Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Production

Because it was her first time having a baby, Xinan didn’t understand many things, so when the baby was five months old, she enrolled in a prenatal class.

After taking this course, Xinan’s days were especially fulfilling. She would get up in the morning, eat breakfast, go to class, and in the afternoon, she would come back home to read books related to pregnancy and baby care. Then she would chat with Cheng Yi and watch movies. Life was leisurely and comfortable.

Speaking of watching movies, one evening, Xinan suddenly decided to watch "Titanic" again.

Xinan had watched this movie for the first time back in high school. Perhaps because she was pregnant, her emotions were easily affected; after watching it, she ended up crying even more heart-wrenchingly than the first time she saw it.

Especially when Rose let go of Jack and he sank into the ocean depths, her tears wouldn’t stop falling.

Cheng Yi was with Xinan the whole time. After finishing the movie, he felt it was just okay and, although he didn’t really understand it, he still helplessly shook his head and passed tissues to Xinan.

Seeing that Cheng Yi wasn’t affected, Xinan felt somewhat suffocated as she accepted the tissue from his hand and looked up at him, "Don’t you find this movie touching?"

Cheng Yi handed her another tissue and nodded with a smile, "Yeah, it is quite touching."

"Then how come you don’t cry?"

Cheng Yi’s eyes gleamed with a deep sense of amusement as he gently stroked Xinan’s hair, speaking somewhat helplessly, "Baby, not everyone expresses their inner emotions by crying."

"So you mean to say that I’m a crybaby?" she raised her eyebrows, looking unconvinced.

Watching her acting all indignant, Cheng Yi couldn’t help but chuckle and kissed her forehead, "Silly girl, how could that be the case."

"You’re just... implying that," she spoke, feeling incredibly aggrieved in her heart, and eventually, she just started crying loudly.

Seeing her like this, Cheng Yi felt helpless for the first time. He quickly pulled out tissues to wipe her tears.

After crying for a while, Xinan spoke with a sob, "I need a tissue to blow my nose."

Cheng Yi reached for a tissue but found none; the tissues in the box had all been used up by Xinan.

"Baby, you’ve used up all the tissues," Cheng Yi said with an innocent look on his face.

Xinan pursed her lips, "What am I supposed to do, I feel the snot coming."

"Wipe it on me," Cheng Yi suggested, picking up his own immaculate white T-shirt, revealing his taut, sexy abs and Adonis belt.

"But it’s so dirty."

"It’s alright, I don’t mind," Cheng Yi said seriously.

Xinan frowned, hesitated for two seconds, but in the end, she couldn’t break through that barrier and went to the restroom herself.

Later on, as the months of the pregnancy advanced, Cheng Yi, fearing that Xinan would overexert herself, wouldn’t let her go to prenatal class anymore. Afraid that her emotions would become uncontrollable, he also stopped her from watching any stimulating movies.

And so, Xinan finally reached the month where she was almost due.

Before that, Cheng Yi had prepared everything that was needed. The hospital was also on standby, just waiting for the baby to be born.

However, despite all the planning, Xinan went into labor early.

That evening, Xinan was doing some simple yoga exercises in the living room as usual. Just as she finished and was about to get up, a sharp pain surged from below, her abdomen became extremely bloated, and she could feel a continuous flow of liquid.

Cheng Yi was sitting on the sofa sending emails at the time. Seeing Xinan, who was fine moments ago, suddenly clutching her belly, his face changed color instantly. He quickly squatted down to support Xinan’s waist, "Nannan, what’s wrong?"

At that moment, Xinan’s face was pale, and her body trembled slightly. Enduring the pain, she tightly grasped Cheng Yi’s arm and said, "Hurry... take me to the hospital, I... I think the baby is coming."

Cheng Yi quickly calmed himself down, draped his suit jacket over Xinan on the couch, and then picked Xinan up from the ground, rushing out of the villa’s entrance toward the garage.

His steps were rapid, yet Xinan was held steadily in his arms.

Cheng Yi did not know what he was feeling at the moment, only that his heartbeat seemed as if it would stop at any second.

In the car, Cheng Yi drove while contacting the hospital to make preparations.

Seeing Xinan’s expression growing more and more pained, the sweat accumulating on her forehead, Cheng Yi became even more anxious, stepping on the gas to reach maximum speed, and in under ten minutes, they arrived at the hospital entrance.

By then, the doctors and nurses had been waiting for a long time and quickly pushed a stretcher over as soon as Cheng Yi carried Xinan out of the car, helping her to lie down.

All the way, Cheng Yi’s hand was locked tightly with Xinan’s, constantly comforting her, "Hang in there, Nannan, we’ll be in the delivery room soon, hang on..."

Two minutes later, Xinan was finally wheeled into the delivery room. As it was a premature birth, the medical staff were all on high alert.

Cheng Yi stayed with Xinan throughout the process, his heart ached tremendously listening to her agonizing screams, wishing he could take the pain for her.

"Baby, just hold on, the baby will be out soon."

"Hold on, hold on, let’s never have another child again, never..."

"Baby, it’s alright now, it’s going to be fine soon, I can already see the baby’s head," Cheng Yi kept comforting Xinan, but in fact, his heart was churning inside.

Outside the delivery room, Mr. and Mrs. Cheng were anxious beyond measure. A few minutes later, Zhou Rong and Xi Xun also rushed over, "How is it, what did the doctor say about when she’ll be out?"

"She’s still in there; it’s already been two hours," Mrs. Cheng replied to Zhou Rong with a furrowed brow.

Hearing that it had been two hours already, Zhou Rong’s heart tightened with anxiety, silently praying for her daughter to be safe...

Half an hour later, the delivery room door finally opened, and the sound of a baby’s cry echoed through the corridor. The nurse, holding the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, walked out with the good news, "Mother and child are safe."

Everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the words "Mother and child are safe."

Mrs. Cheng stepped forward to ask the nurse, "Could you please tell me if it is a boy or a girl?"

"It’s a boy," the nurse replied.

"Thank you, you’ve really gone to a lot of trouble."

"Mrs. Cheng, it’s no trouble at all, this is our duty."

Mrs. Cheng took the baby from the nurse and examined him closely, finding that he closely resembled Cheng Yi when he was young, utterly adorable.

Soon after, Xinan was wheeled out of the delivery room, and everyone quickly gathered around, concerned about her condition.

"Nannan, you’ve really done the hard part."

Xinan was extremely weak and could not say a word, only managed a faint smile.

Mrs. Cheng handed the baby to Xinan to see, "The child is very healthy, thank you, Nannan, for giving our Cheng family a big, healthy boy."

Xinan looked at the child wrapped in swaddling clothes, her eyes filled with tenderness.

"Mom, I’ll take Nannan to the ward to rest," said Cheng Yi to his mother.

"Yes, yes, Nannan should definitely get some rest."
