birth the night before, Xinan was indeed quite hungry. She nodded, "I’d like something light."
"Alright, I’ll have the nurse bring something over right away." Cheng Yi put Nanzai back in the crib and then walked towards the door. Soon after, a nurse came in with a food trolley.
Since Xinan was in the hospital’s most luxurious VIP room, it was well equipped. Not only were there professional nursing staff, but also a physician and a nutritionist, ensuring the best care and provisions.
Just after dinner, there was a knock on the room door.
Cheng Yi went to open it. Jiang Yurou rushed in first; Tan Bo walked in slowly behind her, carrying a fruit basket.
"Nannan, where’s my godson? Let me see him!" Jiang Yurou hurriedly ran to Xinan’s bedside, looking left and right, but didn’t see the child.
Smiling, Xinan replied, "In the crib."
Only then did Jiang Yurou notice the crib nearby. She walked over and when she saw the little one, small like a pea, her eyes sparkled, and she couldn’t resist touching his little face.
Feeling the touch, Nanzai’s mouth twitched slightly. That fleeting movement instantly captured Jiang Yurou, "Nannan, may I hold him?"
"Of course, but be careful."
Jiang Yurou carefully picked up Nanzai, feeling his softness, which felt incredibly comforting.
"Tan Bo, come quickly and look, he’s really adorable."
Tan Bo did walk over and when he saw the little one in Jiang Yurou’s arms, his eyes also carried a gentle smile, "He really is adorable, worthy of being my godson."
Jiang Yurou rolled her eyes, thinking that anyone who didn’t know better might think the child was his.
Jiang Yurou gently patted Little Nan’s bottom, suddenly remembered something, and asked aloud, "By the way, what’s his name?"
"Cheng Munan, his nickname is Nanzai," Cheng Yi replied.
"That’s a nice name." Jiang Yurou looked at the little guy and called him "Little Nan."
But Nanzai was really too small now, he couldn’t even open his eyes, so he had no reaction to hearing his name.
Jiang Yurou didn’t hold Nanzai for too long because a nurse came in after a while and took Nanzai away to feed him.
Seeing the reluctant look on Jiang Yurou’s face, Xinan couldn’t help but tease her, "Rourou, since you like kids so much, why not just find someone and get married, and have your own little baby?"
Jiang Yurou sighed deeply, "I would like to, but the one I’m interested in isn’t interested in me."
Then, she suddenly got an idea, "Nannan, what if I just go and force a marriage proposal on him, maybe in a moment of madness he’ll agree?"
As soon as Jiang Yurou spoke, Tan Bo, who was drinking water on the side, suddenly coughed violently and almost choked.
He took a moment to recover, and looked at her incredulously, "Jiang Yurou, do you know what you’re saying? Have you lost your mind or were you hit by a car, to come up with something like that!"
Tan Bo’s words immediately annoyed Jiang Yurou, "I’m not forcing you to marry me, why are you making such a big deal?"
"How long have you known that man? Do you know his family background, can he provide the life you want, can you be happy with him..."
Tan Bo’s barrage of questions baffled Jiang Yurou, she retorted, "Whether I’m happy or not with someone isn’t really your concern, is it?"
As soon as Jiang Yurou said it, she regretted it. That wasn’t what she meant; she had just been angered by Tan Bo and had blurted out those words in the heat of the moment.
"Heh," Tan Bo laughed shortly, a hint of mockery in his eyes, "You’re right, who you end up with and whether you’re happy isn’t really my concern."
"Tan..." Jiang Yurou just wanted to apologize to Tan Bo, but before she could say anything, he had already stormed out.
Xinan and Cheng Yi exchanged glances, and Cheng Yi shook his head helplessly before following out, leaving only Xinan and Jiang Yurou in the ward.
"Rourou, although Brother Tan Bo’s words were harsh, he meant well," Xinan began to console Jiang Yurou.
"I know." That’s why she felt regret after saying those words just now.
Xinan thought for a moment, then asked, "Rourou, do you really like Zhou Ming?"
Jiang Yurou nodded, "Mmm, I really do like him."
"Okay, if you truly like him, then I support you, but what you said earlier was indeed impulsive. It’s better to take things one step at a time."
As a friend, Xinan of course supported her friend’s choices unconditionally.
"Okay." Jiang Yurou said and suddenly walked up to Xinan, handing her a gift box, "This is for my godson. Godmom is really short on money right now, so I hope he won’t mind."
"My son isn’t so superficial. It’s the thought that counts."
With that, both of them laughed.
